Whitney Houston Hologram Tour Compared to Slavery

    Instagram

Negative reviews are pouring in shortly after the opening night of ‘An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour’ in the United Kingdom.
    Feb 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Whitney Houston hologram tour didn’t go down too well with reviewers on its opening night on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, with one commenting “it’s probably best to let sleeping stars lie.”
The 48-year-old singer, who died in 2012 and last toured in 2009, has been reincarnated in holographic form for “An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour”, which had its world premiere in Sheffield, England on Tuesday night.
And while many fans were thrilled with the likeness of the late star, created by BASE Hologram, some of the reviewers who watched the show had less than complimentary things to say about it.

“As any horror movie fan will tell you, bringing the dead back to life never works out well,” the Daily Mirror’s Alum Palmer wrote. “The firm behind the show has postponed an Amy Winehouse hologram tour but it’s probably best to let sleeping stars lie.”
Meanwhile, while the Daily Mail’s Jan Moir praised the “skillfully created” hologram, she admitted the show didn’t feel “entirely respectful” – to “force their ghost into slavery and profit from the imagery.”
“Dead is dead, after all,” she continued. “Don’t you think that there has been enough ignominy in Whitney Houston’s life? She doesn’t need this farrago of a show because her legacy is already there; burnished and beautiful in the recordings, the films, the concert footage, the music – and in our memories, too. So beam her back up, Scotty – and let her rest in peace.”
An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour will continue at various venues across the U.K., before travelling to Europe and North America.

    WENN/Avalon

The ‘Empire’ actress is one of the favorite candidates to portray the late ‘I Have Nothing’ singer in an upcoming true-story movie in the works with Clive Davis.
    Jan 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taraji P. Henson could be set to channel late diva Whitney Houston on the big screen, if the singer’s sister-in-law Pat gets her way.
Pat is working closely with record executive Clive Davis, who played a key role in the “I Have Nothing” star’s rise to success, on the upcoming project, and told TMZ her hopes for the planned movie.
While the film is in its early stages, she teased the pair are considering several “options” to play the leading role, before adding, “I love Taraji P. Henson.”
She added, “Taraji is my girl.”
Pat was also full of praise for Clive, who she described as a “wonderful person.”
“Let me just say this… We have a wonderful relationship,” she said, adding, “Anything that we can do for him… it’s done. ”
Whitney passed away at the age of 48 after she was found unconscious in a bathtub on 11 February, 2012. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office listed her death as an “accident” caused by drowning and the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use,” while toxicology results discovered substances including Benadryl and Xanax in her system.
