David Ginola says he's huge Ant and Dec fan and wants to impress them on I'm A Celeb

I’m A Celebrity football legend David Ginola is a huge fan of Ant and Dec and wants to impress them most of all on the show.

The former Newcastle United star knows the Geordie hosts are supporting him as they are lifelong Magpies followers.

However he admits he loves them too and it was one of the reasons he signed for the programme.

Now he wants to “surprise” the TV duo with his survival and stamina skills in Bushtucker Trials – just like he did with his footballing talents.

The Frenchman said: “I am a fan of Ant and Dec first of all. Not just because they are Newcastle fans but also I am a fan of the show because it is a show that has been on TV for a long time. It is something that is reliable.”

Asked who will be the most excited when they meet one another, he added: “I think the excitement is both ways.

“And I will make sure to surprise them in different ways. I surprised them when I was on the football pitch and I will try to do the same in the castle.”

Ginola, 54, admits his heart attack scare which he suffered in 2016 has given him a new mind set.

And he now wants to try different things like I’m A Celebrity that take him out of his comfort zone.

He explained: “Obviously when you have got a second chance in life you want to experiment with different things, discover new challenges.

“I am always talking about getting out of your comfort zone and this is what it is going to be. I am going to wear the same clothes.

We are sharing the same shower. Having very little food. We are gonna try to win trials to get more food. It is an experience.”

The former model and actor – whose supporters include his partner Maëva Denat and their three year old daughter – is confident nothing in the castle will scare him or make him quit.

He roared: “I’m a man! I want to see if the man I am right now is capable of facing those situations.”

And apart from missing his family, he will miss the football and joked he might try to bribe Ant and Dec for the latest scores as he thinks “little things” can help raise team morale – just like in soccer.

He said: “It is going to be very important to concentrate on the spirit in the camp.

“It is like having a good spirit in the dressing room and the key of the success is – are we gonna cope with each other and working one for the other?”

To make sure he has one home comfort in the Welsh castle he is taking a pair of slippers in as his luxury item.

Ginola is along the ten stars taking part in the new series and he will feature alongside the likes of TV presenter Richard Madeley, The Saturdays’ Frankie Bridge and Emmerdale’s Danny Miller.
