Ben Shephard speechless as Tipping Point player 'steals' from fellow contestant

Ben Shephard was impressed this evening, as he congratulated one Tipping Point contestant on “stealing” from another.

Two contestants made it to the semi-final of the nail-biting ITV quiz show – Sam and Steven.

However, Steven’s luck started to dwindle as Sam outsmarted him in the quickfire round, when a question about a US sitcom appeared on the screen.

The question read: “Which animated US TV series centres around CIA agent Stan Smith and his family?”

Though it was his turn to play for extra money, Steven decided not to answer and passed the question over to his competitor Sam.

Ben Shephard praised contestant Sam for the clever “steal” this evening

In a flash, Sam delivered the correct answer of “American Dad,” as the studio lit up in a shade of green.

Floored by the crafty theft, Ben exclaimed: “Great steal there Sam!”

Created by Family Guy inventor Seth MacFarlane, American Dad first aired back in 2005, since spanning 15 seasons.

Defeated, Steven admitted he didn’t know the answer, saying: “I was thinking of Family Guy, which it’s not.”

The question about American Dad threw Steven, and his time on the competition came to an end

The clever move meant Steven’s time on the show had come to an end, as he bid farewell to Ben and episode champion Sam.

After making it through to the final with £2,000, Ben asked Sam what he planned to do with his winnings – resulting in a conflicted answer.

He replied: “There’s two answers here Ben. There’s a prudent one and there’s a bit more rogue one.”

First up, Sam confessed he needed cash to splash on a mortgage with his girlfriend Vicky, as they gear up to buy their first home together.

Contestant Sam made it through to the final, hoping to win enough cash for a trip to Vegas

Looking bashful, he then added: “But then the rogue one, I do fancy a trip to Vegas.”

Ushering him towards the dropzones, Ben assured him his chances were high in making the jackpot.

Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
