    AceShowbiz –
Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lopez are booked to promote COVID-19 vaccination through a music event. The two superstars are on board to support a star-studded concert called “Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World”.

Presented by Global Citizen, the concert will be hosted by Gomez and feature performances by J.Lo, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, J Balvin and H.E.R.. among others. The event will be pre-taped at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and air May 8 at P.M. ET on CBS and ABC, followed with broadcast on FOX at 11 P.M.

YouTube, iHeartMedia radio stations and the iHeartRadio app will also air the show. YouTube’s version of the concert will run to 90 minutes and include additional performances, including a number by the K-pop group NCT 127 and content from some of the platform’s more prominent video creators.

The event’s goal is to inspire confidence in COVID-19 vaccines and encourage people to be inoculated in countries where it is available. It also aims to encourage corporations and philanthropists to use their money to help get vaccines to 27 million frontline workers in countries where vaccinations are not yet available even to those most in danger.

“I’m honored to be hosting ‘Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World’,” Gomez said in a statement. “This is a historic moment to encourage people around the world to take the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them, call on world leaders to share vaccine doses equitably and to bring people together for a night of music in a way that hasn’t felt possible in the past year. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Global Citizen co-founder/CEO Hugh Evans also explained the purpose of the event, “As a global community, we are in a race against time and the key to coming back together is the vaccine. We need to build vaccine confidence in the U.S. and globally, and encourage people to take the vaccine as quickly as possible.”

“There is a light at the end of this tunnel,” Evans added, “but getting vaccines to everyone, everywhere regardless of who they are or where they are from, is key to ensuring the end of this pandemic around the world. We must all unite to get back on track to eradicating extreme poverty.”

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has voiced his support for the concert. He stated, “Global Citizen is giving voice to a core message to Angelenos, Americans, and citizens of the world: every time someone gets vaccinated, we move another step closer to ending this pandemic. ‘Vax Live’ will open our eyes to the future we can forge if we all do our part, follow health guidelines and get our shots as soon as we’re eligible – a return to concerts with our fellow fans, gatherings with loved ones, and the embrace of family and friends.”

    Allure Magazine/Daniella Midenge

The ‘Jenny From the Block’ hitmaker talks about being overlooked at the Academy Awards last year for her stripper role in ‘Hustlers’ and describes the snub as ‘a sting.’

    Feb 10, 2021
AceShowbiz – Jennifer Lopez admits being overlooked for an Academy Award nomination in 2020 for her role in “Hustlers” “was a sting.”
The “Jenny from the Block” singer was hotly tipped for awards success for her acclaimed role as stripper Ramona in the 2019 box office hit, also starring Cardi B, Constance Wu, and Lizzo, but she failed to bag a nomination on the Academy Awards shortlist. She followed up the movie with a Super Bowl performance and a new album.
When asked in an interview why she pushes herself so hard she explains, “If you work hard, you can accomplish something.” She told Allure, “You can win the medal.”
However, she acknowledges, that despite all her effort, there is one medal she didn’t win.
“I was talking about this the other day. (My production partner) Elaine (Goldsmith-Thomas) made a post where she listed all the things I had been nominated for and won that season,” says Lopez, referring to the post-“Hustlers” awards season. “And when it came to the Oscars, it was so obviously absent. It was a sting.”
She continues, “I was like, ‘Okay, when you’re supposedly in everybody else’s mind supposed to be nominated and you’re not, what does that mean? Is it really real? Are the other ones real and this one isn’t?’ It came to a point where I was like, ‘This is not why I do this. I don’t do this to have 10 Oscars sitting on my mantel or 20 Grammys.”

“The point is creating and the joy that I get from the things I get to put out in the world that entertain and inspire and empower people,” Lopez says. “I think my life is about more than awards.”

Elsewhere in the chat, the mother of two shared how her son, Max, 11, encouraged her to attend a Black Lives Matter protest.
“I remember my son coming to me and saying, ‘You know, Mom, some of my YouTubers tell us what we should do, and I listen to them. You have a lot of people that feel that way about you.’ It was his way of saying that I should do something… I said, ‘I want you guys to make me the signs because Mommy wants to get out there too.’ ”
The star, who admitted she’s not used to being in big crowds anymore, found the experience a little scary at first.
“(My life is) car to back door to security to this to that. It was scary. I got a little anxiety, like, ‘How do you get out of the crowd?’ ” she says. “Once I got (into it), to be in the masses like that, I loved it. Like, ‘Wow, there’s a movement happening.’ So many people, different ages, races – it was a beautiful thing.”

Jennifer Lopez Catches the Heat for 'Self-Serving' Performance at 2021 Inauguration

The ‘On the Floor’ songstress gets called out after she sneaked in a reference to her 2000’s hit ‘Let’s Get Loud’ during a medley of patriotic songs at Joe Biden’s inauguration.

    Jan 21, 2021
AceShowbiz – Jennifer Lopez’s performance at the 2021 inauguration has drawn mixed responses. While some praised her for her beautiful rendition of “This Land Is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful”, she raised eyebrows with an unexpected reference to her song “Let’s Get Loud” at the Wednesday, January 20 event.
Near the end of her medley of the patriotic songs at Joe Biden’s inauguration, the Grammy Award-nominated artist recited the final words of the Pledge of Allegiance, “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,” in Spanish. She then belted out, “let’s get loud,” which was a clear reference to her 2000 hit.
People quickly took to Twitter to share their reactions to J.Lo’s performance. While some found it amusing, others dragged the singer/actress for the move as they dubbed it “cringe” or “self-serving.”
“Miss JLO………..Let’s Get Loud? At the Inauguration?” a shocked viewer tweeted. Another shared similar reaction, “I am absolutely losing my mind at J.Lo adding ‘Let’s Get Loud’ into her performance ….”
“I’m sorry, I just busted out laughing at Jenny’s ‘Let’s get loud’ remix,” an amused user commented, while another accused J.Lo of “rewriting This Land Is Your Land as a Jlo greatest hits medley.”

      See also…

Some others were not that nice, with one blasting the “Hustlers” star’s performance, “Jlo’s performance was so cringe why did she have to throw in her let’s get loud lyric.” Another echoed the sentiment, “Did anyone else cringe when J.Lo said ‘let’s get loud’ towards the end of the song? Ma’am this is not the time to plug your personal brand.”
“Whoever hired her to perform should be fired,” another remarked, while someone else hilariously asked, “If JLo could sneak ‘Let’s get loud’ into her inaugural performance I’m just really confused as to why we didn’t get ‘I wanna take a ride on your disco stick’ in Gaga’s National Anthem??”
Replying to the question, another user explained, “@JLo spoke Spanish saying, ‘One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty & justice for all’ & also ‘Let’s get loud’ which is a call to Latinx communities to not be quiet but fight to be heard, similar to what she did during the Super Bowl half-time show.”

Another also defended the star, “She is just telling Latinos to get loud and use our voice to make changes. She has done that for a while now.” Someone else added, “You don’t seem to understand….let’s get loud is for minorities like Hispanics to voice out their grievances ‘out loud’ , specially Puerto Ricans who are forced to be Americans.”
J.Lo herself has not responded to the backlash.

Blige in being honoured with the prestigious accolade, and in her acceptance speech she thanked everyone who has made her who she is today, including her mum, her family, and even her ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Those are my first performances. It’s what inspired me to do what I’ve had the privilege to do for all of you all these years.”
“Of course, I want to thank my beautiful family for going on the road with me, for touring with me, for supporting me, for allowing me to be the artist that I am. Alex and our four beautiful kids, thank you so much. I love you. Everything I do is for you guys.”
