AceShowbiz – Coronavirus pandemic is just too much to take for CNN’s reporter Sara Sidner. Sidner couldn’t hold back her tears while delivering her reports on COVID-19 and its impact on communities of color from California in the Tuesday, January 12 episode of “New Day”.
In her coverage, Sidney interviewed Juliana Jimenez Sesma, who lost her mother and stepfather less than two weeks apart. Sesma and her family held a funeral in a parking lot. “This is the tenth hospital that I have been – I’m sorry,” Sidner told host Alisyn Camerota before choking up on her tears. “I apologize. I’m gonna try to get through this,” she added.
“This is the tenth hospital that I have been in, and to see the way that these families have to live after this, and the heartache that goes so far and so wide… It’s really hard to take,” Sidner went on to say with tears in her eyes. “I’m sorry, Alisyn.”

Camerota assured Sidner that there was “no apology needed.” She went on to say, “We’ve been watching your reporting on the ground throughout this horrific year, and we have all been struck by the grief – by the collective grief that all of us are in.”
Continuing her report, Sidner shared, “These families should not be going through this. No family should be going through this. 'The Lincoln Lawyer' Series Adds Manuel Garcia-Rulfo to Title Role

    WENN/Avalon

In the new Netflix series based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels about lawyer Mickey Haller, ‘The Magnificent Seven’ star will take on the role Matthew McConaughey played on the big screen.

    Jan 12, 2021
AceShowbiz – Manuel Garcia-Rulfo has been tapped to take on the role Matthew McConaughey played on the big screen in a new Netflix series based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels about lawyer Mickey Haller.
“The Magnificent Seven” and “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” star will lead the cast of “Big Little Lies” creator David E. Kelley’s revamped “The Lincoln Lawyer” project, which was originally set up at CBS last season.

Connelly, who has written six Haller books in the past 12 years, is thrilled about the series and Garcia-Rulfo’s casting, calling the actor “wonderful and talented”.

“I’m thrilled to call Netflix our home,” Connelly wrote in a blog announcing the new serie. “And I’m excited to bring this rich, multilayered story filled with intriguing characters and mysteries to solve to millions of viewers – both old and new fans – around the world.”
“Manuel is the ideal Mickey Haller, who is following in the footsteps of his attorney father with the showmanship of his Mexican movie star mother,” Connelly added. “He brings a powerful dynamic and dimension to the role – one that aligns with the books and brings authenticity to the Latinx heritage and roots of this Los Angeles-based story.”
The 10-episode first season is based on the second book in “The Lincoln Lawyer” series, “The Brass Verdict”, and revolves around Haller, who runs his law practice from his Lincoln Town Car.
Connelly will also executive produce alongside Kelley.
“The Lincoln Lawyer” was days away from starting production after CBS bosses ordered a pilot when the coronavirus pandemic shut down all filming in March (20). Two months later the TV executives opted not to go forward with the project.

    Jan 12, 2021
AceShowbiz – Some people seemingly were frisky during filming of Matt James’ season of “The Bachelor”. Maggie Hardy Knox, the CEO of Nemacolin Resort in Pennsylvania, where the season 25 filming of the ABC show took place, revealed in a new interview that a used condom was found in a tree during the production.
“We actually found a used condom in the tree branch,” Knox told The New York Post’s Page Six on Monday, January 11. She went on teasing that “hair will be pulled and weaves will fly” during the season.

It remains to be seen who were actually the perpetrators as Knox admitted that it was hard to keep track of everything that happened during the filming, which started in September and wrapped around Thanksgiving last year. “Sometimes there’s some hanky-panky going on where it should not have been, but I can’t tell you everything that was going on. We are on 3,000 acres,” the CEO shared. “So, there’s a lot of land and a lot of woods out there. There were things going on inside and outside of the hotel all the time.”
“People are bored… we’re in quarantine, we are here to serve in any way that we can. We are here to make sure all of our guests are happy all the time,” she continued.
Meanwhile, the show aired its new episode on Monday featuring Matt having one-on-one dates with Bri and Sarah, as well as one group date. The episode was tense with fight between Victoria and Marylynn which made the leading man overwhelmed. Matt eventually decided to give his roses to Pieper, Kit, Magi and Rachael. He continued giving the roses to Abigail, Chelsea, Jessenia, Katie and Serena C at the rose ceremony. The drama didn’t stop as Sarah suddenly felt unconscious at the end of the episode.

'The Bachelor' Recap: Matt James 'Overwhelmed' by Victoria and Marylnn's Fight

    ABC

The new outing of the ABC dating show kicks off with a one-on-one date between Matt and Bri, one of the frontrunners in season 25 as they enjoy riding ATVs.

