Piers Morgan's Co-Host Addresses His TV Exit: The Shows Go On

    ITV

‘Good Morning Britain’ host Susanna Reid weighs in on the abrupt departure of her controversial co-host in the first episode following his decision to quit the British morning show.

    Mar 11, 2021
AceShowbiz – Piers Morgan’s “Good Morning Britain” co-host Susanna Reid has insisted “shows go on” while presenting the programme for the first time since his shocking decision to quit.
The outspoken broadcaster stepped down from his position as anchor of the show on Tuesday (09Mar21), after a row on live TV that morning with weatherman Alex Beresford over his handling of the Duchess of Sussex’s Oprah Winfrey interview.
Piers took to Twitter on Tuesday night to tell followers he was “trusting his gut” in leaving “Good Morning Britain” and, as she joined Ranvir Singh for the first “Good Morning Britain” after the scandal on Wednesday morning (10Mar21), Susanna had a message for viewers.
“Piers and I have disagreed on many things and that dynamic was one of the things viewers loved about the programme,” she said. “He is without doubt an outspoken, challenging, opinionated, disruptive broadcaster. He has many critics, and he has many fans.”

“You will know I disagreed with him about Meghan’s interview. He himself clarified his comments about her mental health on the show yesterday.”
“There are many voices on GMB and everyone have their say, but now Piers has decided to leave the programme. Some of you will cheer, and others will boo.”
She concluded, “He has been my presenting partner, Monday to Wednesday, for more than five years, and during Brexit and the pandemic, and other issues, he has been a voice for many of you and a voice that many of you have railed against. It is certainly going to be very different, but shows go on, and so on we go.”
Susanna was also quick to point out to viewers that Ranvir’s involvement on Wednesday’s episode had already been arranged, and she had just “swapped seats” to become her co-host for the day in the wake of Piers’ quitting.
ITV have yet to announce a replacement for Morgan.

Eva Marcille Says 'ANTM' Judge Janice Dickinson Advised Her to Fix Her Nose With Prize Money

    Instagram

In a new episode of ‘The Undressing Room’ podcast, the former ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star shares to her co-hosts that she got some unsolicited advice from Janice after winning Cycle 3 of the show.

    Mar 10, 2021
AceShowbiz – Eva Marcille spoke out against “America’s Next Top Model” judge Janice Dickinson as she recalled her time on the show. In a new episode of “The Undressing Room” podcast, the former “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star shared that she got some unsolicited advice from Janice after winning Cycle 3 of the show.
“When I won ‘Top Model’, the first thing I was told was — outside of [Tyra Banks]’ ‘Congratulations’ — Janice Dickinson said, ‘Now you can take your money and go get your nose fixed,’ ” Eva told her co-hosts Lore’l and Dominique Da Diva. She went on to say sarcastically, “Um… I didn’t know my nose was broke. I didn’t know there was anything wrong with it. It’s working.”
The TV personality went on to say, “This is the same nose, same big lips, same everything. My point is people always have something to say, especially when you are in the light, they have something to say about your aesthetics, good or bad. There’s always something that someone’s going to have to say about you.”

      See also…

“So the question is, is at what point do you stop listening to the world and start listening to yourself?” Eva concluded her message. Janice has yet to respond to Eva’s comment.
Eva isn’t the only former “ANTM” contestant who slammed the show’s panelist member. Earlier this year, Lisa D’Amato took to Instagram to recount her awful experience on the show, risking being sued for breach of contract. She accused Tyra of using her childhood trauma against her, writing on January 29, “Remember when I had an opportunity to ask you one question in season 5 – a modeling question – and I came in and asked you a question that wasn’t about modeling and you kicked me out? Can I get that question back?”
“I did it knowing that this was a breach of contract, still, because I felt like it was my duty to warn other girls that were going to audition for ‘America’s Next Top Model’ to know that what you guys do and the way that you guys would poke me and use my childhood trauma against me, day in and day out,” Lisa, who finished in sixth place in Cycle 5, continued. “It was just so f***ed up, and it broke my heart. Like, how could you do that?”
“You, Tyra, you knew very well the horrible trauma that my mom inflicted on me, and you also talk so much about how you wouldn’t be where you are without your mother and how powerful she is,” the winner of “ANTM: All Stars” season 17 further alleged. “So knowing that, you still did that to me and continued to do it to other girls, even after I spoke publicly about it.”

