Gordon Ramsay says cooking for Vladimir Putin turned him into a quivering wreck

Vladimir Putin is the most intimidating person Gordon Ramsay has ever cooked for.

The celebrity chef said he was terrified he might give the Russian president food poisoning when asked to prepare a meal for him.

Ramsay, 55, famed for his tough demeanour, said the experience in 2000 reduced him to a quivering wreck.

Speaking on the Kelly Clarkson show in the US, he said: “I remember being invited to Downing Street to cook for Tony Blair and President Putin.

“I genuinely did s**t myself. I was thinking ‘Could you imagine if you food poisoned these two? Could you imagine the kind of s**t I would get if I took these two down?’

“It was quite an extraordinary experience. I was standing in between them to say hello and they were asking me about the English asparagus and I’m thinking ‘Get me the f**k out of here, I’m done.’”

The Russian leader was served a menu that included tomato consomme with golden caviare from albino sturgeon, mosaic of chicken and ham knuckle, roasted slice of sea bass on crushed new potatoes with white asparagus in a red wine sauce, and treacle tart.

Gordon also branded his daughter Megan’s boyfriend “pathetic” while chatting to Kelly.

When asked about how he deals with his daughter’s love lives as their protective father, he opened up about eldest’s dating choices.

He touched upon how she recently got back with her ex-boyfriend Byron.

Speaking about his daughter rekindling her romance, Gordon said: “He was OK to begin with.

“[He’s] a bit wet. A little bit sort of … you want a man to date your daughter and he was just … a little bit pathetic.”

Kelly began to laugh hysterically, while Gordon went in even harder on the poor lad, saying: “I want to kill the little f***er, I kid you not.”

Not only does Gordon enjoy slating his daughter’s boyfriend on television, but he also likes to weigh in on their relationship too.

He got Byron’s phone number from his other daughter Tilly, explaining: “She [Tilly] gave me it and said, ‘Dad don’t do anything,’ and I said, ‘No, just give me, if anything’s wrong I need his number on my phone.”
