Gal Gadot Confirms 'Issues' With Joss Whedon Amid Feud Rumors on 'Justice League' Set

    WENN

The ‘Wonder Woman’ actress confirms she had her differences with the former Marvel filmmaker as she’s rumored to clash with him over plans to make her character more aggressive.

    Apr 7, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Gal Gadot has confirmed reports she clashed with Joss Whedon on the “Justice League” set over the director’s plans to toughen up her “Wonder Woman” character.

A new expose in The Hollywood Reporter suggests the filmmaker and the actress fell out after he stepped in to complete the Warner Bros. blockbuster following Zack Snyder’s exit, and “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins had to intervene and talk to movie studio bosses.

The piece, centred on a new interview with Ray Fisher who has previously made it clear he and Whedon clashed over the director’s “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable” behaviour on the “Justice League” set, suggests Gadot had several issues with the moviemaker as he allegedly tried to make her character more aggressive.

“She wanted to make the character flow from one movie to the next,” a source tells the publication, while another insider tells The Hollywood Reporter that Whedon allegedly threatened to harm the Israeli actress’ career if she didn’t follow his lead and read lines she didn’t want to.

“He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie,” the witness said.

In a statement, Gadot states, “I had my issues with him (Whedon) and Warner Bros. handled it in a timely manner.”

The director, who has been hit with several allegations of misconduct and inappropriate behaviour from the stars of his films and TV shows in the past year, has yet to comment.

Gadot previously told the Los Angeles Times her experience with Whedon “wasn’t the best one” but added, “I took care of it there and when it happened I took it to the higher-ups and they took care of it.”

She also supported co-star Fisher, adding, “I’m happy for Ray to go up and say his truth.”

Fisher’s initial complaint sparked an official investigation by WarnerMedia, led by former federal judge Katherine Forrest, who told The Hollywood Reporter she found “no credible support for claims of racial animus” or racial “insensitivity.”

Fisher has slammed the investigation several times.

Zack Snyder in 'Place of Desperation' When Quitting 'Justice League'

    WENN

The DC superhero filmmaker opens up about his abrupt departure from the star-studded comic book movie back in 2017, claiming he was so desperate that he didn’t care if his decision would end his career.

    Mar 16, 2021
AceShowbiz – Zack Snyder feared walking away from “Justice League” would do long-term damage to his career – but ultimately he “didn’t care.”
The 55-year-old filmmaker quit the superhero movie during post-production work on the project after his daughter Autumn committed suicide and, although Zack knew the move could’ve damaged his career, he simply “didn’t care” at the time.
He shared, “I was in such a place of desperation, I didn’t care. You know what? Good riddance to Justice League. I was like, ‘Guys, really? You’re going to give me a hard time? Let’s go. I’ll fight you right now.’ ”
“I was not in the mood for that kind of thing. I felt like we had done a great job, and the movie was done, even the two-hour-and-20-minute version that the studio had knocked me down to.”

Zack knows his family “needed” him at the time, and he insisted it was entirely his decision to walk away from the film.
Asked if he left “Justice League” of his own volition, he told the New York Times newspaper, “Absolutely. The decision to leave was 100 per cent mine.”
“I knew the fight that I was in for with them. And my family needed me, and I needed them. I was in a struggle at home, and then to go to my place of work and be in a second struggle there seemed like an outrageous thing to do to myself and my loved ones.”
Zack is set to release a director’s cut of his Justice League movie on HBO Max, and he explained how the idea came about.
He shared, “Almost every movie I’ve ever made has a director’s cut. When I said, OK, I’m done, I (told) one of the editors I worked with: put it together as best you can, and give it to me.”

Ben Affleck Admits to 'Drinking Too Much' During the Making of 'Justice League'

    Warner Bros. Pictures

The ‘Argo’ actor insists he played Batman for his children and admits he started ‘drinking too much’ around the time he was shooting the 2017 DC superhero movie.

