Christine McGuinness says mum is 'not doing well' amid cancer battle

Christine McGuinness urged her Instagram followers to “pray for better times ahead” as her mum continues to fight an aggressive form of cancer.

The former Real Housewives of Cheshire star was finding it difficult to remain positive when her children’s grandmother was facing such a tough time on her own.

To make matters worse, the 32-year-old shared her heartache of not being able to be with her, over the course of the next few months, due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic.

Last time Paddy McGuinness’s wife addressed fans, she had dreaded the six month period ahead as her mother began her chemotherapy treatment while shielding herself away from everyone.

Returning to social media to provide her followers with an update, Christine was devastated she couldn’t shed happier light on the situation.

The reality star confirmed that chemotherapy had now began for her mum and that the tragic effects of undergoing the treatment had also surfaced.

Remaining brave while trying to be positive for her loved one, she wrote: “Love and strength to my mum.

“The strongest most caring woman I know going through the most difficult time alone. It’s heartbreaking.”

Explaining the situation, she added: “Lots of you are asking how she’s doing, I wish I could say she’s doing well but she’s not.

“Her cancer is aggressive, she has started her 6 months of chemotherapy and her hair is already falling out.”

Christine was feeling particularly anguished due to the restrictions currently in place surrounding Covid-19.

With the virus beginning to surge across the UK and especially in the North of the country, where Christine lives, she can’t even be with her mother to console her at this difficult time.

She continued: “Today is a bad day and I can’t even see her or give her a hug.

“Pray for better times ahead.”

Fans and celebrities flooded the comments section to provide the TV starlet with warmth and love at a time when it is most needed.

This Morning’s host Ruth Langsford was on hand to provide her thoughts and well wishes, she said: “Oh Christine… sending you and your mum a HUGE hug of strength.”

Family friend Peter Andre, also added: “Thinking of you and your mum Christine.”
