    AceShowbiz – Fans hoping to see multiple Spider-Man in the upcoming movie may need to calm down their excitement. Following reports that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may return as the web-crawler in “Spider-Man 3” starring Tom Holland, Sony Pictures has said that they were nothing more than just rambling rumors.
    “Those rumored castings are not confirmed,” a representative for the studio tells ET Canada when asked about Maguire and Garfield’s possible appearances in the “Spider-Man: Far From Home” sequel. The statement, however, doesn’t sound like a straight denial.
    Words spread starting earlier this month that Holland, Maguire and Garfield will be uniting in the upcoming Spider-Man movie that may feature multiverse storyline. According to FandomWire, “Sony and Marvel are still finalizing a version of the script that features all three Spider-Men tackling many of their villains from the past, as well as new ones.”
    As for the “villains from the past” that were mentioned in the supposed spoiler, they reportedly include Jamie Foxx’s Electro as well as Venom (Tom Hardy), Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Green Goblin.     With Maguire and Garfield castings not being confirmed, the reports about the said villains’ appearances should be taken with a grain of salt as well. However, Foxx previously seemed to let the cat out of the bag as he shared a screenshot of an article about his casting news.
    He wrote in the caption of the now-deleted post, “Tell Spidey let’s run it back!… super excited to [be] part of the new marvel Spider-Man new installment…” The 52-year-old star additionally revealed that his villainous character will get a new look for the upcoming Spider-Man movie. “can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!! But a thousand percent bada**!!!” so he teased.
    Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is also reported to appear in the film and fill in a mentor role that was previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in “Far From Home”. With his own upcoming movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” being set to be released after “Spider-Man 3”, it is believed that he will make way for the multiverse storyline in “Spider-Man 3”.
    “Spider-Man 3” has kicked off production earlier this week in New York, according to filming notices plastered in the city. The shooting announcements for “Serenity Now”, the working title of the movie, revealed that they already filmed on October 14.

Now, Tobey Maguire has been added to the rambling talks about this multiverse theory.
    We Got This Covered claims to have heard from a reliable source that “The Great Gatsby” actor has been in talks with Marvel Studios to appear not only in the follow-up to “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, but also in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.
    The site, however, doesn’t not mention if Maguire will reprise his role as Peter Parker from Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy or if he will portray a new character. The news, meanwhile, supports previous report by FandomWire, which claimed that both Maguire and Andrew Garfield are expected to return in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

    The Academy Award-nominated actor is reportedly going to fill in a mentor role that was previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in “Far From Home”. As The Hollywood Reporter puts it, the role “gives Peter Parker a father figure and gives the movies extra star power while tying them to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
    The report of Doctor Strange’s appearance in “Spider-Man 3” has not been confirmed by Marvel. Cumberbatch’s rumored involvement in the upcoming movie arrives after it was reported that Jamie Foxx is going to return as Electro in the same movie.     According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actor is now in “final talks” to reprise the role from 2014’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, which starred Andrew Garfield in the title role. The upcoming movie will still have Holland back as the web-crawler.
    Marvel, which has teamed up with Sony for the previous two “Spider-Man” movies, has not confirmed the news of Foxx’s casting. Jon Watts, who directed “Far From Home”, is board to return behind the lens for the next installment.

    The future of Holland’s Spider-Man was previously on the verge of being thrown into jeopardy after Sony parted ways with Marvel in August 2019. With no new deal being struck, Spider-Man would cease to appear in MCU blockbusters.
    However, a month later the two studios managed to come to an agreement that will allow Spidey’s journey in the MCU to continue. As part of the new deal between the Hollywood powerhouses, Holland will return for another standalone Spider-Man movie and make an appearance in a non-standalone Marvel film.

    Having been confirmed to return for another standalone movie and an appearance in a non-standalone movie, the ‘Far From Home’ actor says Sony had a ‘wonderful’ plan to take his character out of the MCU.

    AceShowbiz – Before Tom Holland managed to convince Sony to sign off on a deal with Disney to co-produce another standalone movie for Spider-Man, the web-crawler was on the brink of exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though the superhero’s future is pretty much sealed for the time being, Sony was apparently prepared should it have to take out Spider-Man out of the MCU.
    In a new interview MTV News, Holland reveals that Sony had mapped out a plan to transition Spider-Man out of the MCU in case they weren’t able to reach an agreement with Disney and Marvel Studios. Gushing about the “wonderful” idea, the British actor says he was confident that the friendly neighborhood hero’s future was still “bright” even if he had to cut ties with other Marvel superheroes.
    “[The] future for Spider-Man was still very bright with Sony and we had a really, really wonderful idea how we could sort of transition into a Spider-Man without the MCU,” he shares. The “Avengers: Endgame” star goes on claiming, “and Tom Rothman and Amy Pascal were really confidant that they were gonna do justice and make a film of the calibre that Spider-Man requires.”
    Fortunately, Spider-Man isn’t leaving the MCU just yet. “But that said, I’m really glad to be back in the MCU and to have the team back together because I kind of feel like it’s where he belongs now,” Holland says.
    Bragging about his role in keeping Spider-Man within the MCU, the 23-year-old adds, “I’m really grateful that Bob Iger and Tom Rothman allowed me to be a part of the process of bringing him home, it was a pretty cool experience and also the best bragging rights ever, I saved Spider-Man.”

    Holland has been set to return for another standalone Spider-Man movie and make an appearance in a non-standalone Marvel film. The third Spider-Man movie is scheduled to start production in July.
