Molly-Mae Hague quits Twitter after vicious trolling over designer giveaway

Molly-Mae Hague has temporarily quit Twitter after she received nasty abuse from users, responding to her generous £8,000 giveaway.

The 20-year-old influencer, who rose to fame on last summer’s Love Island, launched the giveaway to celebrate reaching one million Instagram followers.

Worth a whopping £8,000, the deal – which was funded entirely by Molly-Mae – featured Louis Vuitton handbags, Apple tech, and goodies from her beauty range.

However, as soon as she announced the giveaway on social media, a number of cruel trolls started slamming the project, mocking the former reality star.

In response to the backlash, Molly-Mae wrote: “£10 to any boy that’s not tweeted ‘£10 to any girl that’s not entered Molly-Mae’s giveaway’….. terms and conditions apply x.”

She then took to Instagram to open up about the trolling, making it clear her feelings had been hurt by the unnecessary backlash.

She said: “I’ve been kind of trying to not look at Twitter too much just because even though it’s meant to be a lovely thing and something we can all enjoy together people still have their mad opinions on it always.

“And I’m one of those people that do tend to read things and I do tend to let it get to me but I just made this giveaway for something for us all to enjoy together, a way that we can celebrate having a million subscribers together and also a way for me to give back was the main thing.

“I wouldn’t have any of this stuff without you guys, I wouldn’t be able to do any of the things I do.”

She added: “Like even be where I am now in Milan that wouldn’t be happening without you guys so it’s just a way I can give back and say thank you really.”

Those hoping to get their hands on the hefty giveaway were instructed to like and follow Molly-Mae’s Instagram pages, and subscribe to her YouTube channel.

Thrilled to reach one million followers, the former Islander – who is in a relationship with boxer Tommy Fury – admitted the milestone was a dream come true.

Plugging the giveaway, she originally told fans: “I can’t put into words what this means to me.

“Since the age of 16 I’ve had this dream and goal in my mind and today we did it… my mind is blown.

“Without you guys this dream would never have become a reality, so it’s only right that I give back. THIS IS MY CRAZY GIVEAWAY!!!!”
