'American Idol' Recap: A Contestant Gets Three Yes and Hug From Katy Perry

    ABC

The new episode of the ABC singing competition, meanwhile, concludes with a married couple who auditions as a duo named Treble Soul but only one of them is successfully sent to Hollywood.
    Feb 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – “American Idol” continued its auditions in the Sunday, February 23 episode. Performing first in front of judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan was Cyniah Elise. He sang a gorgeous rendition of Calum Scott’s “You Are The Reason”.
Lionel was hugely impressed and even compared her to Whitney Houston. Cyniah was unsurpringly sent to Hollywood. Following it up was Kay Genyse, who sang “Mercy”. Judges, however, weren’t exactly convinced by her vocals. Luke said no to her, while Katy brought Kay out to hear what public said about her. The people loved Kay and that earned Kay two yes from Katy and Lionel.

Next up was Kyle Tanguay and he performed Shawn Mendes’ “Mercy”. Although it was just okay, the judges sent him to Hollywood. Singing “Whipping Post” by The Allman Brothers was Jovin Webb. He got three yes and moved onto Hollywood. Later, Claire Jolie Goodman showcased her Broadway-style voice. She had an amazing voice but the judges told her that “American Idol” wasn’t the place for her.

Margie Mays, who auditioned back in season 7, returned this year. Singing “I Found a Boy”, she wowed the judges with her improvement though she still needed some works. Lionel said yes, but Katy said no. Luke, meanwhile, gave her a yes because he wanted to give her one more shot. Margie went to Hollywood.

Margie’s boyfriend Johnny then came with an original song and the judges loved him. He was off to Hollywood! The next singer was Sarah Isen who opted to sing an amazing rendition of Beyonce Knowles’ “If I Were a Boy”. It was a no-brainer decision to send Sarah to Hollywood. Later, Julia Gargano got three yes after performing an original song titled “Growing Pains”.

The last audition was from a married couple, who formed a duo called Treble Soul. The judges, however, wanted them to perform individually. Curt Jones went up first, singing a Travis Tritt song. Hannah Prestridge followed it up with an original song about overcoming addiction.

    Feb 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Julia Roberts is returning to TV to join Sean Penn in a new series based on the Watergate scandal.
The “Pretty Woman” star is reteaming with her “Homecoming” co-creator Sam Esmail for “Gaslit”, an adaptation of the Slow Burn podcast’s first season, which explored the untold stories and forgotten characters from the events which ended U.S. leader Richard Nixon’s presidency in 1974.

Edie Falco's New Series Filmed in Fake L.A. as She Refuses to Go to West Coast

    CBS

The former ‘Nurse Jackie’ actress initially turned down the new police show ‘Tommy’ because it’s set in Los Angeles but TV bosses offered to move the location to New York.
    Feb 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actress Edie Falco almost missed out on the title role in new police drama series “Tommy” because she refused to leave her family life in New York to film in Los Angeles.
“The Sopranos” star initially passed on the role of Abigail ‘Tommy’ Thomas, a former New York Police Department captain who becomes the first female chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, but TV bosses were so keen to land Falco as their leading lady, they offered to move the whole production to the Big Apple.
“I usually know pretty quickly (if a role is going to be great) when reading the script, but that’s what happened this time: ‘Oh, this is great! Oh, it shoots in L.A.’ and I put it aside,” she told U.S. breakfast show “Today”.
“I have kids; I live in New York, this is where my life is, so I just forgot about it,” Falco explained, “and my manager came back and said, ‘Well, what if they shot in New York?’ Keeping it as (set in) L.A., but shot in New York.”
“I was like, ‘Very funny’ – and they did!”
To make the set look more like America’s West Coast, producers had palm trees driven from shoot to shoot. “(They brought in) palm trees, in the back of a truck!” Falco laughed. “We get there, we take the palm trees out, we shoot the scene, put the palm trees back in the truck, go to the next location… We’ll see if people buy it!”
And the 56-year-old actress is convinced a higher power helped to ensure everything worked out in her favour. “If you know what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, things tend to happen the way they should, I have found,” Falco shared.
“Like, I would never go in there (to speak to producers) and say, ‘Well, I’ll do this, but you shoot it in New York…’ I can’t. It’s not for me to be (telling them), and if they have another idea about it, amazing.”

