Love Island is set to return to our screens tonight after a hiatus inflicted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Irish television presenter Laura Whitmore is set to host the show this summer, following the death of former host Caroline Flack in February 2020.
But who is the new presenterLaura Whitmore?
Laura Whitmore is a 36-year-old Irish TV presenter, model and actress, known for presenting I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Now! and more recently hosting Love Island.
Growing up in Bray, County Wicklow, the star has two half brothers and has now found love of her own.
Born in Ireland to parents Carmel Whitmore and Sean McIvor, she has two half-brothers and attended Loreto Secondary School, before going on to study journalism at Dublin City University.
Laura dated model David Gandy in 2010, before calling it quits and coupling up with the lead singer, Danny O’Reilly, of the band The Coronas.
It’s reported that a number of songs on The Corona’s 2014 album were about the blonde-bombshell.
On the breakdown of the relationship, Laura opened up: “That was really hard.”
“And I went through that massive break-up while I was doing live TV on the other side of the world.
“People could write about it, people could guess about it, and at the end of the day I was just a girl who was really hurt.
“My mum flew over and I wasn’t well, only because of the stress of everything that was going on. I lost a lot of weight.”
Laura found love when she met the Love Island voiceover man Iain Stirling at an ITV party in 2016.
Confirming the romance between the pair the following year, Laura reportedly said: “Yeah he’s my boyfriend. He’s lovely.
“I’ve got him as my screensaver. I’ve known him for ages.
“I had never watched Love Island before but I don’t need him to give me spoilers because everyone from I’m A Celebrity works on it anyway.”
In 2020 she married the Scottish comedian and the Love Island narrator. The pair were wedded in a private non-religious ceremony in Dublin.
In March this year, the couple welcomed their first child. Her name is presumed to be Stevie Ré as posted in an Instagram post celebrating Glastonbury.
Last week, one week before the first episode of the seventh series of Love Island was set to air, Laura took to social media posting a photo of her looking “Love Island ready”.

Wearing a cream bodycon dress, the star posed in front of the classic Love Island backdrop with her hands on her hips.
The Irish beauty captioned the photo: “I think we’re all ready for some love! Ahhhhhh! So excited to watch the new islanders. Hope you enjoy talking about them and following their journey and just a reminder to treat them with love, compassion and respect when they leave the show and go back to real life.”
She then left a sweet tribute to friend and former host, Caroline who sadly took her own life in February 2020.
“Caroline I hope we do you proud. One week to go,” she wrote.
The show, that hasn’t been on air since early 2020, is set to return with a splash tonight (June 28) when a brand-spanking-new set of contestants strut their stuff and head on into the villa.
Daily Star’s very own Page 3 model Shannon Singh will be making her way onto the island, along with Love Island’s first disabled contestant, Miss International UK, a gym bunny and a lettings agent.
Love Island burst onto our screens in 2015 with TV presenting extraordinaire Caroline Flack hosting the show and becoming the face of the entire franchise.
Love Island returns to ITV2 and ITVHub on Monday, June 28 at 9pm
