BBC EastEnders shared some upsetting news about Ben Mitchell tonight, following Max Bowden’s unexpected departure from the show.
Max left the BBC soap in scenes that aired last Thursday when Ben was arrested in shocking scenes as he faced fraud charges in America. Ben was terrified after being arrested in front of his daughter Lexi, and in sad scenes, she told him she was disappointed with everything happening with him.
In emotional scenes, Callum visited Ben – after initially refusing to do so – and they had a deep conversation. Callum told Ben he wasn’t leaving him, and that he would support him but pleaded with him to plead not guilty to everything.

However, tonight, Callum was heartbroken when he discovered that Ben had chosen to plead guilty and was being sent to America on Tuesday, leaving both him and Kathy Beale devastated as they shared a hug in the pub.
Max Bowden confirmed last week that he was leaving the BBC soap, saying he will “forever be grateful” for his time on the show, reports the Mirror.
Talking about his exit from the show, he thanked the fans as he shared: “Well guys It’s that time! It’s been one hell of a ride! Thanks for taking Ben to your hearts and allowing my version into your lives.”
“I had an amazing five years at @bbceastenders and learnt a hell of a lot about myself and the craft I love so dearly; it got me through some very hard personal times and I will be forever grateful!
He went on to add: “I really will never be able to thank everybody for the support enough, because the fans of the show are so passionate, caring, and invested and it enables us as actors to want to keep going and always be better.”
Matt signed off with: “So I really do from the bottom of my heart appreciate every single person who has sent any sort of positivity my way over the last five years – I love you all. Ben Mitchell 6.0, over and out. Goodbye EE! I’ll miss you all.”
Viewers think that Ben might come back to the BBC soap one day, but guess another actor will take on his role. Several actors have portrayed Ben in the past, so there was no chance they would kill off his character.
