Meghan Markle said she 'wanted to meet someone' when she first moved to London

TV and radio presenter Lizzie Cundy has revealed that it was no accident that her former friend Meghan Markle married Prince Harry.

Lizzie, 53, was among those befriended by the now-Duchess of Sussex before she met Prince Harry.

She told the Daily Mail: “I was asked to look after Meghan when she came over here. She wanted to meet someone.

“We have a clip of her saying: ‘I want to be a London girl, I love London men and I love everything to do with London.’

Lizzie, whose Amazon Prime show is called Red Carpet Uncut, will air the footage in her show.

The former WAG took Meghan, 39, who was then best known for her role in US legal drama Suits, under her wing.

Meghan ‘always wanted to meet someone in London’, Lizzie has claimed

But once she met Prince Harry, 36, Meghan no longer returned Lizzie’s calls.

“She ghosted me once the engagement hit,” says Lizzie. “She’s ghosted quite a lot of people, obviously, including her family, so I’m not the worst person she’s ghosted.”

Lizzie said that Meghan always nwanted to be a London girl

Lizzie doesn’t seem to have any hard feelings towards her globally famous former pal. She even recently joked that the royal couple called their baby daughter after her.

Meghan and Harry welcomed their second child – baby Lilibet Diana – on June 4th. Lizzie claimed that the Duchess Of Sussex was inspired by her when it came to naming the child.

Lizzie claimed Meghan ghosted her as soon as she met Harry

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Lizzie said: “I was called Lilibet. It’s short for Elizabeth. It was my nickname at school!

“Thank you Meghan. You ghosted me – and now you’re calling your child after me.

“I was quite shocked by it because it’s an unusual name. Maybe that’s her way of reaching out. But I wish them well and I think it’s wonderful.”

We’re pretty sure that Lizzie wasn’t actually being serious, but maybe Meghan did want to repay her for looking after her.

The official reason given for the naming was that Lillibet is the Windsor family’s nickname for the Queen, while Diana is a tribute to Harry’s late mother.
