Jeannie Mai Proud of 'Dancing With the Stars' Journey After Hospitalization Forced Her Exit

    Instagram

Producers of the dancing competition series announces that the sudden departure of ‘The Real’ co-host propel them to only eliminate one couple from the show this week.

    Nov 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jeannie Mai has pulled out of “Dancing with the Stars” after being hospitalised with epiglottis.
The 41-year-old is leaving the reality TV competition series after seeking medical attention for the potentially life-threatening inflammatory condition that can cause swelling and block airflow to the lungs, ABC reported on Monday, November 02.
“My doctors discovered a health concern with my throat which requires immediate attention and surgery,” she said in a statement to “Good Morning America”.
“I am heartbroken that my ‘DWTS’ journey has to end here. The last several weeks have been an amazing learning experience. I have pushed myself to new limits physically and mentally, and I am so proud of how far we’ve come.”

Adding a nod to her pro partner Brandon Armstrong, she said, “I can’t thank my partner Brandon enough for being so supportive and believing in me. I also want to thank MAI fans who voted every week and I wish everyone else in the competition the best of luck!”

Jeannie was competing with professional dancer Brandon Armstrong on the show and, following her sudden departure, producers have opted to only eliminate one couple from the show this week.
“Jeannie has inspired us, along with millions of fans, with her energy and dedication,” they added in a statement. “We wish her a full and speedy recovery. Since Jeannie had to withdraw from the competition, tonight’s show will feature the eight remaining couples and a single elimination.”
Rapper Nelly, “Selling Sunset”‘s Chrishell Stause, Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean and Disney Channel actress Skai Jackson are among those competing in the current 29th season.

The pair paid homage to Hannibal Lector from “The Silence of the Lambs” and earned a huge praise from judge Derek Hough, who dressed as Jekyll & Hyde. He told her, “You ate up that paso!” Bruno Tonioli, who was a Beetlejuice, added that she was “irresistable to watch,” while Carrie Ann Inaba, who dressed as Pennywise, called her performance “explosive” and wanted to stop “overdoing” her dance. She got a 25.

Bringing up a Dracula theme, Johnny Weir and Britt Stewart danced a Viennese Waltz to “Creep” by Vincent/Kimberly Nichole. Johnny was given a 27.

Following it up were Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko, who opted for a Paso Doble to “In the Air Tonight” by VonLichten. They danced while dressing as characters from “Maleficent”. Carrie Ann told Chrishell that she “executed beautifully,” with Derek saying that it was “cinematic” though he noted that she had issues with balance. Bruno agreed, but he still thought the performance was “very, very strong.” The judges gave her a 26.

Despite falling and hitting her head on the floor hard during rehearsals, Cheryl thankfully was able to perform. • 'DWTS' Pro Cheryl Burke on the Mend After Scary Fall During Rehearsal

    Instagram

In a clip from the latest episode of the dancing competition show, the dancer suffers head injury after losing her footing while rehearsing with her partner, AJ McLean.

    Oct 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Cheryl Burke has had a scare during an intense rehearsal with her dancing partner AJ McLean. Ahead of Villains Night on “Dancing with the Stars”, the pro-dancer suffered head injury following a fall during which she hit her head on the ballroom floor, but she is said to be “on the mend.”
On how the accident happened, an exclusive video obtained by PEOPLE unraveled that Cheryl and AJ were practicing on the ballroom floor on Sunday, October 25. When the 36-year-old dancer was running backward, however, she lost her footing and fell on her back with her head hitting the floor. “It happened so fast, I just heard her head hit the floor,” her dancing partner recalled.
In the wake of the accident, PEOPLE reported that a medic was called to the scene and Cherly got examined. She was then advised to take the rest of the day off. At the time, it was not clear whether she would be able to perform in the Monday, October 26 episode of the dancing competition show.
Despite the unfortunate event, Cheryl confirmed via Instagram that she would still get on the dance floor. “Yesterday, I took a hard fall while rehearsing for #VillainsNight. Even though AJ kills me at the end of this Tango, this wasn’t part of the routine. It’s one of those things that can happen in a split second,” she kicked off her social media message.

  • Tyra Banks Denies Banning Housewives From 'DWTS' After Bethenny Frankel's Jab

    Instagram

The former ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star previously reacted in a now-deleted tweet to reports that the new host and EP of the long-running ABC dancing show doesn’t want ‘Real Housewives’ stars on the show.

