AceShowbiz – FOX’s “The Masked Dancer” returned with its second episode on Wednesday, January 6. The new outing, offering a distraction amid the chaotic riots at the Capitol building, featured celebrities from Group B showing off their dancing skills in animal and food products costumes.
The first dancer to hit the stage was the Sloth who danced to “What I Like About You” by The Romantics. His clue package included a toothpaste tube with the word “Glee” and his choreography also included the L-on-forehead “loser” symbol that fans of the TV series might find familiar. The panel, who included, Ashley Tisdale, Brian Austin Green, Ken Jeong and Paula Abdul, guessed Matthew Morrison, Kevin Federline and Jason Derulo.

Ice Cube then took the stage to dance to a cover of Lady GaGa’s “Bad Romance” by Postmodern Jukebox. His clue package featured topics about climate change and the environment. Ken guessed Bill Nye, Brian thought he was Bill Maher, while Paula named Tim Gunn. As for Ashley, she thought that Ice Cube might be Al Gore.

The next dancer was Zebra, dancing to “Magalehna” by Sergio Mendes. His word-up hint was “comeback” as he revealed that he “grew up in a rough neighborhood where there was only one kind of love: Tough love.” He mentioned that being on the show was “so important” to him, adding “it’s a part of my second act, and shifting back to a higher gear.” Among those whose names were mentioned were Ricky Martin, Kevin Richardson and Pitbull.

Dancing to “Glitter in the Air” by Pink, the Cotton Candy performed her best moves. In her clue, she claimed to be a “perfectionist,” though “things in [her] life haven’t always been so sweet.” She recalled feeling homesick when she needed to “move in with a new family” to “chase my dreams.” The panelists thought that she could be Jenna Dewan, Julianne Hough or Pink herself.

As for the Moth, she opted to dance to “Boot Scootin Boogie” by Brooks & Dunn. Her word-up hint was “inspired,” while she revealed in voiceover, “One day, I was just a regular moth out of the view of the public. The next, I’m making headlines with the president. I had a traumatic experience that not many could have gone through. And in turn, my life changed forever. But I’m a survivor.” Megyn Kelly, Monica Lewinsky and Marla Maples were among the panelists’ guesses.

'The View': Joy Behar Tells Meghan McCain She 'Did Not Miss' Her During Heated Argument

    ABC

Upon watching a short clip of the on-air fight between the two co-hosts of ‘The View’, Canadian Janice Dean comments, ‘It was cruel, and of course no one came to her defense.’

    Jan 6, 2021
AceShowbiz – After taking a maternity leave, Meghan McCain returned to “The View” in the Tuesday, January 5 episode. Despite being her first episode after the hiatus, Meghan was as fiery as ever which led her to get into an argument with co-host Joy Behar.
“On the one hand you have the Republicans and on the other hand you have the seditionist,” Behar said in the episode. “Among the Democrats you have the progressives and the moderates which is de rigueur. The Republican party is in much more trouble right now….”
Meghan couldn’t wait to interrupt as she responded, “Are you kidding me? You have AOC saying…” Before she finished her sentence, Joy cut it off, saying that she wasn’t done expressing her opinion.
“Joy, you missed me so much when I was on maternity leave. You missed fighting with me,” the new mom told her co-host. Joy, however, replied bluntly, “I did not. I did not miss you. Zero.” To that, the daughter of late Senator John McCain responded, “That’s so nasty. That’s so rude.” Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg attempted to stop them from fighting.

Upon watching a short clip of the on-air fight, Canadian Janice Dean commented, “It was cruel, and of course no one came to her defense.” She went on writing on Twitter, “@MeghanMcCain has outlasted a lot of conservative women on that program, and that says a lot about her character. The online hate that comes her way is absolutely awful. She deserves better.”
“I must admit I have watched the View since their birth but today Joy was totally disgusted with Meghan. Joy looked irritated turning her head as if to look at someone in the room.. Meghan was right, Joy was very rude. She may just be burnt out staying home,” another person said.
However, someone else thought that it was Meghan who was rude to Joy for interrupting her. “Meg interrupted Joy. Rude. Then she went off on some many miles long rant at the usual rightwing fear targets AOC & Bernie. I think Joy was taking it easy on her. I didn’t miss her either and she needs to know why so many of us feel that way,” the person defended Joy.
That is hardly the first time for Meghan and Joy screaming at each other on air due to their opposite political views. Despite that, Joy claimed in November 2019 that there was no actual bad blood between her and Meghan. “We like each other!” Joy insisted at the time. “They keep writing things about how we can’t stand each other.”
“It genuinely hurts my feelings because our dressing rooms are next door to each other and you and I have the same emotional reaction to things, sometimes in different ways,” Meghan added. “We’re both upset equally, the equal amount of the same things. I wish people would give us a break, for real.”

James Corden and Jimmy Kimmel Back to Hosting Talk Shows at Home Due to Spike in Covid-19 Cases

    WENN

The ‘Late Late Show’ MC and the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ presenter kick off the New Year by hosting their TV shows at home due to rising coronavirus numbers.

