  • Hitting Back? Doja Cat Announces Her New Song Is Called 'NAS'

    Instagram

Even though the ‘Say So’ hitmaker makes it clear that ‘NAS’ is actually an acronym, a number of people are convinced that she will clap back at the male MC on the song.
    Aug 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Is Doja Cat going to hit back at Nas after he disses her? The “Say So” hitmaker recently held an Instagram Live session in which she revealed to her fans that she’d be releasing a new song next week. Interestingly enough, her upcoming tune is entitled “NAS”.
However, Doja made it clear that “NAS” is an acronym rather than a reference to the male rapper’s name and that she wrote the song before Nas released his diss track. “If you know what I’m talking about, then you know what I’m talking about. If you don’t, you don’t,” she said, before admitting that she looked kind of “evil” today.
Even though Doja didn’t reveal what “NAS” stands for during the Live session, a number of people already assumed that it stands for “N****s Ain’t S**t”. Some others, in the meantime, were convinced that she’s going to hit back at Nas even though she said the song was made before the diss song was released. “Oh she finna eat his a** up… Doja too cold to play with,” one person said. “oh she definitely edited her verse & directed the song towards him,” another assumed.
Nas previously took a jab at Doja through his song “Ultra Black. He rapped on the song, “We goin’ ultra Black, unapologetically black/ The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson black.” Nas was clearly referencing the “Moo!” rapper’s past controversy after a video surfaced showing her joining a group chat full of white supremacists. In addition to that, she was canceled due to her past song called “Dindu Nuffin”, which is considered a racial slur.
Doja herself has responded to the shade via a TikTok video. “I’m so offended and upset by this song,” she sarcastically said. “Have you guys heard ‘Fruit Salad’ by The Wiggles?”

  • Doja Cat Seems Unbothered by Nas' Diss on 'Ultra Black'

    Instagram

Instead of fiercely responding to the shade thrown at her on Nas’ new black anthem, the ‘Say So’ singer/rapper calmly expresses her thoughts in a TikTok video.
    Aug 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Doja Cat has responded to Nas throwing shade at her on his new single “Ultra Black”. Instead of fiercely responding to the diss, the “Say So” singer/rapper seems to be unbothered as she calmly expresses her thoughts in a new TikTok video.
The Friday night, August 14 clip featured Doja listening to the new Esco track in the background. “I’m so offended and upset by this song,” she sarcastically said. “Have you guys heard ‘Fruit Salad’ by The Wiggles?”
In his new track, Nas took a jab at Doja for allegedly being involved in an online racist chatroom. Highlighting the black pride, Nas rapped on the song, “We goin’ ultra Black, unapologetically black/ The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson black.” Doja’s name started trending on social media shortly after the song was released as a lot of people came to her defense.
One of the defenders wrote online, “nas really speaking on doja cat being ‘anti black’ like he wasn’t beating on Kelis (a whole black woman) for years…,” referring to Kelis who accused her ex-husband of domestic violence when they were married. “Weird how terry crews & Kanye west were RIGHT THERE saying the most c**n s**t on twitter but Nas decided to name drop 23 year old Doja Cat who makes POP MUSIC lmaaooooo! These ‘grown men’ are B***HES,” someone else commented.
Earlier this year, Doja received heavy backlash after old videos of her interacting with a group of white supremacists in a chatroom made its way out online. Additionally, the “Boss B***h” artist was slammed for one of her songs that is called “Dindu Nuffin”. It was such an offensive title given that it’s a slur that’s used to denounce black victims of police brutality and violence. Doja later apologized several times over the controversy.

    Instagram

On his new song entitled ‘Ultra Black’, the 46-year-old rapper spits his bars, ‘We goin’ ultra Black, unapologetically Black, The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson Black.’
    Aug 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nas has become the latest person to slam Doja Cat over her past. On Friday, August 14, the male rapper released a new song entitled “Ultra Black”, in which he took a jab at the “Say So” hitmaker for allegedly being involved in an online racist chatroom.
He could be heard rapping on the song, which was dubbed an anthemic song that embraced black pride, “We goin’ ultra Black, unapologetically Black/ The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson Black.” Soon after the song was released online, Doja’s name started trending on social media with a lot of people coming to her defense.
For instance, one person said, “nas really speaking on doja cat being ‘anti black’ like he wasn’t beating on Kelis (a whole black woman) for years…,” referring to Kelis who accused her ex-husband of domestic violence when they were married. “Weird how terry crews & Kanye west were RIGHT THERE saying the most c**n s**t on twitter but Nas decided to name drop 23 year old Doja Cat who makes POP MUSIC lmaaooooo! These ‘grown men’ are B***HES,” another person wrote.
“Straight n***as really think they gonna get Doja Cat out of here like they were even her target audience in the first place. She will be just fine. Now back to streaming Hot Pink,” one other commented, as someone gave her/his two cents, “I hate how ppl are bullying doja cat, like get over it She apologies twice *cough cough* (Nas).”
Meanwhile, Doja has yet to respond to the diss.
Earlier this year, Doja received heavy backlash after old videos of her interacting with a group of white supremacists in a chatroom made its way out online. Furthermore, people later found out she had a song called “Dindu Nuffin” before. The title itself was already offensive given that it’s a slur that’s used to denounce black victims of police brutality and violence. Following the controversy, Doja has apologized several times over what happened.