    Oct 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tyra Banks is setting the record straight. The new host and executive producer of “Dancing With the Stars” was quick to deny reports claiming that she banned “Real Housewives” stars from appearing on the ABC dancing show.
“This is 100 percent untrue,” Banks’ longtime publicist, Elana Rose of the Rose Group, said in a statement to Page Six on Thursday, October 22. “She’s a huge fan of the Housewives and everyone knows Tyra is a businesswoman first. As a businesswoman, why would she say anything against the Housewives? She has nothing to do with casting,” she went to say of Tyra.
It was also said that Tyra “loves [Andy Cohen]” and has “been on ‘[Watch What Happens Live’ several times.” The “America’s Next Top Model” alum allegedly “just tried to get one of her really good friends on the Housewives! She watches the shows. She loves them.”

This arrives after Bethenny Frankel sarcastically responded to the reports in a now-deleted tweet. “Good to know @tyrabanks has clumped me in her no more housewives mandate on @DancingABC. Also good to know-their casting director Deena, who I [a heart emoji] has asked me to be on that show multiple x in the last decade. I’m also no longer a housewife, but nobody is bigger than the game Tyra,” she said.
After deleting the tweet, the former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, explained, “I deleted that last post Bc I really like & have a great relationship with Deena Katz from #DWTS.” She went on to say, “If @tyrabanks wants to come on my podcast, she is welcome anytime as she has built a successful brand on her own in her own way. #justbwithbethenny.”
Prior to this, a source spilled to OK! that “Tyra has never been a fan of the Housewives.” The insider went on to say that “the real reason she doesn’t want them on her show is that Bethenny Frankel, NeNe Leakes and Teresa Giudice do not make headlines anymore.”
Being the new boss of the show, the former “America’s Got Talent” host allegedly “made it clear that she didn’t want any more Housewives in her ballroom. She thinks the show needs to aim higher and only book the ladies after everyone else has passed. Several ladies from the Bravo franchise have already made it clear that they would love to put on their dancing shoes, but Tyra doesn’t want any of them right now.”

    WENN/Nicky Nelson

The former ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ star posts and then deletes her angry response to report that Tyra doesn’t want any Housewives on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ because they ‘do not make headlines anymore.’

    Oct 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Bethenny Frankel was left fuming after learning that Tyra Banks allegedly put a ban on the “Real Housewives” cast from appearing on “Dancing with the Stars”. The former “The Real Housewives of New York City” star took to Twitter on Thursday, October 22 to express her displeasure at the report.
“Good to know @tyrabanks has clumped me in her no more housewives mandate on @DancingABC,” the 49-year-old reality TV star tweeted. Claiming that she has been asked to appear on the show multiple times in the past, she added, “Also good to know-their casting director Deena, who I [a heart emoji] has asked me to be on that show multiple x in the last decade.”
“I’m also no longer a housewife,” she pointed out, as she left “RHONY” for the second time in 2019 after appearing in eight out of twelve seasons since its premiere in 2008. She went on addressing her response specifically to Tyra as concluding, “but nobody is bigger than the game Tyra.”

Bethenny Frankel angrily responded to alleged ‘Real Housewives’ ban on ‘DWTS’.
But Bethenny seemed to regret posting the clapback at Tyra. Just hours later, she deleted her angry response to the alleged ban and replaced it with a tweet which read, “I deleted that last post Bc I really like & have a great relationship with Deena Katz from #DWTS.”

Making it clear that she has no hard feelings toward Tyra, she went on inviting the new “DWTS” host to her podcast show, “If @tyrabanks wants to come on my podcast, she is welcome anytime as she has built a successful brand on her own in her own way. #justbwithbethenny.”

Bethenny retracted her clapback at Tyra.
It was OK! which first reported that Tyra doesn’t want any of the “Real Housewives” stars on “DWTS”, on which she also serves as an executive producer now. “Tyra has never been a fan of the Housewives,” a source told the site. The insider added that “the real reason she doesn’t want them on her show is that Bethenny Frankel, NeNe Leakes and Teresa Giudice do not make headlines anymore.”
The 46-year-old former supermodel allegedly “made it clear that she didn’t want any more Housewives in her ballroom. She thinks the show needs to aim higher and only book the ladies after everyone else has passed. Several ladies from the Bravo franchise have already made it clear that they would love to put on their dancing shoes, but Tyra doesn’t want any of them right now.”
Neither “DWTS” nor Tyra has responded to the alleged ban report.

