Louise Redknapp has reportedly pulled out of an Eternal reunion tour after two of her bandmates allegedly indicated they would not perform at LGBT+ events.
The 90s chart stars were set to reunite next summer, with Mighty Hoopla said to have been among the shows on the agenda. But at the weekend the Mirror reported that band members Easther and Vernie Bennett “refused to play the festivals, objecting to their allegiance with the trans community”.
A source was quoted as saying that in June the other members of the group “received an email from Easther and Vernie who refused to play any gay festivals or Pride”. The publication said Louise and fellow bandmate Kelle Bryan then pulled out of the reunion.

Louise’s publicist has now said in a statement to the Daily Mail: “A message was sent to the team putting together the Eternal reunion stating that if it was to go ahead, neither Vernie nor Easther would perform at Pride shows or LGBTQ+ festivals. This was because the duo felt that the gay community was being hijacked by the trans community and they do not support this. ”
The publicist went on: “Louise is a huge supporter and ally of the LGBTQ+ community and both herself and Kelle told the duo they would not work with anyone who held these views, and as such the reunion as a four would not be going ahead. The team behind the proposed Eternal reunion are gay including management, PR and tour promoter, and neither myself nor any of the team would work with artists who held such views about the trans community.”
After the report emerged, Louise also took to Twitter to post a picture of the Progress Pride flag. She added a heart emoji and the words “Always & forever”, which is the name of the group’s debut studio album.
Eternal formed in 1992 and found fame with hits like Stay, Just A Step From Heaven and Power Of A Woman. Louise left the group before the release of their second album and went on to have a massive solo career.
Kelle left in 1998 and is now well known for being on Loose Women. She returned for a bit when Eternal reunited a decade ago, but they went their separate ways again the following year.
Daily Star has reached out to representatives of the band members for comment.
