Phillip Schofield’s close friend Lorraine Kelly has shared an update on his life after he left ITV.
Schofield had a tough time after confessing to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger colleague, which led him to leave ITV, after already quitting This Morning over other drama surrounding him. Schofe, who co-hosted This Morning with Holly Willoughby for 20 years, confessed that he lied about the relationship to his bosses and family.
This caused a scandal and hurt his career. After the news broke, the married dad-of-two stepped back from the public eye, saying he felt “broken and ashamed”.

Lorraine told The Sunday Times Magazine: “I was heartbroken when all that happened. It’s just a shame for the amazing career that he’s had, for it to end like that.”
She described Schofield as “generous” and said that “everybody lost their minds a wee bit” during the scandal. Since then, Schofield has kept a low profile, only being seen in public a few times, such as having dinner with friend Venessa Feltz.
The TV star had previously told The Sun that the fallout from his admission had a “catastrophic effect” on his mental health, and he was scared to leave his house. He also shared with the BBC that his daughters were worried about his safety and “wouldn’t let him out of their sight”.
Despite the recent drama, Phil was spotted in high spirits during a family outing at London’s Southbank on Sunday. He was seen enjoying a stroll with his wife and daughters, Molly, 30, and Ruby, 27, all smiles as they chatted.
After catching a showing of Chicken Run at the BFI (British Film Institute) and grabbing a bite at The Green Room restaurant, the family said their goodbyes. This comes after Phil confirmed that he and Steph have no plans to split up.
Lorraine chimed in: “He’s doing all right and he will be all right, but it’s hard.” She voiced her upset over “cancel culture”, noting that some in the entertainment industry seem “gleeful at seeing somebody’s downfall”.