    Jan 12, 2021
AceShowbiz – “The Bachelor” aired an all-new episode on Monday, January 11, marking the second week of new Bachelor Matt James’ journey of finding love. The new outing kicked off with a one-on-one date between Matt and Bri, one of the frontrunners in season 25, as they enjoyed riding ATVs.
The two followed it up with a picnic before spending time together in a woodfire hot tub. They opened up to each other, telling that they were grateful for this moment. Matt also told Bri that he was looking forward to spending time with her. During the dinner date, Bri revealed to Matt that she was raised by a single mom and she felt alone when she found out that her mom was pregnant with her secret fiance.
Matt also opened up about his past to Bri. “I’m trying to do things differently. The way you opened up tonight and how adventurous you were on the date, that’s attractive to me,” he told her before presenting her with a rose, saying, “Bri, will you accept this rose?”
Meanwhile, Victoria was jealous because she didn’t get to spend time alone with Matt. The other women didn’t seem comfortable with the “negative” vibe that Victoria was giving off. “I think I’m authentic and real,” Victoria told the women, before saying that her roommate Marylynn was rude to her.
The next day, Chelsea, Serena P., Abigal, Sydney, Illeana, Kristin, Lauren, Jessenia, Serena C., Kit, Kaili, Khalah, Mari, Piper, Rachel and Victoria were up for the group date. They were given 10 minutes to pick out a wedding dress to be photographed in with Matt.
After a photo session, host Chris Harrison tested the ladies with a game named “Capture the Heart” in which they had to tag each other with accessories dipped in paint as they were split into two teams. Things were nasty and messy with Kit and Khaylah falling.
Matt and the women later headed to their locale for the night part of the date. He had one-on-one time with Lauren and Jessenia, the latter of whom told him that she’s dealt with infidelity. “To put my heart on the line is really overwhelming,” she admitted. Matt later assured Jessenia that he would never cheat on her before they shared a kiss. At the end of the group date, Matt gave the group date rose to Lauren.

Next was another one-on-one date with Sarah. She was nervous, and maybe it was why she failed to open up to Matt. “I had a great time with Sarah today, but I could tell Sarah was struggling with something. She’s slow getting started, but I need her to be open and vulnerable, because I’ve already had other women being authentic and real, and that’s what I’m looking for,” Matt shared in confessional.
“It’s not easy opening up about something so personal to me,” she said. “I know it’s super hard to be away from home. I am such a private person… it’s so hard for me to open up. I want to share this with you.”
She then told Matt that her father was diagnosed with ALS when she was in college. “Mentally, you’re completely the same person, but you slowly lose the ability to speak and to walk and to talk,” she said. “There is no cure for it, and the life expectancy is two to five years.”
“Mentally, you’re completely the same person, but you slowly lose the ability to speak and to walk and to talk,” she continued. “There is no cure for it, and the life expectancy is two to five years.” Matt then vowed to her that he would be someone she wants to be with. They kissed and Matt presented her with a rose. They ended the night with some romantic time in the pool.
Later at the cocktail party, Marylynn and Victoria were fighting. “Marylynn was my roommate… she just like, cries to manipulate situations and she’s straight up toxic. I had to sleep on the couch temporarily… it was crazy,” she told Matt, who was “overwhelmed” by the fight.
When being confronted, Marylynn told Matt, “I mean, I’m not usually one to involve myself in drama, but I’m here to be with you. At this point, I feel like I need to defend myself. She’s jeopardizing my time with you, and that’s not OK with me. I’m telling you the honest truth, Matt.”
It was then time for the rose ceremony. Pieper, Kit, Magi and Rachael got a rose from Matt. He continued giving the roses to Abigail, Chelsea, Jessenia, Katie and Serena C. Later, Sarah felt unconscious, saying, “I’m blacking out. I can’t see.” Viewers can only find out what happens in next week’s episode.

'Crazy Rich Asians' Director Steps Away From 'Willow' to Prepare for Third Child's Birth

    WENN/Brian To

Originally signed on to tackle the pilot and serve as executive producer on the Disney Plus series, Jon M. Chu expresses his heartbreak for no longer being able to commit to the adaptation project.

    Jan 12, 2021
AceShowbiz – Director Jon M. Chu has pulled out of plans to direct the TV adaptation of cult movie, “Willow” because production will clash with the arrival of his third child.
The “Crazy Rich Asians” filmmaker originally signed on to tackle the pilot and serve as executive producer on the Disney+ series in October, but filming has been delayed as a result of the latest U.K. coronavirus lockdown, and now Chu can no longer commit to the project.
In a statement released on Monday, January 11, he wrote, “I’m heartbroken to let you all know that I unfortunately have to step away from directing Willow.”
“With the production schedule moving due to continued lockdowns in the UK, and with a new baby coming this summer (surprise!), the timing is just not going to work out for me and my family.”

Chu went on to admit he was “devastated” he was unable to work on the revamp of one of his “favorite movies” from his childhood, which even inspired his three-year-old daughter’s name, but he added, “Like a kid seeing Willow for the first time in the ’80s, I will look forward to watching this magical new world unfold as a very enthusiastic fan.”

The upcoming adaptation of “Willow” will be based on Ron Howard’s beloved 1988 film from a story by George Lucas. It starred Warwick Davis as a farmer who helps protect a baby from an evil queen, who vows to destroy the world.
In addition to little Willow, Chu and his wife, Kristin Hodge, are also parents to a one-year-old son, named Jonathan.
