Rege-Jean Page Admits Reports About Him Losing 'Krypton' Role Due to Skin Color 'Hurt'

    Instagram

After a representative of former DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns offers clarification regarding the story, the ‘Bridgerton’ alum claims it still ‘hurts no less now than it did back then.’

    Apr 8, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Rege-Jean Page has responded to reports about him losing a role on “Krypton” because of his race. One day after he was unveiled to have been rejected from the Syfy series because he is black, the former “Bridgerton” star admitted the news still “hurts” him.

“Hearing about these conversations hurts no less now than it did back then. The clarifications almost hurt more tbh,” the 31-year-old hunk wrote on Twitter on Wednesday, April 7. “Still just doing my thing. Still we do the work. We still fly.”

Rege-Jean Page responded to reports about him losing a role on ‘Krypton’ due to his race.

Page has since received supportive comments from his online devotees. One in particular replied, “They did no Justice even when it was a Superman show. You deserved better. Glad you has a second chance to shine.” Another penned, “This is DC’s loss! Really bad decision. Frankly, they don’t deserve you and ‘Krypton’ will not be on my ‘to see’ list. Bigger and better…bring it on!”

Page’s post came after The Hollywood Reporter published an article that claimed he was passed over to play Superman’s grandfather on the Syfy series due to his skin color. Former DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns allegedly argued that “Superman could not have a Black grandfather.” He also reportedly shut down an idea to make character Adam Strange gay or bisexual on the show.

Johns’ representative, however, has denied the claims via email. “[Johns] celebrates and supports LGTBQ characters, including ‘Batwoman’, who in 2006 was re-introduced as LGBTQ in a comic-book series co-written by Johns,” the rep first pointed out.

The representative further noted, “Johns also pitched Warners on developing a television show around the first LGBTQ lead DC superhero television series.” As for why Page did not get the role, the rep explained that “Johns believed that fans wanted the character to look like a young Henry Cavill.”

Brooke Baldwin Takes Issue With Gender Pay Disparity at CNN Amid Departure

    Instagram

The 41-year-old journalist, who left her longtime employer after 13 years, reveals in a new interview that ‘the most influential anchors on [her] network [and] the highest-paid, are men.’

    Apr 8, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Brooke Baldwin has unveiled one of the reasons why she left CNN. The journalist, who is departing from the network after 13 years, admitted that she took issue with its gender pay disparity.

The 41-year-old made the revelation when speaking on Ms. Magazine’s “On The Issues With Michele Goodwin” podcast. “I’ve been anchoring for 10-plus years, the majority of that time two hours in the afternoon. And in that time, you know, the most influential anchors on our network [and] the highest-paid, are men,” she first spilled.

“My bosses, my executives are men. The person who oversees CNN Dayside is a man, and my executive producer for 10 years is a man. So, I have been surrounded by a lot of men,” she further divulged. “I do think it is changing, I know it is changing just by looking at some of the faces that are popping up more and more on our channel… but oftentimes, especially early on … I was surrounded by a lot of dudes.”

Brooke, who hosts the afternoon segment of “CNN Newsroom”, also claimed that she does personally “fight for women’s stories.” Despite getting “told no a lot,” she said that she managed to overcome such setbacks.

“Little by little, by having women in places of power – and I would argue behind-the-scenes, not just in front, but behind-the-scenes – that is how you then have stories that reflect who they are,” she further shared. “It’s getting better but we still have a bit of a ways to go.”

Brooke announced her departure from CNN in February. “For a decade, I’ve never taken for granted the enormous responsibility and privilege I’ve had to work with some of the most talented producers and photojournalists out there as we covered our era’s most urgent and important stories,” she declared while on-air.

“Conflicts, terrorism, environmental and natural disasters, the wrath of gun violence, human interest stories and royal weddings, my ‘American Woman’ series, social justice movements that define our culture and a pandemic that changed the world… and politics,” she went on. “Lots of politics.”

