The Chase fans distracted by contestant's unusual name as they slap him with 'red card'

The Chase fans were distracted during Tuesday’s episode (November 16) after learning a contestant’s unusual name.

Presenter Bradley Walsh welcomed Chris, Chloe, Ekow and Jo into the ITV studio to take on today’s chaser, Shaun Wallace in the hopes to win some cash.

Within minutes of seeing Ekow’s name on the panel, viewers took to social media and started making jokes about its resemblance to the word echo.

One user joked: “Ekow, Ekow, Ekow, Ekow, Ekow, Ekow, Ekow, Ekow, #TheChase.”

“Ekow…I’ve heard that name before #TheChase,” added a second as another penned: “#TheChase I keep hearing Ekow’s name.”

“Ekow just made an Echo joke, gloves are off off off off off off #TheChase,” wrote a fourth.

While a fifth joked: “If Ekow gets through , he’ll be bouncing off the walls #TheChase.”

The 28-year-old had big shoes to fill after following Chloe who brought back a whopping £25,000 to the team after taking a risk and choosing the high offer.

The football coach admitted he wanted to score a minimum of £3,000 in the cash builder but was left deflated when he only managed to answer two questions correctly.

Ekow was hit with a red card from fans after taking the minus offer

Following some advice from his teammates, Ekow explained he wanted to be in the final chase and made the decision to take the minus offer of -£2,000, leaving the group’s total now at £23,000.

Contestant’s choosing the lower offer normally sparks outrage amongst fans and today was no different, with one even slapping him with a “red card” for the move.

“Ekow gets the red card………,” exclaimed one user.

Also fuming at the decision, another penned: “Going low is bad enough but a MINUS low? Nah.”

While a third raged: “How has he got on here with no knowledge whatsoever and taking a low offer.”

Ekow made it to the final chase alongside Chloe and Jo, who won an extra £2,000 for the team, taking the final total to £25,000.

Despite their best efforts, The Dark Destroyer caught them with 14 seconds spare.
