Police Academy actress Marion Ramsey has died at the age of 73.
The star died today in her Los Angeles home, her rep confirmed
Her cause of death has not been determined but it is believed she died after a short illness.
She was best known for playing Officer Laverne Hooks in all five of the Police Academy films.
Marion, who was born in Philadelphia, was originally a stage actor and starred in the original Broadway and Hello, Dolly!.
Another one of Marion’s memorable roles was in the hit 1978 Broadway show Eubie!.

Marion starred along iconic actress Bette Davis in the musical Miss Moffat – before landing her first TV appearance one US sitcom The Jeffersons.
She later was a regular on Bill Cosby’s sketch show Cos.
Marion landed her most iconic role in the first Police Academy film in 1984 – and was renowned for her high-pitched voice in the role.
In 1993 Marion reprised her role in the video John Virgo: Playing for Laughs and in a 2006 episode of Robot Chicken.

Marion also starred in Modern Family, Beverly Hills, 90210 and MacGyver.
As a result of her unique voice the actress landed many voice-over roles including in 1992’s The Addams Family and 2006 film Robot Chicken.
It is thought her last appearances were TV movies Lavalantula and its sequel 2 Lava 2 Lantula!
She was reunited with her Police Academy co-star Steve Guttenberg for the roles.
Ramsey performed in Sheryl Lee Ralph’s Divas Simply Singing, an annual fundraising event in Los Angeles.
She also starred in Beverly Hills, 90210 and MacGyver.
Ramsey, who was a AIDS/HIV awareness campaigner, is survived by three brothers.
Marion’s death was announced by her management team at Roger Paul Inc.
