  • Ray Fisher Refuses to Cooperate in Misconduct Investigation Into Director Joss Whedon

    WENN

The Cyborg depicter is reportedly not cooperative with a third-party investigator hired by Warner Brothers to investigate the misconduct allegations against ‘Justice League’ director.
    Sep 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Justice League” star Ray Fisher is apparently refusing to cooperate with a misconduct investigation into director Joss Whedon.
Back in July (20), Fisher aired his grievances against the filmmaker, accusing him of “abusive and unprofessional” behaviour.
The Cyborg actor’s claims have since caused Warner Bros. to launch a misconduct investigation into Whedon and Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, producers of the 2017 flick.
According to a statement released by studio executives, however, Fisher has not been cooperating with an independent third party investigator, who was hired at his request.
“In July, Ray Fisher’s representatives asked DC Films President Walter Hamada to talk to Mr. Fisher about his concerns during the production of Justice League,” a spokesperson wrote. “The two had previously spoken when Mr. Hamada asked him to reprise his role as Cyborg in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Flash movie, together with other members of the Justice League.”
They recalled Fisher “recounted disagreements he’d had with the film’s creative team regarding his portrayal of Cyborg, and complained that his suggested script revisions were not adopted,” adding that Hamanda, “explained that creative differences are a normal part of the production process, and that a film’s writer/director ultimately has to be in charge of these matters.”
The statement was released just hours after Fisher took to Twitter, and told his followers Hamada had attempted to “throw” Whedon and Berg “under the bus in hopes that I would relent on Geoff Johns.”
Warner Bros. chiefs denied the suggestion, with the spokesperson continuing, “Mr. Hamada also told Mr. Fisher that he would elevate his concerns to WarnerMedia so they could conduct an investigation. At no time did Mr. Hamada ever ‘throw anyone under the bus,’ as Mr. Fisher has falsely claimed, or render any judgments about the Justice League production, in which Mr. Hamada had no involvement, since filming occurred before Mr. Hamada was elevated to his current position.”
They continued, “While Mr. Fisher never alleged any actionable misconduct against him, WarnerMedia nonetheless initiated an investigation into the concerns he’d raised about his character’s portrayal. Still not satisfied, Mr. Fisher insisted that WarnerMedia hire an independent third party investigator.”
“This investigator has attempted multiple times to meet with Mr. Fisher to discuss his concerns but, to date, Mr. Fisher has declined to speak to the investigator,” it concludes.

  • Warner Bros. Investigating Abuse Allegations on 'Justice League' Set After Ray Fisher's Claims

    WENN

In a couple of tweets, the Cyborg depicter thanks the studio for finally looking into the matter weeks after he spoke up against director Joss Whedon for allegedly fostering a hostile work environment.
    Aug 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Warner Bros. is officially launching an investigation into abuse allegations on the set of Joss Whedon’s “Justice League”. Weeks after Ray Fisher spoke up against the director, who took over from Zack Synder during the reshoots, the studio is looking into the matter.
It’s Fisher himself who revealed the ongoing investigation into the matter. In a couple of tweets, which he re-posted on Instagram, the Cyborg depicter wrote on Thursday, August 20, “After 5 weeks of interviews with various cast/crew, @WarnerMedia has officially launched an independent third-party investigation to get to the heart of the toxic and abusive work environment created during Justice League reshoots. This is a MASSIVE step forward!”
“I believe this investigation will show that Geoff Johns, Joss Whedon, Jon Berg (and others) grossly abused their power during the uncertainty of AT&T’s merger with Time Warner,” he added, before thanking “@WarnerMedia and @ATT for making strides to ensure a safer workplace for all!”

Last month, in the wake of announced plans to release Zack Snyder’s cut of “Justice League”, Fisher spoke up against Whedon’s “abusive, unprofessional” behavior on the set of the 2017 film. Asked to compare working with Whedon and Snyder, who left the project due to a family tragedy, the actor replied, “I don’t want to compare them in any way, shape or form. But what I will say toward the Joss Whedon situation is obviously I put out some pretty strong words and some pretty strong comments about Joss Whedon, and every single one of those words, every single one of those comments, is true.”
Doubling down on his comments, the 32-year-old tweeted earlier this month that Whedon’s treatment on the cast and crew was “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.” He went on alleging that producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg “enabled” Whedon.
In a statement to Variety, Berg denied Fisher’s claims, saying it was “categorically untrue that we enabled any unprofessional behavior” on “Justice League” set.
In a tweet posted last week, Fisher detailed Johns’ action that he categorized as enabling Whedon. “During the LA reshoots for Justice League, Geoff Johns summoned me to his office to belittle and admonish my (and my agent’s) attempts to take grievances up to the proper chain of command. He then made a thinly veiled threat to my career,” he tweeted. “This behavior cannot continue.”

