EastEnders’ Howie star appeared in huge Hollywood movie alongside Johnny Depp

EastEnders star Delroy Atkinson is famed for playing Howie Danes on the BBC soap, but you might not know that he starred in a huge Hollywood film.

Howie arrived on Albert Square back in 2021, and he’s recently been left fearing that his partner Kim Fox (Tameska Empson) will receive abuse online for opening up about her mental health struggled.

But fans might not realise that he’s set foot in the world of Hollywood as he starred in a Pirates Of The Caribbean film alongside A-lister Johnny Depp.

In 2017, Delroy appeared in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, where he played Pike, a pirate who was one of the crew members on board the Dying Gull ship.

The blockbuster flick was the fifth installment in the beloved franchise about the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow.

The soap star looked unrecognisable carrying a cutlass and a flintlock and certainly wasn’t afraid of getting stuck in on deck.

It’s not the only time he’s taken to the silver screen, because his breakout role came all the way back in 1998’s Still Crazy alongside Bill Nye and Bill Bailey.

And back in 2021, he starred in Enola Holmes alongside Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby-Brown, Helena Bonham Carter and Henry Caville.

And if that wasn’t impressive enough already, he’s joined Idris Elba on BBC’s crime drama Luther back in 2019.

He was in two episodes of the fifth series of the show, playing a character named Derek Hayes.

In 2021, the actor also appeared in medical drama Holby City in the role of Delroy Jones.

Earlier this year, Delroy spoke about his character’s strained relationship with son Denzel (Jadan Ladega).

He told Metro: “Howie gets things wrong, and Denzel’s a regular teenager and there’s just been a shift where it feels like problem after problem.

“So that’s again why Howie was so excited about this as is the first time he’s seen something positive happen for Denzel and between them both, so he really wants to put in the effort to try and bond with son.”
