The news was announced on Monday (August 17), with Ariana reacting by sharing the announcement on her Instagram page.
“Holy s**t thank u all so much for listening and caring at all let alone this much,” she wrote alongside it. “i can’t wait to give u new things to listen to.”
But while the 26-year-old was thrilled about the accolade, she was also quick to acknowledge Rihanna – the former holder of the title – as she urged her to drop her long-awaited new record.
“now can rihanna pls drop her album so she can rightfully snatch this back and fill my ears again please or …,” Ariana added.

Rihanna, who hasn’t released an album since 2016’s “Anti”, told Entertainment Tonight in a recent video chat that she’s determined to make sure she puts out something she’s proud of.
“I am always working on music and when I am ready to put it out in the way that I feel fit, it’s gonna come out,” she said. “And you’re not going to be disappointed when it happens. It’s going to be worth it.”
“I’m not just gonna put it out just because people are waiting. It’s taken this long, I’m gonna make it worth it.”

  • Ariana Grande's Tour Movie Sparks Bidding War With Netflix Offering $5.2 Million

    Instagram

The documentary about Ariana’s life on the road during Sweetener World Tour is being shopped around with Netflix allegedly offering $5.2 million for the rights.
    Aug 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande is reportedly set to earn $5.2 million (£4 million) for a Netflix film of her Sweetener World Tour.
The “7 Rings” singer has hinted a film about the 97-date trek could be on the way when questioned by a fan on Twitter last week (end2Aug20).
According to British newspaper The Sun, the prospect has sparked a bidding war, with Netflix chiefs ready to offer as much as $5.2 million for the rights.
An insider tells the publication, “Ariana’s team are negotiating a huge deal between a number of big hitters, with Netflix and YouTube both showing interest. Netflix has put forward a starting offer of £4 million ($5.2 million) to get the rights.”
“The deal is being negotiated by Ari’s closest advisers, led by Scooter Braun. She had cameras following her every move on the Sweetener World Tour last year.”
Speaking about the nature of the likely film, the source adds, “Along with her performances, Ariana was filmed backstage, while travelling and during downtime. It will be a brutally honest and raw depiction of how tough life can be on the road but will include the happier, heart-warming times too.”
Ariana previously worked with YouTube on a docu-series in 2018, which showed her on the road during her “Dangerous Woman” tour.

  • Lady GaGa and Ariana Grande's Rose Bowl Show Axed Amid Concerns Over Potential Distancing Violations

    Instagram

The ‘Rain on Me’ duo was originally scheduled to appear at ‘Drive ‘N Drag’ but their gig has been scrapped as organizers are afraid the crowd will break social distancing rules.
    Aug 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lady GaGa and Ariana Grande’s surprise appearance at a drag show on Friday night (31Jul20) has reportedly been canned after The Chainsmokers hit headlines for breaking social distancing rules at a recent gig.
The superstar pair were set to appear at Voss Events’ Drive ‘N Drag show at Los Angeles’ Rose Bowl but, according to the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six, their guest roles were axed by venue bosses at the last minute.
“Gaga really wanted to do it, but the Rose Bowl pulled the plug because of what happened in the Hamptons,” a source told the outlet. “They feared that once the crowd realised who it was, they would run toward the stage, not social distance, and they feared they’d lose their license.”
New York governor Andrew Cuomo and the state’s health commissioner are currently investigating, after footage of The Chainsmokers’ performance in Southampton, New York, earlier this month was shared on Twitter, and appeared to show crowds entirely ignoring social distancing guidelines by gathering together in huge groups.
The Chainsmokers – duo Alex Pall and Drew Taggart – have yet to respond to the controversy on their social media pages.

  • Ariana Grande's Brother Covers 'Rain on Me' to Celebrate Three Years of Sobriety

    Instagram

Frankie Grande explains that his sister’s collaboration with Lady GaGa ‘resonates profoundly’ with him as he reflects on his rewarding journey to sobriety.
    Jun 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Frankie Grande kept it in the family as he chose a song by his sister Ariana to mark reaching three years of sobriety on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
The 37-year-old dancer and singer took to Instagram to share a video of himself performing Ariana’s Lady Gaga collaboration “Rain on Me” alongside which he penned a lengthy note about his journey to getting sober.
“I’m ready #rainonme today is my 3 year sober birthday!” he wrote. “I honestly can not believe it. the gratitude that I am feeling right now for this life beyond my wildest dreams is overwhelming. thank you to all of my amazing friends and family for supporting me on this challenging yet unbelievably rewarding journey.”
“I remember where I was 3 years ago before finally turning my will and my life over to the program of recovery. The lyrics ‘I’d rather be dry, but at least I’m alive’ resonate profoundly with me. I didn’t want to continue on, I was desperate to be sober, but I had no tools to get there… and what a difference three years has made. I have the tools to stay sober every day for the rest of my life now and I get a daily choice weather (sic) or not to use those tools. I am proud to say I have used those tools successfully for the past 1,097 days in a row and never plan on stopping. everything happens for a reason.”
Frankie concluded his post by encouraging others to seek help for any addiction issues they might be struggling with.

“The dark is placed before us so that we can uncover the light, the mistakes we make are designed to help us learn, our moments of weakness are gifts to let us discover our own strength and potential… so rain on me, and I’ll see you as a better happier stronger more spiritually enlightened man on the other side of the storm,” he continued. “Grateful for the gifts I learned having survived it. I love you. stay strong. if you are struggling with alcoholism/addiction ask for help… I promise you it will be there for you as soon as you ask.”