  • Doja Cat Transforms Into Anime Superhero in Gucci Mane-Featuring Music Video for 'Like That'

    [embedded content]

Weeks after scoring her first No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the remix version of ‘Say So’ featuring Nicki Minaj, the ‘Juicy’ rapper treats fans to a new visual for the latest single off ‘Hot Pink’.
    Jun 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Doja Cat is giving herself a heroine treatment. Nearly two weeks after scoring her first No.1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 for her remix collaboration with Nicki Minaj, the “Say So” hitmaker came out with a brand new video for “Like That”, her latest single off her breakthrough album “Hot Pink” that featured Gucci Mane.
Mixing live-action and animation, the Thursday, June 25 promo presents the 24-year-old raptress in white bikini top and matching thong. She completes her look with a pair of vinyl half-chaps in the same color. She is joined inside a planet-painted blue room by four dancers wearing white cat masks.
It does not take long before the scenes in the less-than-three-minute visual alternate between live actions and animations. When the first verse comes around, the “Juice” MC is transformed into an anime superhero with visual references to Naoko Takeuchi’s popular series, “Sailor Moon”.
Doja’s collaborator Gucci, in the meantime, pops in half-way through the video. He raps his part while chilling next to a convertible car. As he rhymes along to the beat, Doja and her dancers show off their best moves around him.
The music video came just days after Doja fought against allegations that she joined racist chat rooms in the past. Addressing the scandal on Instagram Live on June 23, she blasted haters, “The things, the verbal harassment, the physical harassment, that I could go through being in a crowd of white supremacists, who you think I’m so good friends with. It’s f**king ridiculous.”
“Your actions are stupid. You may not be stupid, you may be smart. But your actions are not telling. It just is what it is. You guys are f**king disappointing,” she continued to tell off those attempting to cancel her. “This isn’t how you combat problems. And if you think it is, then you need to grow the f**k up, and I’m sorry. I’m sorry that you suck right now.”

Doja Cat Appears to Defend Lana Del Rey's Controversial Instagram Post in Cryptic Tweet

    Instagram/WENN

Meanwhile, after multiple clarifications, the ‘Born to Die’ singer is constantly trying to explain her true intentions with her controversial remarks as she is accused of racism.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Doja Cat might be the only one musician whom Lana Del Rey mentioned in her controversial Instagram post that publicly reacted to it. Fans noticed that the “Say So” hitmaker wrote a cryptic message on her Twitter account before quickly deleting it, prompting fans to assume that it was her response to Lana’s anti-feminist rant.
The said tweet read, “Gang sunk that dunker.” The post wasn’t up for too long since Doja removed it immediately. The singer, however, wrote part of the phrase in another tweet on Friday, May 22, saying, “Gang ______________. (Complete it).” Additionally, she changed her Twitter handle to “GANG?”.

Doja Cat wrote a cryptic message.

Doja went with cryptic tweet and Twitter name
Fans, however, were struggling to decipher the meaning of Doja’s tweet. According to a fan, “gang, meaning a friend and in this place referencing Lana. So Lana sunk, as in she landed, and dunker meaning the point trying to get across, (Imagine dunker meaning truth bomb). So Lana’s points were made.” Should this interpretation be true, Doja is definitely in team Lana.
Meanwhile, Lana is constantly trying to explain her true intentions with her remarks as she is accused of racism. After multiple clarifications, the “Born to Die” singer posted on Friday on her Instagram account “a couple of final notes on my ‘controversial post’ that’s not controversial at all.”
“Despite the feedback I’ve heard from several people that I mentioned in a complimentary way, whether it be [Ariana Grande] or Doja Cat – I want to say that I remain firm in my clarity and stance in that what I was writing about was the importance of self advocacy for the more delicate and often dismissed, softer female personality, and that there does have to be room for that type in what will inevitably become a new wave/3rd wave of feminism that is rapidly approaching. Watch!” she added.
“Perhaps I could’ve given more context to my post by mentioning the title of the second book that would be out next March called ‘behind the iron gates- insights from an institution’,” she continued. “I’m sorry that the folks who I can only assume are super trump/pence supporters or hyper liberalism or flip-flopping headline grabbing critics can’t read and want to make it a race war, when in fact the issue was with *female critics and *female alternative artists who are dissociated from their own fragility and sexuality and berate more sexually liberated artists like muself and the women i mentioned.”
“My aim and my messages are clear. That I have control of my own story. If the women I mentioned don’t wanna be associated with me that’s absolutely fine by me,” Lana concluded.

Prior to this, Lana insisted that she mentioned Nicki Minaj, Beyonce Knowles, Camila Cabello, Kehlani, Doja and Ariana in her original post out of admiration. “To be clear because I knowwwwww you love to twist things. I f***ing love these singers and know them. #that is why I mentioned them I would also like to have some of the same freedom of expression without judgment of hysteria,” she explained. “the singers I mentioned are my favorite singers. so if you want to try and make a bone to pick out of that like you always do be my guest.”

