Coronation Street stalwart Sally Dynevor – who portrays her namesake Sally Metcalfe – has already started to train for her rumoured upcoming Dancing on Ice appearance.
She’s even been spotted slicing up the ice rink once or twice, so it looks like it’s really happening!
A telly insider revealed to The Sun: “ITV have been keen to get Sally on the ice for a number of years and she has tried out in the past, but they haven’t been able to make it work.”
Perhaps the Lancashire lass couldn’t find time between filming for the long-running ITV soap and her home life with hubby Tim Dynevor and three kids.
Among her brood is the talented Phoebe Dyvenor, who played Daphne Bridgerton on racy Netflix period drama Bridgerton.
Whatever held Sally back before, she’s keen to get her skates on now.
The iconic soap star is reportedly committed to her training, making sure she squeezes in a minimum of one session at the ice rink each week – usually on Sundays.
The source went on to tell the Sun: “Sally is one of Corrie’s best loved stars, her daughter Phoebe is also now a household name so the timing couldn’t be better.”
The 58-year-old won’t be the first Corrie star to leave the cobbles behind for a spell on the popular ITV dancing show, with co-stars Faye Brookes, Samia Longchambon and Lisa George all doing the same in the past.
Sally has become a real household name since joining the cast of Coronation Street in 1986.
In honour of her outstanding 35-year contribution to one of the UK’s best-loved soap operas, the Middleton-born actress was awarded a well-deserved MBE in the 2021 New Year Honours for services to drama.
This comes in the same year panto dame Christopher Biggins slammed the UK honours system for too often snubbing telly stars.
Sally’s character has been written into some meaty storylines over the years – just one of these was the infamous mini-bus crash of 2015, which saw driver Steve McDonald and his passengers run off the road by a gang of boy racers.
Sally survived the crash and has continued to grace the cobbles with her presence ever since.