Jennifer Lahmers Defends Herself After Seemingly Pissing Off 'The Real' Hosts

    Instagram

The ‘Extra’ host insists she only did her job as a correspondent when she decided to bring up the arguments between co-hosts Amanda Seales and Jeannie Mai.
    Feb 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jennifer Lahmers responded to criticisms following her awkward guest-hosting appearance on “The Real” recently. She was accused of trying to pit Amanda Seales against co-host Jeannie Mai by bringing up their alleged feud. She additionally got on Seales’ nerves for calling her “a newbie.”
“Humble yourself,” Lahmers wrote on Instagram. She insisted she did nothing wrong, “I wouldn’t change a thing about the way I conducted that interview – addressing a topic that had made numerous headlines across multiple outlets.” She added, “This is my job as a correspondent. I did not keep pressing once I got an answer and that is all I will say on the matter.”
Lahmers was originally cut off by Seales when she said Seales and Mai “butted heads.” As Lahmers persisted on the topic, Mai suggested the “Extra” host confused herself between “butting heads” and “having a difference of opinion.” Mai added, “When I butt heads, there’s only going to be one head standing and as you can see, we’re still here.”
Earlier on the show, Lahmers excluded Seales when she congratulated the show for its 1,000th episode. “1,000 episodes. Does it feel like it’s six seasons, already?” she said before turning to Seales with offhanded comment, “I mean not for you because you’re a newbie.”
Seales played it cool as she said to the camera, “But I been in this game for a long time.” Co-host Loni Love comforted her, giving her a nod of approval and holding her hand. Meanwhile, Lahmers just brushed it off with a laugh and continued with her chatters.

'The Real' Co-Host Amanda Seales Goes Off on 'Extra' for Bringing Up Jeannie Mai Rumored Feud

    Warner Bros. Television

That is not the only time that Jenn Lahmers appears to piss Seales off in an interview with other ‘The Real’ co-hosts as she calls her ‘newbie’ while talking about the daytime talk show hitting its 1000th episode.
    Feb 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Real” co-hosts were celebrating for the show’s 1000th episode and stopped by “Extra TV” for an interview with Jenn Lahmers. As they talked about the exciting milestone that the daytime talk show hit, things went well during the interview. However, that changed after Lashmers brought the topic of alleged tension between Amanda Seales and fellow co-host Jeannie Mai up to the discussion.
At one point, Lashmers pointed out to Seales, “You and Jeannie have butted heads on a couple of topics…,” before Seales quickly cut her off . “Have we? Stop… No because you know what…,” Seales snapped.
“It comes with the territory, right?” Lashmers continued to ask, to which Seales responded, “That’s not the territory we’re coming from. We’re not butting heads. And I think it’s very, very important, especially at a table of diverse women….” Mai agreed and encouraged Seales to continue explaining, saying, “Say it.”
“…to very clearly delineate the difference between having a difference of opinion than butting heads. You’ll know when I’m butting heads because when I butt heads, there’s only going to be one head standing and as you can see, we’re still here,” Seales added. Seales and Mai then quietly toasted one another.

That was not the only time that Lashmers appeared to piss Seales off. Earlier in the interview, Lashmers said, “1,000 episodes. Does it feel like it’s six seasons, already?..I mean not for you because you’re a newbie.” Seales looked at the camera and deadpanned, “But I been in this game for a long time.” Co-host Loni Love could also be seen assuring Seales by holding Seales’ hands and giving her a nod of approval.

