Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left angry that Tilly Ramsay has been eliminated from the BBC show, with many saying Dan Walker should be out instead.
Gordon Ramsay’s daughter was at the bottom of the leaderboard with 30 points for her Samba to Dua Lipa song Levitating – but fans were still hoping BBC Breakfast’s Dan, who scored 31, would be eliminated.
Tilly, 20, found herself in the dance off against Rhys Stephenson, who had scored 35 for his Waltz to Whitney Houston’s You Light Up My Life.
After both stars performed their Saturday night routines again, the judges delivered their verdicts.
Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Rhys, though admitted that both couples were “equal”.
But after Tilly’s partner Nikita Kuzmin’s shirt came off during the performance, Craig said: “The dance off proved that they both improved enormously, although one was quite flashy and semi naked. But I’d like to save Rhys and Nancy [Xu].”
Guest judge Cynthia Erivo also saved Rhys and Nancy, saying: “It just came down to the tiny details like the finish of the foot work.”
Anton Du Beke saved Rhys and Nancy too, but he described Tilly as “an absolute fighter”.
And although the majority vote won, head judge Shirley Ballas agreed, saying she would’ve saved Rhys and Nancy.
After she was eliminated, Tilly said: “I’d just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has made this an amazing, positive journey for me. From everyone here to backstage, wardrobe, make up and camera crew. It’s just been the most extraordinary time.
“I found out something about myself that I didn’t know I could do, I didn’t know I could dance and have fun like this.
“So a massive thank you and, obviously, a huge thank you to Nikita who has guided me out of my shell and has just made this the most amazing experience.”
Tilly said she’s made a “best friend for life” in Nikita, who admitted he was hoping he wouldn’t cry as he’s the “most emotional person”.
He said: “I’m just grateful for everything, for the whole Strictly team, for the production team, for the costume, for the make-up, for everything. Thank you guys, thank you to the professionals and cast, and a huge, huge thank you to Tilly.”
Fans were not happy though, with many saying Dan should’ve been eliminated instead.
“If Dan doesn’t go out this week what is going on?” one tweeted.
Another said: “If Dan doesn’t go this week it is a BBC fix.”
A third wrote: “I truly do love him but Dan has to go tonight, I know he’s a lovely man and to get to this point he has done amazing be he has to go.”
And a fourth said: “I better not see Dan go through again this week.”
Dan and Rhys will join AJ Odudu, John Whaite and Rose Ayling-Ellis in next week’s quarter finals.
The quarter final will air Saturday, December 4 at 6.40pm on BBC One and iPlayer, with the results on Sunday, December 5 at 7.20pm.