“I am grateful for your loyalty and passion for the world we cover,” Brooke concluded. “The next chapter of life will be focused on what I love the most about my work, amplifying the lives of extraordinary Americans and putting my passion for storytelling to good use.”

Kanye West Documentary Series Allegedly Cost Netflix Over $30 Million

    Instagram

A series chronicling the life and career of the ‘Jesus Is King’ rapper is in the works at Netflix and the streaming giant reportedly spent more than $30 million on the project.

    Apr 8, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
A multi-part documentary series about Kanye West’s life and career is reportedly set to land on Netflix this year.

According to Billboard, the streaming giant spent “upwards of $30 million (£22 million)” on the series though this has not been confirmed.

The currently untitled project is being helmed by music video producing pair Clarence ‘Coodie’ Simmons and Chike Ozah, who were behind the hip-hop superstar and Yeezy founder’s 2004 promos for “Jesus Walks (Version 3)” and “Through the Wire”.

Fans can expect to see never-before-seen footage of the rapper in the doc, which follows his career in music and fashion, his 2020 presidential bid, and will touch on the tragic death of his mother, Donda West.

The series is said to have been in the works for two decades and, while the “Stronger” hitmaker is not working on the production himself, he has given his seal of approval.

Coodie and Chike’s Creative Control have joined forces with TIME Studios on the series, who distributed the 2018 Aretha Franklin concert film “Amazing Grace”.

The documentary news comes amid the 43-year-old star’s divorce from Kim Kardashian West.

In February (21), the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star filed to end her six-year marriage to the “Famous” hitmaker – with whom she has North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and 22-month-old Psalm – citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their split.

Kim began dating the “Heartless” rapper in 2012 and the couple had their first child in 2013 before tying the knot in 2014.

Piers Morgan Calls Out Sheryl Underwood for Defending George Lopez in 2017

    WENN/Mario Mitsis/FayesVision

The former TV host also previously slammed Meghan Markle, calling her ‘delusional duchess’ while insisting that she lied about her claims against the British royals in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Piers Morgan is taking aim at “The Talk” co-host Sheryl Underwood. During his appearance on Extra TV, the former “Good Morning Britain” host called for the firing of Sheryl after his pal Sharon Osbourne was fired from “The Talk” for defending him.

“[Sharon] was attacked on her own show by her co-host who said that that effectively was her supporting someone who said racist things. And when Sharon got annoyed and said, ‘What did he say that was racist,’ they couldn’t say anything because I never have,” Piers ranted. “Now, Sharon’s gone, too. I look at this Cancel Culture, it’s a real thing. This woke mob want to cancel people who do not follow the narrative.”

He then brought up the time when Sheryl defended George Lopez, a Latino comedian who made offensive jokes about a black woman in the audience in a 2017 performance. “There’s a real hypocrisy at the top as well, involving Sheryl Underwood, because four years ago, it was revealed after Sharon was forced out of her job for defending somebody who hadn’t said racist things, a video emerged of Sheryl Underwood defending George Lopez, the Latino comedian,” Piers noted.

      See also…

“You would think that Sheryl Underwood, who is so outraged by people saying racist things, that she even imagines them saying when they haven’t, but when she was confronted with clear evidence on video of her good friend George Lopez saying racist things and abusing a young black woman who then had to leave a venue, that Sheryl would be outraged, but she wasn’t,” Piers continued.

During the interview, Piers also slammed Meghan Markle, calling her “delusional duchess” while insisting that she lied about her claims against the British royals in her interview with Oprah Winfrey. “You’re accusing people in the palace of being unspeakably cruel simply to protect the brand of the Royal family. If that is true, let’s have the names of these people, and let’s go to them and ask them is this true,” he challenged the Duchess of Sussex. “Did you tell a suicidal woman who told you she was suicidal she was not allowed to get help? Because I find that impossible to believe.”

