Gal Gadot Burst Into Tears Watching 'Wonder Woman 1984' for First Time

    Warner Bros. Pictures

The Diana Prince depicter has a very reaction to the ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel, claiming that she was overwhelmed with emotions when she was watching it for the first time.

    Jan 10, 2021
AceShowbiz – Gal Gadot was “caught off guard” by her emotions the first time she saw “Wonder Woman 1984”.
The 35-year-old actress was so transported by the film – in which she plays Diana Prince and her titular alter ego – that she didn’t even think about her own involvement.
She told HELLO! Magazine, “I can’t tell you about the moment in the movie that made me cry other than it happens at the very beginning.”
“I’ve never experienced that before. I was watching and all of a sudden I wasn’t the actress, the producer, or anything on set.”
“I was a little girl from a suburb in Israel watching this amazing character doing such incredible things. And I’m not an easy crier. I’m not the kind of woman who watches commercials and cries.”

“I just had such a strong reaction to this movie and it caught me off guard. Usually, I save my crying for special occasions… like when I’m pregnant!”
Gadot is proud her character has proven to be inspirational for so many people.
She said, “It’s something I wasn’t really prepared for, so to see and hear the reaction from women, men, boys and girls, is just incredible.”
And one fan, in particular, has stuck with her.
She said, “There was one little boy I will always remember. He saw the movie and told his mother, ‘When I grow up, I want to be a woman.’ ”
“It was all because of Wonder Woman and everything she stands for and symbolises.”

Pedro Pascal Credits Patty Jenkins for His Involvement in 'Wonder Woman 1984'

    Warner Bros. Pictures/WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

When speaking about his portrayal of villainous Max Lord in the ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel, ‘The Mandalorian’ star explains the reason why he jumped at the opportunity.

    Dec 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Actor Pedro Pascal jumped at the opportunity to star in the “Wonder Woman” sequel because he was so eager to work with director Patty Jenkins.
“The Mandalorian” star portrays villain Max Lord in “Wonder Woman 1984”, and although it’s a gig he relished, he admits he would have done anything just to be in the filmmaker’s presence.
“I didn’t care what it was,” Pascal told The Associated Press. “I still have trouble wrapping my head around the opportunity.”
Pascal had actually worked with Jenkins years earlier on a TV pilot which never got picked up, but the director never forgot about his charisma and talent, and he was the first person who came to mind when she was casting the role of Lord.
“I just adored him,” Jenkins said. “I thought he was such a great guy and such an interesting person and an excellent actor.”

“But when I was sitting and thinking about who could pull this off, I just knew that he could do it. There was something about Pedro that I knew he could hit every different mark and also reveal a side of himself I wasn’t sure that even he had gotten to use yet.”
Pascal stars alongside Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, and Gal Gadot as the titular superhero in the new blockbuster, but it wasn’t his first time starring in a “Wonder Woman” project.
The actor was previously tapped for a TV reboot of the DC Comics series back in 2011, and featured in an unaired pilot with Adrianne Paliciki as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.
Pascal had forgotten about his involvement in the scrapped show, and he was glad Jenkins didn’t appear to be aware of it at the time of his casting in “WW84”, either.
He recalled to CinemaBlend, “I think that because of the impact of the first (Wonder Woman) movie, and then, of course, the idea of getting to work with Patty Jenkins, it never occurred to me.
“And I’m glad that it didn’t because I think I probably would’ve been paranoid if they knew I had already had a go at a Wonder Woman project. Maybe they didn’t know at the time.”

Pedro Pascal's Idea of 'Polished' 'Wonder Woman 1984' Villain Rejected by Patty Jenkins

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

The ‘Game of Thrones’ alum reveals he initially thought Michael Douglas’ classic “Wall Street” character Gordon Gekko would be the perfect inspiration for his Max Lord, but the director didn’t want the baddie to be so polished.

    Dec 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pedro Pascal had to ditch plans to base his new “Wonder Woman 1984” villain on Michael Douglas’ classic “Wall Street” character, because director Patty Jenkins didn’t want his baddie to be so polished.
The former “Game of Thrones” star initially thought cold and calculating businessman Gordon Gekko in his power suit would be the perfect character to draw inspiration from for his Max Lord, but he was forced to abandon that idea after a chat with Jenkins.
“She pulled me away from that,” Pascal explained to The Associated Press. “She was like, ‘That’s not the polish that we’re after.’ ”
Instead, Jenkins steered him in a slightly different direction, and the actor ended up loving that take on Lord, a minor TV personality and aspiring oil tycoon. “What we went after was so much more unpredictable and exposed,” he said.

