James Morrison’s partner ‘was house-hunting’ just 24 hours before she was found dead

James Morrison’s partner was reportedly seen to be looking for a house to rent as soon as possible just 24 hours before she was found dead.

Gill Catchpole, who was in a relationship with the You Give Me Something singer, was spotted posting Facebook posts to groups in the Whitminster area just hours before she passed away. This is the latest in a string of tragedies for the singer, who has lost a number of loved ones in recent years.

Catchpole was 45 when she died and had been the proud owner of a café and a catering business when she passed away on Friday (January 5). Sadly, she was found dead at the family home in Gloucestershire.

Morrison, 39, is said to be “devastated” by the passing of his partner. The couple’s two daughters – Elise, aged 15 and Ada Rose, five, have also been taken out of school as they grieve their mother’s sudden death.

Police in Gloucestershire have said they are not treating Gill’s death as suspicious. However, Catchpole’s sudden death comes just over a year after she underwent a life-saving kidney transplant which had destroyed her life as she knew it.

On Thursday (January 4), right before Gill passed away, she was spotted posting to a Facebook group in her local area of Whitminster. “Looking for a house to rent in Whitminster ASAP. Please contact me if anyone knows or hears of anything,” she wrote before signing off.

A close pal of Gill’s also shared the post on their own social media platforms, writing: “Gill is a very dear friend of mine. If anyone has any properties to rent preferably in the Whitminster area please let me know or message Gill directly.”

Her health had been the subject of major ups and downs, as she was rushed to hospital for the emergency surgery to give her a kidney transplant in late 2022. Once successfully given, doctors told her that her kidney was running at just 35% of its normal capacity, leaving her stunned.

Reflecting on her medical journey one year on, she posted to her café’s Facebook page in November 2023: “Well, what can I say – what a difference a year makes. This time last year I was having my kidney transplant and a year on after many ups downs and heartache I am a here owning my own business.”

She said that she had not even expected to see the year 2023 due to her ongoing kidney illness, but implored people to keep going as “I can tell you from experience it does get better”. It is yet another disaster for singer James, who has now suffered four deaths from within his family.

James removed himself from the spotlight after he suffered the loss of his father Paul, his big brother Alexis and nephew Callum. Sources close to James have said that he is bereft with grief, and his loved ones are rallying around him to support him in his hour of need.
