CBB star caught with ‘mobile phone’ on show — but there’s a good reason they have it

Celebrity Big Brother star Nikita Kuzmin left fans confused after they spotted him with a ‘phone’ in the house.

The Strictly star is one of many famous faces who have signed up for the new series of the ITV show. Nikita has joined the likes of Colson Smith, Fern Britton and Louis Walsh to live in the most famous house in Britain.

But during Tuesday’s episode (March 12) fans were left stumped after they spotted him with what they believed was a phone – a banned item. In the scene, Nikita headed to speak to Big Brother about events in the house.

But as he walked in, he placed something on his lap that some viewers thought was a phone. Calling it out, on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “Was that a phone on Nikita’s lap in the diary room?”

Someone else added: “No one else noticed Nikita has a phone or something on his knee at the beginning of his interview with BB.” A third chimed in and quipped: “Is that a phone? Do the celebrities have phones?”

However, other viewers were quick to clarify the situation and explain the reason. On X, they noted how the device is not a phone but a reader for his blood sugar monitor which helps control his type 1 diabetes.

“Nikita is diabetic he’s checking blood sugar it’s not a phone!!” said one fan. Another added: “I feel like CBB has done Nikita dirty because maybe if he got more screen time, people would know he is diabetic and would get rid of the “HE HAS A PHONE” tweets.”

Nikita lives with Type 1 diabetes which is a chronic disease that needs to be monitored every day. The dancer has a white patch that sits on the back of his arm called a Libre sensor which monitors his blood sugar levels.

Speaking on Morning Live previously, the Ukrainian dancer reflected on the moment he was first diagnosed with diabetes as a teenager, and admitted he thought his dancing career “was over”.

“Nikita is someone dealing with it,” host Gethin Jones remarked. “You have Type One diabetes. There must have been times when you thought, ‘My goodness, is this really going to affect my career as a dancer?'”

“Yeah,” the 24-year-old replied. “I mean, first of all, the message I would really love to send to all the kids and general people is that this is our superpower.

“We get to learn how to be responsible from a young age. How to deal with problems with the condition. And second of all, it’s really important that we find someone with the same condition that we can look up to.”