“The thing that would ultimately anchor me to him was far more vulnerable than what a Gordon Gekko-type would be.”
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pascal weighed in on what he thinks his character’s perception of his himself. “I think that he strives to see himself as a part of an ideal, and in a way that so many of us do.”
He continued, “Whether it’s the perfect body on Instagram or just like the perfect day expressed on Facebook, the perfect job, the perfect life, ‘living my best life,’ whatever version of that — which I think in the era that WW1984 takes place is pretty clear to us, that kind of unbridled excess, a very specific definition of success and whatever the quote-unquote American dream is,” he shared. “I think that he strives to be seen that way, is desperate to see himself that way, and is unwilling to see himself for who or what he really is.”
“Wonder Woman 1984”, which stars Gal Gadot as the titular superhero, premieres in U.S. theatres and on streaming service HBO Max on Christmas Day (December 25). It was pushed back from its planned June 5 release due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Patty Jenkins Gets Candid Why She Found It Easy to Walk Away From 'Wonder Woman 1984'

    WENN/FayesVision

When revealing how close she actually came to ditching the sequel project over equity demands, the ‘Wonder Woman’ director stresses her career had never been about making money.

    Dec 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Filmmaker Patty Jenkins had “started to walk away” from “Wonder Woman 1984” before Warner Bros. studio bosses finally agreed to bow to her pay equity demands.
Jenkins was highly praised by movie critics and fans alike after teaming up with actress Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman’s first solo blockbuster in 2017, when it banked more than $821 million (£607 million) at the global box office.
However, it took some time before Warner Bros. chiefs announced the director would be returning to take charge of the follow-up, “Wonder Woman 1984”, amid reports suggesting Jenkins was leveraging her position to land a better deal.
Now she has opened up about how close she actually came to cutting ties with the DC Comics project altogether, simply because she was determined to stand up for herself and demand the same pay as male filmmakers receive for superhero blockbusters.
In a candid interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, she confessed, “I started to walk away. I was gonna walk away. I even said I’d be happy to go to another studio and make a quarter as much because it’s not a sequel, on principle, no problem.”
Jenkins admits her career had never been about making money, because she never had the leverage, but this time around, she knew it was “time to turn the tables,” especially as it was easy to find out how much her male counterparts were making for the same kind of work.

“They got paid seven times more than me for (their) first superhero movie,” she explained. “Then on the second one, they got paid more than me still. It was an easy fight to say, ‘This can’t be. It super can’t be. And it really can’t be on Wonder Woman…’ ”
“It was an interesting thing to do, but it was an easy thing to do in the fact I was dead serious. That I was like, ‘If I can’t be victorious in this regard, then I’m letting everyone down.’ If not me, who? So it became something I became very, very, very passionate about.”

Now Jenkins is looking to the future after the launch of “Wonder Woman 1984”, which hits U.S. audiences on Christmas Day (December 25), and she’s unsure if she will be back for Wonder Woman 3.
She and screenwriter and comic book author Geoff Johns have already outlined a plot for the next instalment in the DC Extended Universe franchise, but whether Jenkins will be back in the director’s chair remains to be seen – and it all depends on the status of the movie industry once the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
“It’s interesting, I actually came up with a story, and Geoff Johns and I beat out an entire story for ‘Wonder Woman 3’ that we were super fired up about, but I’ve never felt this way before as much as I do now,” she mused.
“I don’t think I’m doing it next,” she continued, “and so I have to sort of wait and see where we are in the world, you know? What I wanted to talk about in (WW84) was very prescient to what I was feeling and what you were sort of feeling was coming. So now I’m not sure. So much has changed in the world.”

Chris Pine Gets Into Details Why He Thinks Fanny Pack Should Be Trendy Again

    Warner Bros. Pictures

When promoting ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Ryan’, the Steve Trevor depicter redirects question about his character’s reappearance in the sequel to talks about his ’80s costumes.

    Dec 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pine’s character isn’t the only thing coming back to life in “Wonder Woman 1984 – the Christmas blockbuster is rebooting 1980s fashion trends.
Pine’s character Steve Trevor – the love interest of Gal Gadot’s titular character – appeared to die in the first Wonder Woman film, released in 2017, but he reappears in the sequel.
Chris isn’t allowed to share any details about his mysterious return, but he’s more than happy to chat about the film’s 1980s revival.
“My character in the first ‘Wonder Woman’ is a world-weary vet (veteran) and he’s jaded about what the world can be all about it and how bad humans can be,” he tells “Live with Kelly and Ryan”.

In this one, he’s kind of wide-eyed and excited about everything and ready for the experience, even about parachute pants and what not, so it was fun for me to flip the script on the character.”