Piers Morgan Addresses His 'Good Morning Britain' Exit Following Meghan Markle Criticism

    WENN/Avalon/John Rainford

ITV previously revealed that Piers left the show after the U.K.’s media regulators at Ofcom announced they would be investigating the host over his offensive remarks regarding the Duchess of Sussex’s mental health.

    Mar 10, 2021
AceShowbiz – Piers Morgan has broken his silence on his “Good Morning Britain” exit. The British TV personality took to his Twitter account to share with his 7.8 million followers that his late manager most likely would applaud him over his decision.
“Thinking of my late, great manager John Ferriter tonight,” Piers wrote on the blue bird app on Tuesday, March 9 alongside a throwback picture of them together. “He’d have told me to do exactly the same thing.”

Piers Morgan believed his late manager would approve of his ‘GMB’ exit.
ITV announced that Piers left the show after the U.K.’s media regulators at Ofcom announced they would be investigating Piers over his offensive remarks regarding the Duchess of Sussex’s mental health. “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add,” ITV shared in a statement.

      See also…

Prior to this, Piers made headlines after he abruptly left the set of the popular morning talk show while on air following a heated discussion with co-host Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle. In the episode, the co-hosts were discussing Meghan and Prince Harry’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey when Alex accused Piers of having a vendetta against the Duchess of Sussex because she cut him off after being engaged to Prince Harry.
“I hear Piers say William has gone through the same thing, but do you know what? Siblings experience tragedy in their life and one will be absolutely fine and brush it off and the other will not be able to deal with it so strongly and that is clearly what has happened with Prince Harry in this situation,” said Alex. “He walked behind his mother’s coffin at a tender, tender age in front of the globe. That is going to shape a young boy for the rest of his life. So I think that we all need to take a step back.”
The former weather presenter went on to say to Piers, “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made that so clear a number of times on this program. A number of times. And I understand that you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her.”
The remarks didn’t sit well with Piers as he got up and left the set. “OK. I’m done with this. Sorry. No. Sorry. You can trash me mate, but not on my own show,” so he told Alex. Piers did return minutes later and admitted that he and his colleague needed to work through any issues they have civilly for the sake of the show.

Piers Morgan Quits TV Show as He Faces Investigation Over Insensitive Comments About Meghan Markle

    WENN

The former CNN member leaves ‘Good Morning Britain’ after TV bosses announced they’re launching investigation into his insensitive remarks about the Duchess of Sussex.

    Mar 10, 2021
AceShowbiz – Outspoken TV newsman Piers Morgan has quit hit breakfast show “Good Morning Britain” after upsetting viewers with his comments about the Duchess of Sussex’s mental health.
The former CNN regular stormed off the show on Tuesday (09Mar21) after he was attacked for being insensitive about remarks Duchess Meghan had made to Oprah Winfrey during a candid TV interview, which aired in the U.K. on Monday night.
And just minutes after the U.K.’s media regulators at Ofcom announced they would be investigating Morgan, his bosses at ITV revealed Piers was leaving “Good Morning Britain”.
A network spokeswoman says, “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
Morgan’s comments about the troubled royal drew more than 41,000 complaints, according to Ofcom officials, who will continue to investigate claims “Good Morning Britain” broke broadcasting rules on harm and offence.
Morgan upset viewers when he explained he did not believe the Duchess when she told Winfrey she felt suicidal during media attacks linked to her mixed race shortly after becoming pregnant with her first child, Archie.

During the interview, which first aired in the U.S. on Sunday night, the Duchess explained the media intrusion was so bad that she “didn’t want to be alive anymore.” Morgan responded on Monday by stating, “I don’t believe a word she says, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report.”
His co-presenter, Susanna Reid, immediately rebuked him.
Before storming off Tuesday’s show, he tried to clarify his previous statements, explaining, “When we talked about this yesterday, I said an all-encompassing thing. I still don’t believe what Meghan Markle says generally in this interview and I have serious concerns about the veracity of a lot of what she said. But let me just state my position on mental illness and on suicide. These are clearly extremely serious things and should be taken extremely seriously and if someone is feeling that way they should get the treatment and the help that they need every time. Every time.”
“And if they belong to an institution like the royal family, they should seek that help and be given it. It’s not for me to question if she felt suicidal. I am not in her mind and that is for her to say.”
He was later taken to task by colleague Alex Beresford, who said, “I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen.”
Calling his comments during Monday’s show “incredibly hard to watch,” Beresford added, “He has the ability to come in here and talk from a position where he doesn’t fully understand.”

