But his comments have caused a ripple of uproar amongst Royal circles as revealled by experts who spoke exclusively to The Daily Star.

Commentator Richard Fitzwilliams explained: “Mike Tindall is an exceptional Royal and he was not like any other member of the Royal Family,

“That’s the sort of comment that might, with advantage, have been left out. The problem with being laddish that you could be too laddish which he obviously has been.”

He added: “When you’re in the jungle, of course you can relax with the other contestants and that’s precisely what he did, too far”

Whilst Royal writer and commentator Ingrid Seward added: “When I heard he was first going to the jungle, I thought why would he do something like that? Why would he need to?”

Richard also told The Star that those comments were so effective in their reach, they will forever live with Mike Tindall for years to come.

The expert commented: “But it’s perfectly obvious that if you make those sorts of comments, they will stay with you and they will be quoted from time to time and it will be embarrassing because it was embarrassing.”

He continued: “It’s the sort of thing that, even in the jungle, you should refrain from saying.”

Richard added: “He has the sort of persona that has, I think, pretty broad appeal. But that’s not the sort of comment he should be making. It’s silly.

But despite the humour of the situation, Richard Fitzwilliams still thought the comments will forever be associated with the royal family thanks to the popularity of the long-running ITV programme.

He explained: “The reason he shouldn’t say the sort of thing is that it is embarrassing,”

The commentator added: “I mean, there’s no precedent for that sort of comment, so having made it, what’s particularly embarrassing is that it won’t go away.”

Meanwhile Ingrid, who is the editor of Majesty Magazine, explained: “I mean, he’s very laddish and one of the boys, and he voices his opinion, and I suppose actually, probably, I’m a celebrity would kind of work for him. That’s well, [but] I thought, Well, maybe he shouldn’t do it.”

She added: “I think that probably, there was a little bit of trepidation about it”

However Ingrid Seward exclusively told The Daily Star that despite the supposed embarrassment, the incident revelation actually reflects well on the Princess Royal.

She explained: “I think if he’d just been Zara’s husband, well, no, that would have been awful. But he’s a world class sportsman in his own right.”

Ingrid continued: “Good for Princess Anne. I thought she doesn’t miss a trick. Nothing fazes her. If she’d sort of been sniffy and shocked, it would have been hopeless, but she just sort of she does it again. But she’s just like her dad, just totally off the cuff.”

I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! continues every night on ITV1 at 9pm.
