BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt was missing from Thursday’s show.
The presenter could not be seen on the red sofa next to his co-star Naga Munchetty. Fans had gotten used to seeing the pair deliver the news together from Thursday to Saturday.
Viewers usually love to see the duo banter on-screen back and forth, but instead, he was not in the studio on Thursday (March 28). BBC presenter Ben Thompson was in his spot to stand in as a replacement.

It was not revealed why Charlie wasn’t there or mentioned whether he would return tomorrow. So fans will have to tune in to find out.
However, this isn’t the first time Ben has stepped in to help this week. On Monday, viewers expected to see Sally Nugent and Jon Kay, but were mistaken…
Instead Jon was not in his usual presenting spot and saw another shakeup come to the BBC lineup. Ben stepped in to host the show alongside Sally, saving the say once more.
Jon usually front the show with Sally from Monday to Wednesday – hence why fans noticed he was absent. His leave was also left unexplained by the programme.
Some fans picked up on his departure as it wasn’t the first time he hadn’t turned up for his usual shift. One viewer took to X to comment and said: “Has Beardy Jon phoned on sick again?”
Over the past few weeks, viewers had noticed he had been missing a handful of times. Just last week, he missed both Monday and Tuesday’s episodes. Ben was the replacement for him for both days, after being no stranger to hosting the show in recent months.
