Loyal fans of Taylor Swift will know that often her exes usually keep quiet about their relationships when they come to an end.
The Love Story hitmaker’s former boyfriends are often the subject of her biggest hits, with fans regularly speculating which song is about which former flame. Most recently, fans have been suggesting her split from Joe Alwyn was one of the main inspirations behind her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
From Harry Styles to Matty Healey, everyone is asking exactly why her former boyfriends rarely speak out about their romances? Now, one leading lawyer has claimed the blonde bombshell, 34, could use non-disclosure agreements (NDA’s) to prevent them from speaking to the press.

Taylor previously said: “I don’t talk about my personal life in great detail. I write about it in my songs, and I feel like you can share enough about your life in your music to let people know what you’re going through.”
But with no response from Joe or Matty following her latest album release, legal expert Emma Gill is backing fans’ speculative NDA theories. The celebrity lawyer told MailOnline: “Taylor Swift has settled a number of scores in song, yet cleverly ensured her ex-lovers rarely become liabilities.
“By definition, we’ll never really know what conditions are imposed by non-disclosure agreements – but you can find templates for ‘Relationship NDA’s’ online.” She told the outlet: “The law is there to protect your reputation and prevent confidential information about you being used for someone else’s personal gain.
“These days, when so much is shared in public, shrew millennials are also keen to set boundaries and expectations for social media, not to mention more intimate material, and a pre-nup will now often specify how photos or videos have to be deleted or returned along with the keys to the house or car.”
When Taylor reportedly dated Harry Styles, the pair are thought to have had an “almighty row”. Since their separation, he’s only ever spoken highly of her. Early boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal has said he didn’t mind reportedly featuring in one of her tracks.
When asked about his romance with Taylor, actor Tom Hiddleston told a journalist: “I would rather not talk about this if that’s alright.” The only person to speak about the Cruel Summer singer was John Mayer, who said he was humiliated by Dear John.
Calvin Harris had also sent a series of tweets about their relationship but deleted them straight away and hasn’t spoken about her since, further fuelling Emma’s expert opinion. He told MailOnline: “Kris Jenner apparently has a 100 pages of ‘do’s and don’ts’ for anyone dating her family, and breaching the conditions imposed by another star can cost you a million dollars.
“Young professionals, who have worked hard to build a decent life are increasingly up front about spelling out some ground rules early on about what they expect as a relationship progresses and what to avoid if they break up.”
Daily Star has reached out to Taylor’s representatives for a comment.