The “Star Trek” actor had no problem sporting parachute pants in the film, set more than 35 years ago, but he’s most excited about making another 80s style staple – the fanny pack – trendy again.
“The fanny pack, I will say, is a very clever device…,” he raves. “I think for a gentleman, or anyone that really wants to wear a well fitted pant, the fanny pack provides both a protection of the silhouette of the pant while also providing incredible storage space.”
“Wonder Woman 1984” will be released in theatres and on streaming service HBO Max on Christmas Day (December 25).

    [embedded content]

Warner Bros. has released a new sneak peek for the ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel starring Gal Gadot ahead of the movie’s Christmas (December 25) release in theaters and HBO Max.

    Dec 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – While fans have long waited for “Wonder Woman 1984”, the world may not be ready for the superheroine and her super powers. A new teaser released for the movie during Brazil’s CCXP on Sunday, December 6 contains this warning.
It features a voiceover saying, “Diana, one day, you will become all that you dream of and more. Everything will be different. This world is not yet ready for all that you will do. You will become a legend.”
The footage, meanwhile, switches from scenes showing Diana Prince’s (Gal Gadot) romantic and tender moments with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and her using her powers in heroic actions. The video ends with Diana and Steve staring lovingly at each other in what looks like a plane.
“Wonder Woman 1984” is set in 1984, during the Cold War. According to the official synopsis, Diana comes into conflict with two formidable foes-media businessman Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-enemy Barbara Ann Minerva while reuniting with her love interest Steve Trevor.
Kristen Wiig stars as Barbara Ann Minerva a.k.a. Cheetah, while Pedro Pascal is cast as Maxwell Lord. Robin Wright (previously Robin Wright Penn) returns as Antiope, general of the Amazon army and Diana’s aunt, with Connie Nielsen returning as Hippolyta, the queen of Themyscira and Diana’s mother.

It feels both bigger than the first WW while simultaneously more contained. Lots of Diana Prince and some epic Wonder Woman moments as @GalGadot literally soars!”
Cinema Blend’s Eric Eisenberg gushed, “Huge news: Wonder Woman 1984 is fantastic! The story is excellent & has a great, timely message; it packs in a ton of surprises; and amazing work is done with both Cheetah & Max Lord (Wiig & Pascal are both stellar). Get hyped, because it’s the real deal.”
Amy Ratcliffe, managing editor at Nerdist, said that “Wonder Woman 1984” is “just what I needed. What we all need. It’s uplifting, hopeful, and so utterly Wonder Woman. Just a beautiful film with themes that hit you right in the heart.” She added, “WW84 doesn’t look or feel like any other modern superhero movie. I can’t wait for us all to talk about it!”
Fandago’s managing editor Erik Davis also chimed in, “I’m so happy to report that #WW84 is an absolute blast from start to finish. An exceptional compliment to the first film, it’s stuffed w/ heart, hope, love, action, romance & humor. @PattyJenks, @GalGadot & team delivered one of DC’s best sequels. I was in tears when it ended.”

  • This 'Wonder Woman 1984' Star Turns His DC Movie Script Into Comic Book

    Warner Bros. Pictures

Pedro Pascal who is set to antagonize Gal Gadot in the ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel has turned his script into his own graphic novel to help him learn his lines.
    Oct 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pedro Pascal turned his script for new superhero movie “Wonder Woman 1984” into a comic book to help him learn his lines.
The “Game of Thrones” actor stars as Max Lord in the new DC Comics movie, a businessman nemesis to Gal Gadot’s title character.
In order to get a feel of how to play a larger than life villain, he transformed his script into a pop-art scrapbook featuring pictures of the character taken from the comic books, adding text bubbles containing his lines.
“I felt like I had wake myself up again in a big way,” he tells Variety of his unorthodox approach. “This was just a practical way of, like, instead of going home tired and putting Netflix on, (I would) actually deal with this physical thing, doodle and think about it and run it.”

Director Patty Jenkins, who worked with Pedro on an unaired 2015 TV pilot, “Exposed”, had no qualms about casting the usually reserved actor in a cartoonish part.
“I didn’t need him to prove anything for me,” she adds. “I just loved the idea of him, and I thought he would be kind of unexpected, because he doesn’t scream ‘villain.’ ”
“I would never cast him as just the stoic, quiet guy,” Jenkins says. “I almost think he’s unrecognizable from Narcos (TV series) to Wonder Woman. Wouldn’t even know that was the same guy. But I think that may change.”
“Wonder Woman 1984” is scheduled for release on Christmas Day (25Dec20).