Warner Bros. has not addressed the matter.

  • Zack Snyder Insists He Would Set Joss Whedon's 'Justice League' Footage on Fire

    WENN

The ‘Man of Steel’ director, who handed the reins of the 2017 superhero film to Whedon following a family tragedy, is currently working on a cut that will offer fans his vision for the movie.
    Jul 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Justice League” director Zack Snyder was so unimpressed with Joss Whedon’s take on his superhero blockbuster he would rather destroy his film before using the footage released.
Snyder, who handed the reins of the film to Joss after a family tragedy forced him to step away from the director’s chair, is currently working on a cut that will offer fans his vision for the movie and he admits he thinks Whedon’s film was below par.
“I would destroy the movie,” the director told the fan-organised virtual Justice-Con panel over the weekend. “I would set it on fire before I use a single frame that I did not photograph. I would literally blow that f**king thing up.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Snyder Cut’ of the film is expected to eventually arrive on streaming service HBO Max, with a running time close to four hours.
“I famously advertised the runtime at 214 minutes,” Snyder told Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Randolph. “Now, in its current state, it’s going to end up being longer than that yet… (It’s) exciting to bring all this new material to the fans.”
No release date has been confirmed.

  • 'Justice League' Star Ray Fisher Calls Joss Whedon 'Abusive' and 'Unprofessional'

    WENN

The Cyborg depicter apparently has no good impression of former Marvel helmer Joss Whedon, accusing the director who replaces Zack Snyder of misconduct in the workplace.
    Jul 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Justice League” star Ray Fisher has slammed the superhero blockbuster’s fill-in director, Joss Whedon, accusing the filmmaker of “abusive” and “unprofessional” conduct on set.
A day after the actor publicly retracted a statement he made about Whedon at Comic-Con 2017, in which he called the director “a great guy,” Ray, who played Cyborg in the film, has lashed out, revealing the moviemaker did not endear himself to cast and crew after taking over the project from Zack Snyder, who was forced to step down due to a family tragedy.
“Joss Whedon’s on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable,” Fisher tweeted on Wednesday (01Jul20).
    Whedon has yet to comment.

First Teaser of Zack Synder's 'Justice League' Cut Gives a Look at Intriguing Diana Spencer Footage

    [embedded content]

The new version of the DC-Warner Bros. movie is coming to HBO Max next year to show the director’s take on the 2017 film after he was replaced during post-production by Joss Whedon.
    Jun 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Finally, Zack Synder’s cut of “Justice League” is going to see the light of day. Offering a glimpse of his version, the director took to Twitter on Thursday, June 18 to share the first teaser of The Snyder Cut that will debut on HBO Max next year after years of fan campaign.
The approximately 30-second video highlights Gal Gadot’s Diana Spencer a.k.a. Wonder Woman, who looks startled by a discovery of ancient artifact that appears to be related to Darkseid. It also features a voiceover from Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor who predicts the arrival of a great threat on Earth.
Although the main villain in the movie is Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds), Synder previously said that the popular comic book villain Darkseid would make an appearance in his cut of the movie. “It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie,” the filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter in May of his new cut.
Synder stepped away from “Justice League” in 2017 due to a family tragedy. He was then replaced by Joss Whedon, who oversaw reshoots and post-production. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Whedon’s cut had an underwhelming performance at box office, grossing a total of $657.9 million worldwide against an estimated break-even point of as much as $750 million.
Fans then demanded Synder’s cut be released. In 2019, the movie’s stars Gadot, Ben Affleck and Ray Fisher as well as Snyder himself acknowledged the fan campaign, with the Wonder Woman depicter sharing her wish by tweeting, “#ReleaseTheSnyderCut.” Affleck echoed the sentiment and posted the same hashtag.
Snyder eventually announced in May that his cut would be released on HBO Max. “I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized,” he said in a statement at the time. “Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality.”
More from The Snyder Cut will be revealed in August during DC FanDome, an online event Warner Bros. is using to promote its stable of DC films, TV shows and comics.