John Krasinski Admits to Be Struggling After the End of 'The Office'

    WENN/Brian To

Confessing that he was not genuinely prepared for life after the hit TV series, the star and director of ‘A Quiet Place’ claims that casting directors were ‘afraid’ to work with certain cast members.
    Feb 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – John Krasinski struggled to adapt to life after “The Office” came to an end as casting directors were “afraid” to work with alumni from the show.
The actor played the beloved character, Jim Halpert, for nine seasons on the hit TV series, which came to an end in 2013 – something he told Esquire he “wasn’t prepared” for.
“‘The Office’ was so big at the time, but I think a lot of people were afraid to cast certain cast members in anything else because they were just known as that one thing, which I completely understood,” he said. “It wasn’t an aggressive anger towards it. It was just a reality that I think I wasn’t, if I’m honest, genuinely prepared for.”

However, the “A Quiet Place” star confessed he would “absolutely love to do” a reunion special with stars including Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson and Ellie Kemper if the opportunity arose, adding: “‘The Office’ was absolutely everything to me. I mean it is my beginning and my end. I’m pretty sure at the end of my career I’ll still be known for Jim. That was my first experience with Hollywood. It was the first creative family I’ve ever had.”
The 40-year-old continued: “In many ways, they will always be the most important people in that most important experience in my career. So yeah, if they did a reunion, I would absolutely love to do it.”

'Friends' Reunion Special in the Works on HBO Max

    NBC

The announcement of the big news was made after stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and others post the same promotional photo of the cast of the popular series.
    Feb 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – It’s really happening! It has been revealed that the cast of “Friends” will be reprising their roles for a reunion special that is set for HBO Max.
The announcement of the big news was made on Friday, February 21 when stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer simultaneously posted the same promotional photo of the cast. “It’s happening….” they wrote in the caption.
Matt LeBlanc also teased the reunion special. However, instead of the same photo that others posted on their respective accounts, the Joey Tribbiani depicter shared a photo of the cast of 1970 CBS Korean war set medical drama “M*A*S*H”. “i don’t remember this episode of friends,” one confused fan said in the comment section. “Joey thats no the photo!!!!” one other added.

“Of curse. Of all the 5 actors, Joey/Matt is the one to post a completely random picture,” another fan noted. Meanwhile, someone wasn’t exactly surprised because “THIS IS SUCH A YOU THING IM LIVING FOR IT.”
The special, as well as all 236 episodes of “Friends”, will be available upon the streaming service’s debut. “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire ‘Friends’ library,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max and president of TBS, TNT, and truTV, in a statement.
“I became aware of ‘Friends’ when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans,” he added.
Ben Winston is tapped to direct the special in addition to serving as executive produce alongside “Friends” executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane. Also executive producing the special are Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry and Schwimmer with Emma Conway and James Longman on board as co-executive producers. Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television and Fulwell 73 Productions are behind the program.

Katy Perry Falls to the Ground Amid Gas Leak During 'American Idol' Audition

    WENN/Avalon

The ‘Firework’ hitmaker, along with crew and contestants, has to be evacuated from the Sunriver, Oregon set after she and her fellow judges smelled heavy propane in the room.
    Feb 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katy Perry passed out at last year’s “American Idol” auditions in Sunriver, Oregon when a gas leak occurred on set.
The “Firework” hitmaker was sitting on the panel for the TV talent show alongside co-judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan when the trio began to suspect something was wrong in the audition room.
“Do you guys smell gas? It’s pretty intense,” Katy says in a teaser clip for the episode, as Luke agrees, “We’re getting heavy propane.”
“I have a slight headache from it,” Perry adds, as she stands up to leave the studio and production begin evacuating the crew and contestants. “Oh, it’s bad. It’s really bad.”
The clip shows the fire department and ambulances arriving on the scene, and the judges remarking that they can still smell gas from outside.
“This is not a joke, there really is a gas leak,” Bryan confirms, approaching the fire truck, as “Dark Horse” star Katy tumbles to the ground from a crouched position after admitting, “I’m not feeling good.”

Last November (2019), officers from the Sunriver Fire Department shared videos and photos with the Idol coaches after they attended to the incident, which ended up being a problem in the kitchen at the Sunriver Resort.
The full ordeal will play out in Sunday’s (February 23) instalment of the show.