Nicki Minaj Gets Real About Initial Hesitation to Collaborate With Doja Cat for 'Say So' Remix

    Instagram

Days after claiming the top of Billboard Hot 100 with the collaboration, the ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker clears up rumors she had been begging the ‘Juicy’ rapper’s team to let her do it.
    May 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nicki Minaj hesitated to jump on the remix to rap newcomer Doja Cat’s “Say So” hit because she initially “couldn’t catch the beat” of the track.
The hip-hop stars’ catchy collaboration earned the artists their first number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 last week (begins May 11), but Minaj admits she initially wasn’t sure how to tackle the tune, so she took her time before agreeing to feature on the single.
The “Anaconda” hitmaker revealed the news on Twitter over the weekend (May 16-17) as she cleared up gossip suggesting she had been begging Doja Cat’s team to let her record the remix.
Explaining how the track came about, Minaj wrote, “I guess I never answered this & I c u guys chatting (sic).”
“I got a text from josh @ my label saying they got a request from her label. About 2 weeks later, I got another text from Jeff @ mngmnt (management). I sat on it (the song) for a while cuz I couldn’t catch the beat for the life of me really (sic).”

She added, “I was in full quarantine/hiatus mode. No social media. Had no clue what was going on in the music world.”

Landing Minaj for the remix was a dream come true for Doja Cat.
She previously revealed on North Carolina radio station Kiss 95.1 FM, “It (collaboration) was a conversation for a long time. And I was like, ‘This is who I want, this is who I want. Please God, please, please, please.’ And it just happened.”
Minaj’s remix helped to propel “Say So” up the Hot 100, making chart history as the first collaboration between two female rappers to top the countdown, beating Megan Thee Stallion’s new track with Beyonce Knowles, “Savage (Remix)”, to number one.

Ariana Grande Saving 'Favorite' Doja Cat Collaboration for Time to Release Album Again

    WENN/Instagram

During an Apple Music interview, the ‘Stuck With U’ singer recalls working with the ‘Say So’ hitmaker on the song toward the end of 2019, and spills on how her collaborator first reacted to the track.
    May 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande has a collaboration with Doja Cat under her sleeve. Shortly after the “Juicy” rapper and Nicki Minaj claimed their first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with their “Say So” remix, the “Thank You, Next” hitmaker came forward with a revelation that the two of them had worked on a song together, and she was waiting for the right time to release it.
Speaking to Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s Beats 1, the 26-year-old singer first expressed her fascination at the 24-year-old rapper. “I love her,” she admitted. “I was able to work with her earlier this year on this song that I want to save for whenever it’s time again, to drop. I love her personality. I love what she brings to the table musically. She’s just such a breath of fresh air. I think she’s brilliant and so talented.”

During the Wednesday, May 13 interview, Grande also recalled the first time she showed the song to the MC. “I remember when I first wrote it and sent it to her, she was in the shower and she was like, ‘B***h, I love this. I’m in the shower.’ And I was like, ‘Shower. You can call me back,’ ” she recounted. “She called me back, and she was twerking to it, and her hair was falling off. She twerked so hard that her wig fully flew off.”
“She had a whole verse done, everything was done,” the ex-fiancee of Pete Davidson continued sharing. “I was like, ‘First of all, you ate.’ She was like, ‘How many bars can I take? Because this is mad inspiring and I want to just go.’ And I was like, ‘Take as many bars as you want. Do it. If you’re inspired to say stuff, let’s go.’ And so she just goes off on it, and it’s so much fun, and I love it. It’s my favorite so far.”
Still, when asked if she is using her time in quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic to work on a new album, Grande stated, “There’s nothing to tell.” She explained, “I’m not putting one out. Talk to you when that’s, I mean, I’ve been making stuff. I’ve been making a lot of stuff, but that’s not where my head is at right now.”
About feeling creative while at home, the “7 Rings” hitmaker admitted, “I think as far as creating goes, it feels really good.” Nonetheless, she was quick to add, “But also, I don’t really feel comfortable putting anything out right now, because it’s just like other than this, it’s a really tricky time for all of that.”

Nicki Minaj Remix Boosts Doja Cat's 'Say So' to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

The collaboration has given the ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker and the ‘Juicy’ rapper their first number one on the chart, denying Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce Knowles’ ‘Savage’ the top slot.
    May 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj have scored a first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Say So”.
Neither artist has topped the chart before and their collaboration has kept Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce Knowles’s Savage from reaching the summit.
Doja Cat’s track wasn’t even in the top five a week ago, but Minaj’s remix dropped on 1 May and led to a surge in sales, which has sent it to the top of the pile.
The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” falls to three on the new Hot 100, while Drake’s “Toosie Slide” and Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” complete the top five.

Meanwhile, Drake has tied Madonna’s record for the most Hot 100 top 10s of all-time with “Pain 1993”, which features Playboi Carti. The track debuts at seven on the new Hot 100 countdown and becomes his 38th top 10 track.