HBO Responds to 'Blackface' Allegations by 'Lovecraft Country' Extra

    HBO Max

Kelli Amirah previously shared in TikTok videos that the makeup team from the show was ‘putting me in blackface’ by making her face and her hands look darker to match another actress’ skin tone.

    Mar 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – HBO has addressed the accusations leveled at it by a “Lovecraft Country” extra, who claimed that the makeup artists darkened her skin. In a statement that was issued on Monday, March 8, the cable network responded to Kelli Amirah’s experience while working for the hit show.
“We were very disappointed to learn of Ms. Amirah’s experience,” a spokesperson for the network shared. HBO also assured that it would make sure that “this should not have happened, and we are taking steps to ensure this doesn’t occur again in the future.”
Kelli first claimed in February that the makeup team from the show was “putting me in blackface” by making her face and her hands look darker to match another actress’ skin tone. “I notice my foundation is getting darker and darker,” she shared in a TikTok video. “I was so uncomfortable. I had no idea they were going to do this to me. And if I knew beforehand, I would not have accepted the job. Who thought that this was a good idea?”
“I have no clout, no pull, no nothing. This job is the first time I’ve ever had my own lil trailer on set,” the 23-year-old, who appeared as a young version of Carol Sutton’s Osberta in an old photo of her wedding day, added. “I’m getting special treatment, sitting in between the big leagues.”

      See also…

Later on March 6, Kelli elaborated her experience in a series of posts on her Twitter account. “I’ve been getting a lot of very valid critiques for my complacency in allowing Lovecraft Country to darken my skin as a photo double for some set photography briefly featured in an episode. It’s uncomfortable but it’s not wrong. I was weak and complacent in that moment,” she began her thread.
“I always thought that ethically I would never be the type of light skinned actress stealing roles better suited for darker women. I don’t submit for things that I *know* aren’t a fit for me,” she went on to say. “In the instance of Lovecraft, I applied for a casting for a 20-25 year old African American woman to play the younger version of a character in her wedding photo. No audition, just an online submission and booking.”
Kelli mentioned that “there was no mention of me being too light when I was caster nor when I went in for my fitting days before. And it wasn’t until I was in the chair that I overheard the muas discussing it. Even then, I thought ‘maybe they just meant a couple shades’ I’m sure it won’t be much more than a tan. And then they just kept painting me darker.”
“Now as this was happening I had so many conflicting thoughts in my head. This is wrong. Why did they hire me. I should say something. What would I say? What would happen? If I hold up this production how much money goes down the drain. What will be my repercussions?” Kelli wondered. “But yeah, the entertainment industry needs to do better. I need to do better. I didn’t show up in the way I should have, and again, I’m sorry for that.”

'The Voice' Recap: A Country Singer Earns Four-Chair Turn in Blind Auditions Part 3

    NBC

After Jesse Desiyrcy’s performance that unfortunately fails to make any coach turn their chair, Avery Roberson performs ‘If You’re Reading This’ that earns him a four-chair turn.

    Mar 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – “The Voice” aired a new episode on Monday, March 8, featuring the third part of Blind Auditions. The coaches, Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, John Legend and Blake Shelton and John Legend, were all focused to get brilliant singers on their team with Ryleigh Modig kicking it off with a performance of Billie Eilish’s “When the Party’s Over”.
Kelly and Nick were impressed as they turned their chair for the 18-year-old singer. “You got to sing those runs. I don’t coach nerves well, but you don’t come across as nervous, you kind of got lost in your character and it was unbelievable. I think you are really cool. I specialize in winning,” Kelly raved. Ryleigh went to Team Kelly.
The next singer was 37-year-old Pia Renee from Chicago. She opted to sing “Master Blaster (Jammin)” and John hit his button with Blake following it up. “America needs to hear someone like you, with so much energy and so much so soul, we are all fortunate that you graced us with your presence so it would be a lot of fun to work with you,” said John. Pia chose John to be her coach.
Singing “Gravity” was Andrew Marshall from Bedford, Massachusetts. Nick was the only one who turned his chair for Andrew, so the latter automatically went to Team Nick. Up next was Emma Caroline from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The country singer hit the stage to sing “Slow Burn”, prompting Kelly and Blake to turn their chair. Rather unsurprisingly, Emma went with Team Blake.