Still refusing to believe what Meghan and Prince Harry said in the bombshell tell-all, Piers added, “There are so many ridiculous whoppers in this interview that frankly, in the end, saying I would believe her would be like saying I believe Pinocchio. Why would I? It’s not really about Meghan Markle – she’s a delusional duchess who wants to make millions off the royals while trashing family. It’s really about free speech.”

Topher Grace Gets White Supremacist Offers Only Before Securing 'Home Economics'

    Instagram

Making an appearance on ‘Good Morning America’, the former ‘That ’70s Show’ star admits he might have gone a little too far with his portrayal of David Duke in ‘BlacKkKlansman’.

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Topher Grace jumped at the chance to play a fun-loving sitcom character after receiving film offers to play white supremacists and evil guys.

The former “That ’70s Show” star is returning to the small screen as one of the stars and producers of ABC show “Home Economics” and he admits it was refreshing to read a script that didn’t require him to play an unpleasant character.

“I had just played [white supremacist] David Duke in ‘BlacKkKlansman’, which was an amazing experience, and then I was on ‘Black Mirror’ – I played kind of an evil tech wizard – and I started getting only offers to play white supremacists and neo-Nazis,” he tells “Good Morning America”.

“I wanted to try lots of different things in my career, but maybe I’ve gone a little too far in one direction.”

      See also…

In fact, after playing Duke in Spike Lee’s acclaimed movie, Topher knows that’s one role he never wants to play again. “It’s not something that I wanted to do… but to be able to work with Spike Lee was what that was all about,” he adds.

Developed by Michael Colton and John Aboud, “Home Economics” will see Topher playing a struggling middle-class author. Joining him in the cast ensemble are Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza and Sasheer Zamata.

In a previous interview about his involvement with the show, Topher said, “I never thought about doing another show until I read Michael Colton and John Aboud’s amazing script.” He added, “Both the characters they created and the amazing ensemble they brought together to play them are a family I just had to be a part of.”

Report: Rege-Jean Page Lost 'Krypton' Role Due to His Race

    WENN/Sheri Determan

Additionally, the creators of the Syfy series are said to be wanting to make Adam Strange gay or bisexual on the show, but former DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns is allegedly against the idea.

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Rege-Jean Page almost starred on Syfy’s “Krypton” if it’s not because of his skin color. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Bridgerton” star was turned down when he auditioned for a role on the Syfy series because “Superman could not have a Black grandfather.”

In the new report, multiple sources mentioned that the show’s creators were “passionate about doing some nontraditional casting.” The breakout star had auditioned for the role of Superman’s grandfather on the series, but former DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns apparently wasn’t a fan of the idea of having Rege-Jean on the show.

Johns, who was overseeing the project, argued that “Superman could not have a Black grandfather.” Additionally, the creators were said to be wanting to make Adam Strange gay or bisexual on the show, but Johns was allegedly against the idea.

A representative for Johns had responded to the claims, denying them in a statement. “Geoff celebrates and supports LGTBQ characters, including ‘Batwoman’, who in 2006 was re-introduced as LGBTQ in a comic-book series co-written by Johns,” stated Johns’ rep in an email. “Johns also pitched Warners on developing a television show around the first LGBTQ lead DC superhero television series.” As for the role of Superman’s grandfather, the rep explained that Johns believed that fans wanted the character to look like a young Henry Cavill.

Ray Fisher, who has been beefing with DC, wasn’t impressed by the clarification. Writing on his Twitter account, the “Justice League” actor blasted Johns as writing, “I appreciate Geoff Johns bringing on a crisis team to try to explain away his discriminatory behavior, but his excuses are WEAK.”

    Ray Fisher blasted Geoff Johns.

“If Geoff believed fans expected Superman’s grandfather to look like ‘a young Henry Cavill’–why was he ok with the Zods not resembling Michael Shannon?” he questioned.

Jimmy Fallon Invites TikTok Dance Creators Following Backlash Over Addison Rae's Performance

    WENN/Instagram

In the new episode of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, the TV host says he does ‘recognize that the creators of those dances deserve to have their own spotlight.’