    Jan 16, 2021
AceShowbiz – Ben Affleck “suffered” while filming “Justice League”.
The actor portrayed Batman in the 2017 superhero movie, and he wanted to take on the role – which he first played in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” – for his children, Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and eight-year-old Samuel, who he shares with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
“I did Batman because I wanted to do it for my kids,” he told The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast. “I wanted to do something that my son would dig. I mean, my kids didn’t see Argo.”
Affleck – who is to play the Dark Knight again in 2022’s “The Flash” – has admitted things didn’t all go to plan while making “Justice League”, but he insisted being able to wear the iconic Batsuit at his son’s birthday party “was worth every moment of suffering” on the motion picture.

“Zack (Snyder) wanted to do a version of the Frank Miller Dark Knight graphic novel series, which is a really good version of that,” he continued. “Unfortunately, there are a lot of reasons why things go the way they do in the movie business, and just because your face is on the poster doesn’t mean that you’re dictating all of those things – and even if you were, that they would go well.”
“I wore the suit to my son’s birthday party, which was worth every moment of suffering on Justice League.”
Affleck – who has been open about his battle with alcoholism and his recovery – also admitted he started “drinking too much” around the time he was shooting the movie, but he now feels “as healthy and good as (he has) ever felt.”
“I started drinking too much around the time of ‘Justice League’ and it’s a hard thing to confront and face and deal with,” he added. “I’ve been sober for a while now, and I feel really good – as healthy and good as I’ve ever felt. And the process of recovering from alcoholism has been really instructive.”
“I think it’s great for people who aren’t alcoholics, you know? Like, ‘Be honest. Have integrity. Take accountability. Help other people.’ It’s a good set of things that they teach you. It took me a little while to get it – I had a few slips, like most people – but I feel really good.”

Studio Bosses Slam Ray Fisher's Claims That There's 'Interference' in 'Justice League' Investigation

    WENN

Bosses at Warner Brothers insist DC Films President Walter Hamada never interfered with the internal investigation into the misconduct allegations made by the Cyborg star.

    Jan 15, 2021
AceShowbiz – Warner Bros. studio bosses are standing by DC Films president Walter Hamada following “Justice League” star Ray Fisher’s latest comments attacking the producer.
Fisher took to Twitter on Wednesday (13Jan21) to confirm his Cyborg character had been written out of standalone superhero movie “The Flash” after he was approached last summer (20) to reprise his “Justice League” role for a small part in the upcoming blockbuster.
He claimed Hamada and company officials had been responsible for pushing him out of “The Flash”, and made new allegations of “interference” in the internal investigation conducted by Warner Bros. officials into his accusations of misconduct against producer Geoff Johns and director Joss Whedon on the set of 2017’s “Justice League”, which he completed when Zack Snyder had to step down.
Fisher declined to participate in the investigation, and on the heels of his latest social media rant, WarnerMedia chiefs have declared their continued support and faith in both Johns and Hamada.

“As has been previously stated, an extensive investigation was conducted by an outside law firm, led by a former federal judge who has assured WarnerMedia that there were no impediments to the investigation,” WarnerMedia representatives stated to TheWrap.com.
“Last summer, Mr. Fisher was offered the opportunity to reprise his role as Cyborg in The Flash. Given his statement that he will not participate in any film associated with Mr. Hamada, our production is now moving on.”
“Warner Bros. remains in business with Geoff Johns who continues to produce Stargirl, Batwoman, Doom Patrol, Superman & Lois, and Titans for the studio, among other projects.”
In a separate statement from Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group, she added, “I believe in Walter Hamada and that he did not impede or interfere in the investigation.”
“Furthermore, I have full confidence in the investigation’s process and findings. Walter is a well-respected leader, known by his colleagues, peers, and me as a man of great character and integrity. As I said in Walter’s recent deal extension announcement, I’m excited about where he’s taking DC Films and look forward to working with him and the rest of the team to build out the DC Multiverse.”

