Piers Morgan was once again backed into a corner by Good Morning Britain fans who begged him to “stop sulking” so that he could return to his former job.
The 56-year-old TV star was also told on Twitter to swallow his pride and just “say sorry” to Meghan Markle so that he could forward.
However, defiant Piers held his position that he would never apologise to Prince Harry’s wife and branded her as “Princess Pinocchio” once again.
The conversation was sparked on social media after Piers had been heartened by admirers who were calling for him to return to the ITV breakfast show.
Piers tweeted to let viewers know he missed them too and was greeted with one reply that he wasn’t expecting.
The response read: “Yes Piers stop sulking, say you’re sorry and come back and make GMB great again.”
Outspoken Piers replied: “I’d rather eat vegan sausage rolls for the rest of my life than apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio.”
The newsreader quit his job at GMB back in March after he’d came to blows with weatherman Alex Beresford.
Their heated exchange over Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey came to an abrupt end after Piers dramatically stormed off set – leaving Alex on-screen and fuming.
Both the Life Stories star and the meteorologist shared opposing views when it came to Meghan Markle’s serious claims – which included mental health struggles with no help and an accusation that a member of the Royal Family had questioned her son Archie’s skin colour before he had been born.
Furious Piers did not withhold his views as he took centre stage on the programme the next day.
He said: “I’m angry to the point of bawling over today. I’m sickened by what I just had to watch.
“This is a two-hour trashathon of our royal family, of the monarchy and everything our queen has worked so hard for and it’s all been done while Prince Philip lies in hospital.
“They trash everybody. They basically make out our Royal family are a bunch of white supremacists by this race bombshell. They didn’t name any which one it was, they just throw it out there so it could be anybody. Well, you better say it fast.”
Addressing Meghan’s mental health claims, he added: “Who did you go to? What did they say to you? I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle.
“I wouldn’t believe it if she read me weather report. The fact that she’s fired up this onslaught against our Royal family I think is contemptible.”
Piers was later instructed by ITV chiefs to apologise but point blank refused and instead handed the broadcasting giant his letter of resignation.