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Jimmy Fallon has finally addressed backlash over Addison Rae’s TikTok segment on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. Having found himself under fire after failing to credit creators for their viral dances on the video-sharing platform, he fixed his mistake by inviting them on his show.

“On our last show before break, we did a bit with Addison Rae where she taught me eight viral TikTok dances. Now, we recognize that the creators of those dances deserve to have their own spotlight,” the 46-year-old said in the Monday, April 5 episode of his night show. “So right now, some of the creators will join me to talk about how their dance went viral and then perform the dance themselves.”

Jimmy went on to speak with the dance creators and watched them perform their dances. They included Mya Nicole Johnson and Chris Cotter (“Up”), Dorien Scott (“Corvette Corvette”), Fur-Quan Powell and Camyra Franklin (“Laffy Taffy”), Adam Snyder, Nate Nale and Greg Dahl (“Blinding Lights”) and Keara Wilson (“Savage”).

Jimmy’s invitation came after Addison responded to the criticism one week earlier. “I think they were all credited in the original YouTube post, but it’s kind of hard to credit during the show. But they all know that I love them so much. I mean, I support all of them so much. And hopefully one day we can all meet up and dance together,” she said of the dance creators when speaking to TMZ.

When asked whether she has plans to “collaborate” with them, the TikTok star replied, “For sure. I mean, I think ever since the beginning that I’ve been talking about most of them, and um, definitely wanna collab with a lot of them.” She added, “So hopefully, once the world opens up, we can all meet up and so something together because they’d be so much fun. And they’re also talented. And I definitely don’t do them justice. They’re amazing.”

Addison and Jimmy landed in hot water over a segment called “Addison Rae Teaches Jimmy Eight TikTok Dances” in the Friday, March 26 episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. In it, she performed some popular dances in accordance to cue cards that the comedian held.

'RHOSLC' Jen Shah Calls Co-Stars 'Racist' in Leaked Audio

    Instagram

In the audio which allegedly is obtained from the TV star’s Instagram account, Jen also claims that she’s the only minority in the cast, noting that Mary Cosvy ‘doesn’t even count because Mary thinks she’s white.’

    Apr 6, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Jen Shah made headlines again after she was arrested for an alleged telemarketing scam. In a new leaked audion, which was said to be obtained from her Instagram account, Jen was heard blasting her co-stars on the Bravo reality show.

Jen was first heard slamming Heather Gay. “Heather, she can lie all she wants but I’m ready to bust her s**t wide open,” she fiercely said, before adding, “I was ready to do it in the summertime when I started my ‘Shah Tha Fah Up’ podcast for IG live. Then I got a call from BRAVO like. ‘Hey, you know, can you please not say anything?’ ”

“Yeah – you wanna know why – I didn’t mention any names, but you wanna know I’m getting a call? You saw on the footage, the b**** is racist as f**k,” Jen continued. “They all were.”

In the audio, Jen also claimed that she’s the only minority in the cast. “I’m the only minority on the show,” she stressed. As for Mary Cosby, Jen argued that Mary “doesn’t even count because Mary thinks she’s white.”

      See also…

She went on saying, “But, they just all came for me, which it’s fine. I’m gonna be myself. People like that because I’m real. And they know I’m the one on the show that has the biggest heart too. They know that….”

In recent interview, Bravo executive producer Andy Cohen broke his silence on Jen’s legal drama. During a Monday, April 5 episode of his SiriusXM show “Radio Andy”, the 52-year-old talk show host/producer looked hesitant when asked by a caller to address the allegations against the TV star.

Andy said, “I’m waiting to see how it plays out.” He also shared that he hoped Jen was innocent, especially since she has pleaded not guilty following her arrest. “I have nothing to add to what we already know, other than I certainly hope and pray that none of it is true,” Andy continued.

Jen was arrested in the parking lot of a small strip mall in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, March 30. The 47-year-old and her assistant Stuart Smith are accused of defrauding elderly people via a telemarketing scheme for nine years.
