AceShowbiz – Liam Gallagher‘s “MTV Unplugged” live record is the U.K.’s new number one album.
The MTV Unplugged performance, which was recorded live at Hull City Hall in England last August 2019, tops Friday’s Official Charts Company rundown to become the first live record to do so since George Michael‘s “Symphonica” in March 2014.
Celebrating the news, Liam tells OfficialCharts.com, “Nobody told me there’d be days like these, strange days indeed. Most peculiar mama. 3 number 1 albums in 3 years… not bad for an unsophisticated parka monkey. Thanks to everyone who made it happen.”
At two is Lady GaGa‘s “Chromatica”, with Lewis Capaldi‘s “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent” rising one place to three. In fourth spot is Dua Lipa‘s “Future Nostalgia”, and Harry Styles‘ “Fine Line” completes the top five.
In the singles chart, DaBaby and Roddy Ricch‘s “Rockstar” makes it five non-consecutive weeks at number one, once again beating Gaga and Ariana Grande‘s “Rain On Me” into second place.
At three is S1mba and DTG‘s “Rover”, with German DJ Topic and Swedish singer A7S‘ “Breaking Me” in fourth spot. Completing the top five is AJ Tracey and Mostack‘s “Dinner Guest”.
