Carol Kirkwood shut down her co-star Naga Munchetty, telling her “you’re awful” after the host landed a savage swipe on Thursday’s BBC Breakfast.
The 46-year-old TV star wanted to know if the weather expert was willing to think about changing her foggy background as Carol appeared on the screen to discuss the day’s weather forecast.
Naga said to the meteorologist: “No Carol, it’s getting more and more foggy the more we speak to you.
“I do think though, you should think about the special effects and think about knocking them forward a bit that might make it look even better.”
Laughing Carol replied: “Do you think so Naga?”
“Yeah,” remarked the host.
“Well I think it’s lovely as it is,” chirped back the weather reporter.
“I was talking about brining it in front of you and the camera,” quipped Naga.
Carol hit back: “Oh you are awful but I like you.”
Meanwhile earlier on in the programme, conversation turned emotional as Naga and co-star Charlie Stayt were joined by bereaved daughter Hannah Brady.
Hannah’s father Shaun Brady, 55, had died just four days before the “bring your own booze” party at Downing Street on 20 May 2020.
Remembering her own whereabouts on the day of the gathering, Hannah said she’s been getting her dad’s death certificate signed and was out buying PPE for ICU nurses while MPs had a jolly-up.
The bereaved daughter added: “Those funerals that weren’t even funerals.
“At my dad’s funeral, the vicar told us ‘I’m really sorry but it’s 20 minutes tops, it’s outside, theres of ten you, it has to be socially distanced and you can’t touch your dad’s coffin’.
“You had to watch him being lowered into the ground in the rain.”
She continued: “Boris Johnson said he spent 25 minutes at that party, he got five minutes more to socialise and bring his own booze than I did at my dad’s funeral.”
On Thursday Boris offered “heartfelt apologies” for attending the gathering at Downing Street while the rest of the UK were faced the first Covid-19 lockdown.
