Now, the award-winning actress has revealed quite how anxious she was for her other half as he danced his heart out with his professional partner Karen Hauer.

She confessed: “No it took years off my life, years off my life from sheer terror. He worked so hard and he has no weight to lose and he lost weight.

“Every time I was there chewing the furniture when I wasn’t on camera so it was quite a thing. It was a big old thing, it was quite extraordinary.”

It comes after Greg confessed that Strictly was “not really about dancing” but more about “being alive” in an interview with the Big Issue.

He said: “Strictly is about being a human being. It’s about overcoming whatever obstacles you have to set up yourself or have been set up for you and going, ‘I’m going to give it a go’.

“And it’s fantastically exposing, because it’s live. That’s what makes it so extraordinary. You’ve got real jeopardy.

“So it is a remarkable show. Because it is not really about dancing, It’s about being alive.”