    Jan 6, 2021
AceShowbiz – James Corden and Jimmy Kimmel have started filming from home again due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The talk show hosts – who present the “Late Late Show” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” respectively – have both shifted to remote production again due to restrictions in Los Angeles.
Opening his programme on Monday night (04Jan21), Jimmy laughed, “Hi, I’m Jimmy, I’m the host of this house. Thanks for watching from your house. This is our first show of the new year. An exciting new year. 2021 is in, 2020 is out.”
“I’ve been bubbling with enthusiasm, optimism. I’ve been ready for a return to normalcy. And here I am doing the show from my kitchen again. Because there’s a deadly virus, that seems to be living in LA now. It seems to have taken permanent residence here. I believe it lives across the street from me in Kendall Jenner’s old house.”
    [embedded content]
And James was also back in his own garage set at home, where he had broadcast a lot of his own show earlier in the pandemic during the summer.

He told viewers, “A very warm welcome back to my garage. That’s right, we’re back in lockdown for a few days. We’re going to be doing the show from my house until it’s safe to return.”
“So, once again, I’m saying hello to my garage and goodbye to my pants. Remember when everyone was making sourdough bread? Do you remember that? Back when people had energy.”
    [embedded content]
Before the show aired, the official “Late Late Show” Twitter account assured fans they weren’t “experiencing deja vu” as its host returned to the familiar environment.
The team tweeted, “No, you’re not experiencing deja vu. With Los Angeles back on lockdown, we’re once again taping the #LateLateShow in @JKCorden’s garage until it’s safe to return to our studio.”
“So mask up, stay safe, and we’ll see you tonight at 12:37 on CBS.”

Elisabeth Shue Credits 'The Boys' Director for Convincing Her to Do 'Cobra Kai'

    WENN/Lia Toby/Ivan Nikolov

Having surprised ‘The Karate Kid’ fans with an appearance on season 3 of its spin-off series, the Ali Mills depicter recalls how Dan Trachtenberg convinced her to think about reprising the character.

    Jan 5, 2021
AceShowbiz – “The Boys” director Dan Trachtenberg convinced Elisabeth Shue to reprise her character in Netflix’s “Karate Kid” spin-off series “Cobra Kai”, insisting he’d be “devastated” if she wasn’t part of the show.
Shue, who portrayed Ali in 1984’s “Karate Kid”, stunned fans of the film and its updated series when she appeared in two episodes of the streaming hit’s third season, which launched on Friday, January 1, and she admits she wasn’t even thinking about returning to the screen as the character until she started filming Amazon show “The Boys” with Trachtenberg.

“To be honest, I really hadn’t thought about being on Cobra Kai,” she tells Entertainment Weekly. “When I showed up on the set for the first day, Dan came right over and said, ‘You’re doing Cobra Kai, right?’ I was like, ‘What? I don’t know… Do you think that’s a good idea?’ ”
“He goes, ‘Is that a good idea? You have to be on Cobra Kai!’ I said, ‘Why, why do you care so much?’ He said, ‘You have no idea how important The Karate Kid is in my life’. He told me what a great movie it is and how much he loved Cobra Kai, and that it would just be devastating… for the fans and for the memory of The Karate Kid if I wasn’t (on the show).”
“I was like, ‘Whoa! OK!’ It was just very sweet, and it made me think, ‘Oh, I haven’t really investigated this’. Then I sat down with the three producers and writers who created it… and they were so lovely and similar to Dan – super Karate Kid fans. They really wanted to wait and have Ali come back this season, primarily I guess because it’s a reunion season. I said, ‘I’ll do whatever you need’.”

'Jeopardy!' Boss Calls Alex Trebek 'Absolute Warrior' for Filming His Final Episodes

    NBC

Nearly two months after the TV game show host passed away from cancer, executive producer Mike Richards reveals that his late colleague was ‘in enormous pain’ when taping what now would be his last episodes.

    Jan 5, 2021
AceShowbiz – ‘Jeopardy!’ boss has expressed adoration at Alex Trebek’s dedication to the show during his battle with pancreatic cancer. Nearly two months after the TV game show host passed away, executive producer Mike Richards described his late colleague as an “absolute warrior” for filming his final episodes amid his illness.
“He was an absolute warrior and what he was able to do by getting himself back to the set to tape those final episodes,” Mike said of Alex during his virtual appearance on “Today” show on Monday, January 4. “We didn’t know it was going to be his final episodes and neither did he. But it was herculean. He was in enormous pain.”
Mike revealed to co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb that Alex made a return to the set just around one week before he died. “He was, you know, 10 days away from passing away and you will not sense any of that in these episodes. He is strong. He sounds great. He’s funny and he’s amazing,” he gushed.
“I think a normal person would have said I’m not going to show up a year and a half before those final episodes,” he claimed. “I mean, he was getting chemotherapy once a week. So, I think there was a level of professionalism. I think he really understood the importance of the show and what it meant to people, and to make what I have always said, he made being smart cool.”

