Kate Garraway gives emotional update on children after Finding Derek documentary

Kate Garraway has given a short update on how she is getting on with her two children a couple of weeks after her heartbreaking ITV documentary Finding Derek left the nation in tears.

The brave Good Morning Britain host told Tuesday’s guest Bear Grylls that “all is as good as can be” during a short chat with the hard-man.

Speaking via video link from South West London, Bear teased his new survival show Running Wild With Bear Grylls.

When asked by Kate how he found lockdown, Bear explained that he has found a new found respect for her after watching her documentary.

Bear said: “I think lockdown has been very hard for so many people.

“I look at this year and if have learn anything it is that storms come and go.

“When you’re in them they can seem intense but they don’t last forever and it will past.”

Referring to Kate’s heartbreaking situation with her husband Derek Draper, Bear added: “We are all cheering for you.

“How are your children?”

Thanking the star, Kate replied: “I don’t think we have enough time to go into that but all is as good as it can be thank you.”

Earlier this month Kate took to Instagram to share an upbeat outlook on the world amid the ongoing lockdowns.

Kate posted a snap of her neighbour delivering her an Easter cake alongside the caption: “Everyone – so hard that it’s the second we’ve lived through in Lockdown/restrictions and of course our second without Derek home with us.

“But he is still here so we have so much to give thanks for and there’s lots to hope for isn’t there .

“Our day started with sun shining and our wonderful neighbour who we call ‘Cakesuzy’ bringing round the most amazing #easter cake ever she had made herself.”

Kate’s husband Derek was hospitalised with Covid in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic.

Concerned doctors then put him into a medically induced coma to give him the best chance of fighting the virus.

While he is now Covid free, the virus has wrecked havoc on his body and caused a number of his organs to fail.

As well as suffering kidney failure, Derek is understood to have holes in his heart.

Medics recently admitted he may need to stay in hospital for around the clock treatment until December 2021.
