Will Mellor accidentally put down someone else's cat in horrifying error

Will Mellor has told of his horror after accidentally putting down someone else’s cat in a fatal case of mistaken identity.

The actor, 44, explained how he was advised to put a cat down due to it being in ill health by his vet.

Agreeing, the heartbroken actor arranged for the pet to be put to sleep in 24 hours time give his family one final day with the mog.

The only problem was, after a month of grieving their own cat returned home leaving them baffled.

Recalling the incident, Will told pal Ralf Little on their Two Pints With Will and Ralf podcast: “I get a knock on the door — ‘We’ve got your cat’.

“It was haggard. He had something wrong with his throat.

“So I took him to the vet, and they said, ‘He’s got throat cancer, got it really bad, we advise you put him down’.”

The former Hollyoaks star continued: “I thought, my daughter’s going to be upset.

“So I brought him home, let them have one more day with the cat, taking pictures with him, saying goodbye to him.

“On the day, I was so upset they put me in the relatives’ room. It was terrible, I was so emotional.

Revealing how things turned weird, Will added: “Anyway, a month goes by and then the buzzer goes — ‘We’ve got your cat, it’s been run over’.

“It was someone else’s cat. I’ve put down someone else’s cat!

“So I’m like, ‘Who the f**k’s on my windowsill then? I’ve got the ashes of someone’s cat on there, and they don’t know where the cat is, and I’ve just killed it.”

Earlier this year, Will was left heartbroken after his father passed away from a seizure.
