Jennifer Lopez Fires Back at 'Too Sexy' Criticism of Super Bowl Halftime Show

    WENN/Avalon

Calling the backlash over her performance with co-headliner Shakira ‘silliness,’ the ‘On the Floor’ hitmaker insists it was ‘a celebration of women and our Latino culture.’
    Feb 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jennifer Lopez has fired back at critics who blasted her and Shakira’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance as “too sexy”.
The “On The Floor” hitmaker, 50, received acclaim for her co-headlining slot at the big game on February 02, but some viewers took aim at the singers online for their sexy outfits and suggestive dance moves.
Speaking to Variety, however, Jennifer insisted the backlash was “silliness”.
“Both of us are really respectful performers who are mums and have kids and are very conscious of what we do,” she said. “We (put on) a show that I believe was a celebration of women and our Latino culture that I think was really well reserved.”
“And that small faction of people who want to be negative about it, it’s not something I can even let in because it was such an amazing night. So many beautiful things came out of it.”
Adding she’s “very proud” of the show she and Shakira delivered, the singer continued: “The message of standing up for yourself, being a women (sic). That’s what I want to pass on to little girls: You’re strong, you’re beautiful. Everything about you, be proud of it.”

Meanwhile, J.Lo has revealed rock legend Bruce Springsteen personally called to applaud the entertainer for the Super Bowl Halftime Show gig, during which she and her daughter Emme performed a snippet of his “Born in the U.S.A.” classic.
“He called after the Super Bowl and he was like, ‘You girls can really sing and dance!’.” Lopez told “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”.

“He said him and his wife Patti loved hearing the song (sic). He’s like, ‘It made our hearts leap with joy.’ So that was a great thing.”

Jennifer Lopez and 'Hustlers' Dragged by Academy Voter Following Criticisms Over Oscar Snub

    STX Entertainment

An anonymous male producer and an unnamed actress share their ‘brutally honest’ thoughts on the movies that receive nominations at this year’s Academy Awards.
    Feb 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – When the Oscar nominations were announced in January, The Academy faced backlash for excluding Jennifer Lopez from the list. While many people felt her performance in “Hustlers” was brilliant and deserved a recognition, a male producer who’s a member of The Academy thought otherwise.
In The Hollywood Reporter’s annual “brutally honest Oscar ballot,” the voter said, “f**k J.Lo. I’m allergic to that movie. It isn’t a movie about ’empowering’ women; it’s a movie about slipping a**hole men roofies and f**king jacking them. Roger Corman made better stripper films – they had some meaning.”
The producer was not a fan of Harriet Tubman movie either. “Cynthia [Erivo] was really, really good, but Harriet didn’t really have the guts that 12 Years a Slave had,” he lamented. “It was like the glossy Disney version of what slavery was.”
Meanwhile, a female Oscar member called “Little Women”, of which director Greta Gerwig was among this year’s snub, “badly acted and confusing.” In her brutally honest commentaries, the anonymous actress criticized the casting, “I have no idea why they cast four British actresses to play American girls.”
While Emma Watson and Florence Pugh are indeed British, Saoirse Ronan is in fact Irish-American and Eliza Scanlen is actually Australian.
The voter additionally had a problem with the poverty portrayed in the period drama, “Every time they said they were poor, I gagged – they’re living in a beautiful two-story house, and they have a cook.”
She also criticized “The Irishman”, “If someone besides Martin Scorsese had directed The Irishman, it wouldn’t have all the accolades; it does because of his years in the business. It was too long and too repetitive, and the reverse-aging did not work – they erased the lines in their faces, but they still walked like old men.”

Christian Guy to Sue NFL Over J.Lo and Shakira's Dangerous Halftime Show at Super Bowl

Ohio native Dave Daubenmire states in a Facebook video that he’s forced to turn off the halftime show because he doesn’t want to ‘let that spirit in my house’ is angered about the crotch shots.
    Feb 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jennifer Lopez and Shakira undeniably stunned many people with their amazing performance during the Super Bowl LIV halftime show in Miami on Sunday, February 2. However, the set was apparently too hot to handle for some people including Christian activist Dave Daubenmire.
During his “Pass the Salt” podcast, Daubenmire blasted the 15-minute dance routines which were filled with “crotches and pole dancing” that kept him “from getting into the kingdom of heaven.” He revealed that he was planning to sue the NFL, Pepsi and his local cable company.
The Ohio native said that he was forced to turn off the halftime show because he didn’t want to “let that spirit in my house” was angered about the crotch shots. Sharing in a Facebook video, he asked for a lawyer to help him file a lawsuit for “pandering pornography” and “contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”
“I tuned in to watch a football game. I didn’t tune in to watch a porn show,” said Daubenmire. He then made very creepy analogy about having “attractive” daughters and how he can’t bring them to their school to pole dance and twerk.
“I think we ought to sue. Would that halftime show, would that have been rated PG? Were there any warnings that your 12-year-old son — whose hormones are just starting to operate — was there any warning that what he was going to see might cause him to get sexually excited?” he continued.
“Could I go into a courtroom and say, ‘Viewing what you put on that screen put me in danger of hellfire?’ ” he said. “Are we going to protect our children or not?”
“Could the court say, ‘That doesn’t apply here because the right to [produce] porn overrides your right to [not] watch it?’ Yeah, well, you didn’t tell me I was gonna watch it! You just brought it into my living room. You didn’t tell me there were gonna be crotch shots! That’s discriminatory against the value I have in my house. You can’t just do that. I wanna sue them for about $867 trillion,” he went on sharing.

Kicking off the set was Shakira, who belted out one of her classics. “She Wolf”, before launching into portions of “Empire”, “Whenever Wherever” and “Hips Don’t Lie” among other bangers. J. Lo followed suit, performing “Jenny from the Block”, “Get Right” and “On the Floor”. The two Latin superstars ended their nearly 15-minute performance by performing together, with Shakira delivering a portion of her another hit “Waka Waka”.
