BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood red-faced as she’s dragged off camera by dog at Wimbledon

BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood was caught in a major blunder as she presented live from Wimbledon on Tuesday (July 4).

The meteorologist, 61, swapped the studio for Southwest London once again as the highly anticipated tennis tournament continues.

As presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay crossed over to Carol, she was joined by a search dog called Ray who was sat calmly by her side with a tennis ball in his mouth.

Clearly preoccupied by the pooch, Carol told viewers and her co-stars: “I don’t even know what the weather is today I am so distracted!”

The Scottish star powered through and updated fans with the latest weather forecasts across the country as she stroked Ray who laid comfortably on his back.

After, Carol told Sally and Jon: “I must say, I am just going to stay here for a while with Ray. How well-behaved is he? He has hardly moved apart from to have his tummy rubbed.”

Sally, 51, responded: “I was just saying, Ray reacting the way most people react when they meet Carol Kirkwood,” as Carol giggled, adding: “Bless you Sal!”

But as Carol continued singing Ray’s praises, the search dog decided it was time to head off and took the weather presenter with him.

As Carol gripped onto Ray’s lead, she was dragged on all fours before moving out of the camera shot completely.

“Oh no!” exclaimed Jon from the studio as Sally cried: “Oh Carol!”

“It’s happened again. Is she ok? Are you ok? Are you alright?” Sally repeatedly asked.

Unable to speak as she was consumed by laughter, Carol finally squealed: “Yes!”

Hiding her face with her hand, Carol giggled: “I can’t believe it’s happened again! It’s the Chelsea Flower Show all over again!”

Carol was referencing a very similar situation which occurred while she was presenting the weather from the Chelsea Flower Show in 2021.

She had just finished sharing the forecast updates when the golden Labrador tugged at the lead she was holding and pulled her over.

And just moments earlier, Carol was discussing how “very well behaved” the guide dog had been.
