  • Ciara Almost Got Robbed Of Hit Single 'Goodies' as Label Wanted the Song for Britney Spears

    Jive Records

The ‘1, 2 Step’ singer reveals she almost lost her breakout single as the song was being shopped to the ‘…Baby One More Time’ hitmaker behind her back.
    Aug 29, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ciara almost lost her hit breakout song “Goodies” to Britney Spears.
The singer released the dance floor anthem in 2004 as her debut single and was shocked to learn the tune was being shopped to the “Toxic” hitmaker behind her back after she thought she had won the rights to sing the track.
“I had to reaudition again, to be picked up and to be made a priority on the (Jive Records) label,” Ciara recalled on her programme “Level Up Radio” with Apple Music. “I did that, had a showcase, rocked it. OK, boom, check.”
“Not knowing that behind the scenes, there was a conversation about this song being potentially taken from me and given to an artist like Britney Spears, who was on the same roster as me.”
“Goodies” went on to become an international hit, earning Ciara prestige and worldwide stardom, and the star admits she would have “fought tooth and nail” for the track if she knew her label bosses entertained handing it over to another artist.
“I knew that it was a very, very special record,” Ciara said, noting she was “heavily involved” in writing the song behind the scenes. “It was because it’s a record that I actually was a part of creating.”
And the star feels forever grateful for the track.
“This was my very first song that I put out into the universe,” Ciara smiled. “My first song, and by God’s grace, it also was a number one song, and it lasted on the Billboard charts for eight weeks. It was just kind of surreal to see that my dream was coming true.”

Britney Spears Feels Honored as '…Baby One More Time' Is Named Greatest Debut Single of All Time

The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker freaks out after finding out her debut single is ranked first in the Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Debut Singles of All Time list.
    May 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Britney Spears was left stunned on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 after her tune “…Baby One More Time” was named the greatest debut single ever by Rolling Stone magazine.
The 38-year-old singer burst onto the pop music scene with her catchy debut back in 1998 and has gone on to become one of the most famous singers in the world. And recognising the impact of the single, Rolling Stone ranked it at the top of their 100 Greatest Debut Singles of All Time list, published on Tuesday as they wrote, “In the great tradition of debut singles, it was a divisive statement that drew a line between past and future… with …Baby One More Time, this girl changed the sound of pop forever: It’s Britney, b**ch. Nothing was ever the same.”
Reacting to the placement, Britney wrote on Twitter, “Number ONE (shocked screaming emoji) ??!!? Thank you @RollingStone …. what an honour!!!!!!”
Just hours before the list was published, Britney’s sister Jamie Lynn had reflected on the possibility of her elder sibling retiring during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“In general, she’s kind of just relaxing,” Jamie shared when asked if Britney has any music plans in the pipeline. “And I think that’s good. Britney deserves that. She’s worked her ass off. So if she wants to make another album, great. But if she doesn’t feel like it, she doesn’t have to. She’s given the world a lot. I don’t think there are plans for anything – at the moment.”
But she was quick to insist that Britney isn’t retiring, adding, “Obviously, right now, she’s just trying to quarantine. She’s taking it day by day. And when she wants to make music, she’ll make it. I don’t think you can ever retire someone from their passion.”

The album held a 15-year-record for the biggest U.S. sales week ever for a female artist and sold over 1,319,000 copies in the first week alone. The only album to beat the figure since is Adele’s 2015 album “25”.
Taking to Instagram, Britney posted a video of its title track along with various promotional interviews she did when releasing the album.
“Thank you to whoever made this ….. Britney Spears Leaves Little to Imagination in New 'Glory' Artwork

    Instagram

The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker debuts a steamy alternative artwork for her 2016 studio album after it jumped to the top spot on the iTunes chart following fan campaign.
    May 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Britney Spears has unveiled new, alternative artwork for her 2016 album “Glory”, following a fan campaign which saw the record top the U.S. iTunes Pop Chart.
After Mariah Carey fans managed to land her 2008 album “E=MC2” at the top of the iTunes Chart with the #JusticeForEMC2 campaign, Britney fans wanted a piece of the action and took to social media in a bid to secure justice for “Glory”.
Following their efforts, the record made it to number one on the chart and the 38-year-old pop icon rejoiced with fans online over the achievement.
On Friday, May 8, 2020, the “Toxic” star continued to celebrate the record by changing the cover art without warning, replacing its original photo of her backlit face with a brand new snap, showing her stretched out amid chains along a desert landscape.
“You asked for a new Glory cover and since it went to number one we had to make it happen,” Britney wrote alongside the new cover image. “Couldn’t have done it without you all.”
The new photo, in which the star simply wears a barely-there golden one-piece, had garnered almost half a million likes within hours of being posted.

When the album topped the charts earlier this month, Britney told fans online, “WOW!!!! I was not expecting to see this today …. you guys are amazing !!!!! I love this album and am happy to see you do too !!!!”

    Instagram

The pop superstar takes to Instagram to share a photo of her wearing a red, PVC catsuit that was taken when she was filming the music video for the 2000 hit.
    Mar 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Britney Spears took to social media to reflect on 20 years since the release of her iconic 2000 hit “Oops!…I Did It Again”.
The star released the tune as the lead single from her second album of the same name, with the record peaking at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and securing Britney a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
The release was accompanied by a music video featuring the singer wearing a red, PVC catsuit and, alongside stills from the shoot, she wrote on Instagram: “Oops!….how did 20 years go by so fast?!??! I can’t believe it.”
“I remember that red suit was so freaking hot …. but the dance was fun and it made the shoot fly by !!!!!” she continued. “And now we’re sitting in quarantine wishing we were on Mars….. of course I am just kidding !!!!! But seriously you have all shown so much support for this song and I thank you for it …. ”
“sending love to you all,” she finished, adding a bunch of red heart emojis.

The “Toxic” star is fortunate to remember the shoot at all, with MTV reporting at the time she suffered a serious head injury after a camera fell on her. Following the incident, amid her mum Lynne Spears’ fears that she might have suffered a concussion, Britney required medical attention and received stitches, before resuming filming four hours later.
