Emmerdale is not the first show that springs to mind when you think of high fashion – but that hasn’t stopped the cast from falling foul of a series of wardrobe malfunctions.
The Dales has played host to some hilarious moments involving fashion blunders from the cast and crew from fake baby bumps to exposed underwear.
Fans will remember Marlon Dingle showing off more than he bargained for when he tried to help out with the Nativity fundraiser.
There is also the time when Pierce Harris was spotted wearing Robert Sugden’s clothes.
Daily Star has taken a look at some of the most standout fashion blunders from the popular soap to hit our screens in recent years.
Bear Wolf’s wig
Back in February 2019, things got a little hairy when Paddy Kirk tried to get to the bottom of the truth about his dad.
Convinced that amateur wrestler Bear Wolf may be his real father Chas Dingle booked the fighter for a meet and greet at the Woolpack.
Chaos unfolded when Marlon Dingle tried to grab some of his hair so they could get a DNA test.
However, when he eventually used one of his wrestling moves to leave Paddy unconscious on the floor, Marlon made a second grab for his hair and was stunned when it turned out to be a wig that came away in his hands.
Bear then stormed out leaving the Woolpack customers stunned at what had happened.
Pierce Harris wearing Robert Sugden’s clothes
When Robert Sugden cheated on Aaron Dingle his character took a backseat in the Yorkshire based soap.
However eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot that while Robert was on the backburner, his wardrobe was very much alive and well in the show.
The actor’s clothes were being worn by Pierce Harris and viewers couldn’t believe their eyes when his shirt popped up in one episode, and his joggers in another.
Pointing out the blunders on Twitter one fan wrote: “Is Pierce trying to take fashion tips from Robert Sugden? First, his shirt and now is jogging pants????”
Another posted: “First Pierce had Robert’s shirt on yesterday and his track grey joggers today.”
A third added: “Why is Pierce wearing Robert’s shirt??”
Marlon Dingle exposed on stage
Marlon found himself showing off more than he bargained for in December 2017 when he tried to help out with the Nativity fundraiser.
When the kids were reluctant to take part, Marlon took on the role of the donkey in the play.
He squeezed himself into both the front and back end of the costume – which was obviously meant for much smaller inhabitants.
He very quickly learnt the error of his ways when he turned around and bent over, splitting the costume wide open and exposing his underwear to everyone.
Headmistress Jessie Grant quickly found him a replacement for his ruined lower half – a skirt.
Marlon tried to fight back but she told him: “Come on, a man in a skirt. It’s a good message for the kids.”
Andrea Tate’s pyjama backlash
In March 2020 Emmerdale viewers were left baffled when Andrea Tate suffer a huge wardrobe malfunction.
At the time she was attempting to trap Kim and get her to confess to her involvement in Graham Foster’s murder.
But her attire – seemingly pyjamas – was what really had fans of the soap gripped as they watched the unfolding scenes.
Taking to Twitter viewers went into overdrive as they discussed the whacky outfit choice.
One said: “Whys Andrea in her PJs?”
While another wrote: “Andrea couldn’t act to save her Pyjamas.”

“Ffs who goes to work in their pyjamas?” added a fourth confused fan.
Despite all the dramatic events of the episode, viewers were still focused on Andrea wearing her PJs to the office.
Another typed: “Me: I don’t trust this fella at all. Mum: Why is Andrea wearing pyjamas?”
One added: “Ugh those blouses that make it look like you wore pyjamas to work.”
More Twitter users wrote: “I don’t trust Andrea’s client and Andrea looks like she’s in her pyjamas?”
And: “Why does Andrea look like she’s wearing pyjamas?”
Rebecca White’s baby bump blunder
In November 2017 Emmerdale viewers were left in hysterics when a wardrobe malfunction left Rebecca White’s fake baby bump exposed.
The gaffe happened as Rebecca was having a heart to heart with her sister Chrissie about the impending arrival of her baby with Robert Sugden.
The concerned mum to be expressed her fears to her sister as she asked her to be her birthing partner.
She said: “Robert was going to be my birthing partner but I’m worried he’s not going to be that reliable, and I reckon I can count on you much more if you’d be willing to do it?”
Chrissie then said she would love to and the pair stood up to hug, however as they did Rebecca’s blouse moved, revealing the padding used to create her baby bump.
Fans then took to Twitter to discuss the blunder.
One posted: “Did anyone see a false baby bump on Emmerdale??”
