EastEnders star Lacey Turner has made a tough choice to not breastfeed her newborn son Trilby.
The 32-year-old, who had struggled to breastfeed her first child Dusty, came to the conclusion that it was more important to keep her baby fed and well after he was born prematurely.
Trilby arrived two weeks ahead of his due date and was later rushed to a special care unit, following the complex birth.
Give the situation and the problems the soap star had suffered in the past, she decided it was the easier option to opt for formula bottle feeding, rather than getting worked up about producing enough milk for her poorly tot.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror’s Notebook, she said: “I was 50/50 about doing it.
“I found it really difficult last time and Dusty found it stressful but I kept an open mind.
“But then when he had to be in special care, I thought, ‘Instead of trying my hardest to pump and get everything going, let’s just keep it as easy as possible for everybody and keep him fed.’
“He has his last feed at 11pm and then he wakes up around 3am, and then he’s not up again until 7am!”
Lacey was unable to see her newborn for nearly an entire day after he was admitted into the special care unit at Watford General Hospital.
It wasn’t just Lacey who was unable to see him, husband Matt also wasn’t allowed to be present due to Covid-19 restrictions at the hospital.
The TV actress, who is better known for her role as the troublesome Stacey Slater on the BBC soap, admitted to the ITV Loose Women panel that his arrival had taken her by complete surprise.
Unprepared for his birth, she explained that her hospital bag essentials consisted of some mini eggs and a night dress as she wasn’t expecting to give birth when she did.
Trilby spent two days in the special care unit at Watford General Hospital, which meant Lacey didn’t seem him for nearly a whole day while he received treatment.
When discussing Dusty, Trilby’s already dotting big sister, Lacey gushed: “She’s so amazing, incredibly bossy.
“She is the best babysitter I’ve ever had.
“I’ve got her a pram that is her height, so she pushes him around the kitchen.”