      See also…

Mike also mentioned that Alex insisted on shooting what would now be his last episodes on the show. “The week before we taped those episodes, he was in the hospital. This man was unbelievable. He calls me and he said, ‘Mike, I’m going to be fine. I’ll be in to tape. I was able to eat Jello today,’ ” he explained.
“I went, ‘Alex, that’s great, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to be ready to host five episodes of a game show,’ which is an enormous amount of effort,” he continued recalling. “And he said, ‘Do not cancel. I will be there.’ ”
Mike additionally divulged that Alex shared some powerful messages in one of his last episodes. “He comes out and gives this absolutely amazing speech about the tough times that we’re in and the importance of us as a country, as a community, humanity, coming together and being there for each other,” he said.

“Usually in his monologue, he would come out, give a statement and then go to the categories,” he went on. “There’s not very many people in the studio because of COVID and we all burst into applause. You don’t see it on camera, but as he’s going to the categories, he sees us start to applaud and he kinda looks at us [like] ‘What are you guys doing?’ and we were so moved that we had to applaud.”

Jodie Whittaker Rumored to Leave 'Doctor Who' After Season 13

    BBC

Rumor has it, the actress who plays the thirteenth incarnation of the Time Lord will not return to reprise her role after completing the upcoming 13th season.

    Jan 5, 2021
AceShowbiz – Jodie Whittaker is reportedly gearing up to leave “Doctor Who” at the end of the current series.
The actress made history as the first female incarnation of the Time Lord, but is believed to have told BBC bosses that she’s hanging up her Sonic Screwdriver once and for all after the upcoming 13th season.
“It’s all very hush-hush but it is known on set that Jodie is leaving and they are gearing up for a regeneration,” a source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. “Her departure is top secret but at some point over the coming months the arrival of the 14th Doctor will need to be filmed. It’s very exciting.”
When contacted about the report, the BBC played coy, issuing a statement which read, “We won’t be commenting on any speculation around Jodie’s future on the show.”

If the report of Jodie’s departure is correct, she would be the third Doctor to leave the programme after three seasons – following in the footsteps of Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi.
The report about her exit comes after it was announced that British comedian John Bishop is joining the show for the next season.
Bishop made his debut on the show in an episode airing Friday, January 1. At the end of the outing, he was announced as the Time Lord’s companion for the next installment.
“I have loved the last few months on set and I am looking forward to working with the brilliant team in 2021,” he tweeted after the episode. “Honour to join such a legendary show.”

NeNe Leakes Dubs Andy Cohen 'Sociopath' and Drags Former 'RHOA' Star Kim Zolciak

    WENN/Instar/Avalon

NeNe calls out the franchise over the different treatment between her and Kim, her fellow OG star of ‘RHOA’, who is given a solo TV show ‘Don’t Be Tardy…’ after exiting ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’.

    Jan 4, 2021
AceShowbiz – NeNe Leakes isn’t done blasting “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and its executive producer Andy Cohen. Following her exit from the Bravo reality TV show, NeNe appeared to label Andy a “sociopath” in a series of Instagram Story posts.
“That sociopath making sure he’s the only one that gets to shine,” NeNe wrote alongside a video of a lion strolling a parking lot. The Swagg Boutique owner continued in another post, “Everyone is manipulated.” While NeNe didn’t name anyone in her posts, people assumed that she was taking a jab at Andy.
Additionally, she called out the franchise over the different treatment between her and Kim Zolciak, her fellow OG star of “RHOA”, who is given a solo TV show “Don’t Be Tardy…” after exiting the show. “How ironic is it that all the ORIGINAL BLACK housewives were all demoted, and the ONLY WHITE housewife promoted and still working today! Just food for thought,” NeNe wrote on December 22, 2020.
The next day, she clapped back at a fan who seemingly thought that she was bitter for not being offered with a satisfying deal for season 13 of “RHOA”. “Someone help me out here. @NeNeLeakes is calling for a boycott of @BravoTV, who made her rich and famous,” the fan tweeted in response to NeNe calling for “RHOA” boycott earlier in December. “For over 11 years. Then she had a mental breakdown on camera, and all the women turned on her. But she is accusing them of what? Racism? Y’all help me out. @Andy,” the fan added.

      See also…

Correcting the fan, NeNe wrote back, “I made them rich and famous.”
This arrived after NeNe took to her Twitter account to ask her fans to boycott season 13 of RHOA which premiered on December 6 last year. “Y’all ready to start this boycott yet? What has happened behind the scenes is WRONG!” NeNe tweeted. “While others were being promoted, BLACK WOMEN who created shows, created genres, built franchise and built networks were being DEMOTED … TURN OFF YOUR TV’S.”
In a separate tweet, the “Glee” actress went on to urge her fans, “Sign the petitions when you see them, repost the boycott flyers when you see them, turn off your TVs.”
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight last October, NeNe detailed why she deciced to depart from “RHOA”. “I left the show,” NeNe explained. “I had an offer on the table. I did not think the offer was a fair offer.” When asked if she’s open to return to the Bravo show, NeNe appeared to shut down the possibility, saying, “I wish them all the best, really, I do. But I don’t think that’s the place for me.”