James Tutson from Iowa City, Iowa then performed “Beyond”, but unfortunately no one turned for him. Later, Ciana Pelekai hit the stage to sing “Dance Monkey”. John and Nick turned, but John blocked Nick so Ciana went to Team John. “I love how long it took Nick to realize that I blocked him. I was thoroughly impressed by your performance, a cool tone, and a good sense of rhythm, charism. This is the moment to get back at Nick,” John explained.
Jose Figeruoa Jr. also made John and Nick turn their chair after singing “At This Moment”. “Jose, you were unbelievable on that stage. I cannot have you pick John Legend, it will not happen, it will break my heart and I will not sleep tonight,” Nick tried to pitch to Jose to pick him as his coach, and it worked. Following it up was Halley Greg from Seattle, Washington, singing “I’m Like a Bird”. Kelly was the only coach to hit her button so Halley went to Team Kelly.
As for Durell Anthony, he caught John and Kelly’s attention after performing “What’s Going On”. Kelly said that she loved his voice, while John praised him for the “beautiful rendition.” Durell went with Team John. After Jesse Desiyrcy’s performance that unfortunately failed to make any coach turn their chair, Avery Roberson performed “If You’re Reading This” and he earned a four-chair turn.
Everyone wanted Avery to be on their respective team as Nick said, “I think it is bizarre that every time we have a country artist come out here, you say the same thing, Blake.” Kelly added, “I thought it was quite remarkable that you didn’t do what people expect to do to get four-chair turns, you kept it you, it was beautiful and intimate. I have won this show with a male country singer, I grew up on country music, you are going to do well.” Despite that, Avery chose Team Blake.

'Bachelor' Recap: Matt James Confronts His Dad Ahead of Fantasy Suites

    ABC

The leading man of season 25 of the ABC dating show feels that he needs to talk with his father, who isn’t a constant presence in his life, before he will finally feel ready to start a family of his own.

    Mar 9, 2021
AceShowbiz – “The Bachelor” returned with a new episode on Monday, March 8. In the new outing, Matt James enjoyed one-on-one romantic dates with three remaining ladies in his season during the Fantasy Suites. The first date was between Matt and Michelle, who was confident with her relationship with him.
Prior to that, Matt met his father. He felt that he needed to talk with his father, who wasn’t a constant presence in his life, before he was ready to start a family of his own. Matt explained his emotional turmoil to his father and said that he forgave his dad and didn’t hold grudges against him. Meanwhile, his father promised to try to be more present for Matt, though he noted that this conversation wouldn’t magically fix their relationship.
Later during his date with Michelle, Matt and Michelle had a spa day. During the relaxing time, Michelle revealed that she wanted to be like her parents, who have been married for over thirty years. Matt felt the same as he didn’t want him to be like his parents who split when he was young. As Matt showed his vulnerable side to Michelle, she told him that she loved him. While Matt didn’t say it back, he did kiss her. The two then headed to the bedroom.

The next morning, they woke up in each other’s arms. They kissed a lot until Michelle had to go back to the house. Rachael, meanwhile, was torn to find out that Matt and Michelle spent the night together. Bri was also the same but she tried her best not to show or tell Matt about her feelings.
For Bri and Matt’s one-on-one date, they went hiking. Bri panicked when Matt asked for her help in setting up a camping tent, thinking that they would sleep outside for their Fanstasy Suite. Matt noticed and decided to play with her for a while before he finally told her that this wasn’t the place they would spend their Fantasy Suite night.
Later during the night, Bri told Matt that she loved him. Matt didn’t say it back but he said that he was ready for an engagement, adding that he saw how she fits in her life after Hometowns. Bri then recounted her date with Matt with the other ladies and it made Rachael so insecure.
She couldn’t shake off her insecurity during her date with Matt as they created ceramics. Rachael didn’t speak to him and didn’t event look at him the whole time. Rachael finally decided that she needed to speak with him in private about this. She asked Matt about his feelings for her and he told her that he wanted a future with her, just like what he told the other women. Rachael was satisfied enough with his answer and they kissed.
It was later time for the Rose Ceremony. Matt gave the first rose to Michelle, putting Bri and Rachael in jeopardy. Eventually, he presented the last rose to Rachael and sent Bri home. Matt apologized to Bri, explaining that he just didn’t feel for her as deeply as she did for him.