  • Report: Tyra Banks Bans 'Real Housewives' Stars From Appearing on 'Dancing with the Stars'

    Instagram

Being the new boss of the long-running ABC dancing competition, the former ‘America’s Got Talent’ host allegedly ‘made it clear that she didn’t want any more Housewives in her ballroom.’

    Oct 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – New “Dancing with the Stars” host and executive producer Tyra Banks is making some changes to the long-running ABC dancing competition. While the show is open to everyone to join, the rule apparently doesn’t seem to apply to “Real Housewives” stars per Tyra’s request.
“Tyra has never been a fan of the Housewives,” a source reveals to OK!. However, the insider adds that “the real reason she doesn’t want them on her show is that Bethenny Frankel, NeNe Leakes and Teresa Giudice do not make headlines anymore.”

The source continues, “Tyra wants reality stars like Carole Baskin from ‘Tiger King’ — not a decade-old franchise that no one talks about anymore. If Tyra thought for one minute that the Housewives would get her show ratings, she would welcome them to the dance floor in a second.”
The informant also shares what Tyra actually felt following the mishap while announcing the bottom two in the Monday, October 5 episode of “DWTS”. According to the source, Tyra “was livid about the mistake that made her look like a fool.”
“She is a new host and knows she is being judged against former host Tom Bergeron, which is why Tyra melted down backstage after the live show. Nothing like this ever happened in the 15 years Tom was hosting and now there is a voting snafu in Tyra’s first month,” the source spills.
In the episode, Tyra made a mistake while announcing the bottom two in the final moments. She initially announced that Monica Aldama and her pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy were safe, only to retract it as the pair were actually in the bottom two alongside Anne Heche and Keo Motsepe, who were eliminated that night. “There’s been an error in our control room, but we’re making it happen,” the host explained. “This is live TV, right? This is the craziness of live TV.’ ”

  • Taryn Manning Pulls Out Receipts That 'DWTS' Did Ask Her to Be on the Show

    WENN/FayesVision

In a now-deleted Instagram post, the ‘Orange Is the New Black’ actress shares a slew of emails which appear to show that the ABC series was trying to sign her up, though an insider denies the validity of the emails.

    Oct 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – After “Dancing with the Stars” debunked her claims that the ABC show approached her multiple times asking for her to appear on it, Taryn Manning took to her Instagram account to insist that she told the truth. In a now-deleted post on Friday, October 16, the “Orange Is the New Black” star shared a slew emails from “DWTS” in which the show tried to sign her up.
In one of the emails, the writer told the actress that “my office is casting [‘Dancing with the Stars’],” adding, “We would be thrilled to have Taryn Manning join the cast.” Meanwhile, the other email appeared to feature the long-running dancing competition show asking for a meeting to discuss the “possibility of being on out show.”
Captioning the post, Taryn wrote, “I have been asked to be on your show multiple times and just to clarify that as you see in my photo attachments and btw, thank you for the offers over the years.”

      See also…

An insider, however, denied the validity of the emails. Of the first email, the insider claims to Page Six that it was from an individual who “has never worked for or on behalf of the show in any capacity.” The source also insisted “there was never an offer on the table.”
Prior to this, Taryn shared that she turned down the chance to appear on “Dancing with the Stars” multiple times because she was afraid of being labeled as a “has been.” Speaking to Page Six on Thursday, October 15, the actress, who also appeared in Eminem’s “8 Mile”, said, “I’ve been asked to be on many times.” She added, “I have this weird phobia that (competing on the show) means you’re a has-been, and I never want to believe that’s the case. Maybe it’s my own stuff, but, yeah, I’m definitely a good dancer.”
However, a representative of the show later debunked Taryn’s claims, insisting that it was actually the other way around. “Taryn claims she’s been asked to join the cast ‘many times,’ however, we have never asked Taryn to be part of the show,” the representative said. “Her representation attempted to pitch her to us a while back and we kindly passed. So her claim that she was asked to join ‘DWTS’ once, never mind many times, is completely false.”
“Her thoughts that the contestants consist of ‘has-beens’ seems to be her own projection onto talent that we have asked to cast,” the rep continued.
