Piers Morgan ‘banned’ comedian from going on GMB as slot was cancelled three times

TV star Dom Joly has claimed he was stopped from going on Good Morning Britain three times.

The Trigger Happy icon believes this was due to a certain former host who held a lot of power at the show. Dom revealed he was invited down to London three times – but stopped from going on the show each time.

Dom chatted to the Daily Star to promote his new tour titled Dom Joly: The Conspiracy Tour 2024. He exclusively said: “I do think he’s a very confusing character.

“Normally, I can put people into one slot or the other. The thing I really don’t like about Piers Morgan is that when he and I had a spat online, I can’t remember what for and he blocked me. He blocked a lot of people.

“But then when he was on Good Morning Britain, I think three times I was asked to come on Good Morning Britain for something. Three times they paid me to go up to London, they’d put me up in a hotel, and three times at about 10 in the evening I’d just get a really embarrassed call from the producer saying ‘Really sorry, we’ve had to change the story. We don’t need you tomorrow, but still stay at the hotel and stuff’.

“And I think what happened was Piers Morgan would say ‘Who have we got on tomorrow?’ And they go ‘Oh, we’ve got Dom Joly’ and he’d go ‘F*** that’. So I think he’s a bit petty in that way.”

When it was suggested to him it may be because Piers feared going up against him on screen, Dom added: “I definitely wouldn’t fold under Piers. It’s interesting because I’ve just done three shows with LBC and suddenly I’m in the host position, like Piers Morgan, and you’re trying to cause a bit of controversy and stuff. And he’s very good at that. Maybe we will have a talk show-off or something.”
