Longstanding Coronation Street legend ‘quits’ role and plots to leave for Spain

Coronation Street’s Tracy Barlow is quitting the cobbles.

Actress, Kate Ford, who is best known for her role as the killer florist on the ITV fan favourite is walking away from her alter-ego, after 47-years with the programme. The news comes after she’d discovered a letter from her lover Tommy Orpington had been burned.

Tommy had expressed in his writing that he’d wanted to start a life with her in Spain but her estranged husband Steve McDonald had other plans. He found the letter and burned it.

There had been some confusion over what had happened to the letter to begin with and Tracy’s daughter Amy was accused of meddling. This to try and get her mum back together with Steve.

However, the penny finally dropped when realised Steve could have been the only interceptor as he’d locked up. Naturally, she confronted him over it and dumped him once and for all.

Wanting answers, she asked: “Where is it Steve?” He tried to lie his way out of it but Tracy became more annoyed, she then demanded: “The letter Tommy sent me.”

“The note that Tommy sent me, I know that you saw it so where is it Steve and what did it say? Where is it?” barked Tracy.

He replied: “I burned the letter that Tommy sent you. I’m sorry.”

Steve tried to calm the situation down, telling Tracy her romance with Tommy was finished but she hit back with: “It’s not over between me and Tommy though, is it?

“The letter said as much and that’s why you burned it. Shame on you.”

As she was leaving, she told Steve: “I don’t care what you have to say, because I’m leaving tomorrow with Tommy for Spain.”

Staying true to her word, Tracy continued to load up her bags into a taxi, telling Carla and Tim she was done with Steve. In the Taxi with her things, she told Steve finally: “Can you tell Amy I’ll see her tomorrow before I go…”

Corrie fans will remember Tracy being born on-screen on 24 January 1977. She was played by Christabel Finch until 21 November 1983.