Zack Snyder Rules Out Returning to DC Extended Universe After 'Justice League' Reshoot

    WENN

The ‘Justice League’ director has no plan to continue making anymore DC Extended Universe movies after completing the director’s cut of the 2017 superhero film.

    Jan 7, 2021
AceShowbiz – Zack Snyder has no plans to make anymore DC Extended Universe movies.
The filmmaker, who is currently working on a director’s cut of “Justice League”, due for a March (21) release, admitted that he hasn’t ruled out making a DC movie again, but he thinks a return is unlikely.
“Look, I never thought I’d be here doing this. I didn’t think I’d be finishing Justice League,” he told ComicBook Debate. “The truth is, and it’s been widely reported, and I have no issue, this is an old movie.”
“This is a years-old movie I’m working on. The DC universe has gone and branched off and done its own thing and that’s fine… as far as what I did and as far as what my vision for what I wanted to do with these characters and the journey I wanted them to go on, it’s well known that I planned on more movies – five movies or something – but I’m busy. I’ve got a lot going on.”

Zack added he’s grateful fans have “so much faith” in his filmmaking, musing, “Is it cool that the fans have so much faith in the trajectory?”
“Yes, it’s amazing, and I couldn’t be happier and I’m excited for them to see Justice League so they can really drink the entire elixir of Justice League,” smiled the star. “But would I continue? I have no plan to. But like I said, I didn’t think I’d be here, so who knows?”
Zack shot new scenes for his extended cut of “Justice League”, bringing back stars such as Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman during the week-long filming.
The new material will form part of a four-episode limited series that will air on HBO Max, which would have been his intended edit of the 2017 DC Extended Universe blockbuster.

Connie Nielsen Demands 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' Include Her Stunt Cut by Joss Whedon

    Warner Bros. Pictures

The actress, who plays Amazon queen Hippolyta in the DC Extended Universe, only agreed to the ‘Justice League’ reshoots after director Zack Snyder said yes to her demand.

    Dec 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Connie Nielsen only agreed to be part of Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” reshoots if he agreed to include a stunt she filmed which was cut from director Joss Whedon’s movie.
Like many of the stars who shot scenes for “Justice League”, the actress was far from happy with the blockbuster, which was completed by Whedon after Snyder was forced to step down.
But when Zack agreed to fan requests to rework his vision of the superhero movie, Connie was one of the first people he called.

The actress, who plays Hippolyta in the “Wonder Woman” films, reveals fans will see more of her and her fellow Amazons in the new project than they did in the original 2017 theatrical release of “Justice League”.
“Zack called me to ask if I would be OK with a reissue of the film with changes,” Nielsen tells The Hollywood Reporter, “and I asked him, ‘Well, will you bring back the Amazon chapter the way you had written it and had filmed it?’ And he said, ‘Absolutely.’ And then I said, ‘And Zack, will you also bring back my quite incredible stunt, running up the walls?’ And he said, ‘You got it.’ So I said, ‘Yeah, definitely. You’ve got my blessing. Absolutely.’ ”
Connie admits she was shocked to see little of what she filmed in the original “Justice League”, “What was really sad was how much stuff we filmed that wasn’t in the film. I think that’s part of what made Justice League less cohesive as a viewing experience. The intent was not the same during the editing as it was during shooting.”
Snyder’s Directors Cut will arrive in four parts on HBO Max in 2021.

Gal Gadot Confirms She's Included in Very Thorough 'Justice League' Investigation

    WENN

The Wonder Woman star reveals she was interviewed as a part of a ‘very thorough’ inquiry into the misconduct allegations made by Ray Fisher against Joss Whedon.

    Dec 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gal Gadot was interviewed as part of WarnerMedia’s investigation into alleged misconduct on the “Justice League” set.
The actress has confirmed she was included in the “very thorough investigation” into allegations made by actor Ray Fisher, who previously accused Joss Whedon and producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg of engaging in misconduct.
Gal – who starred as Wonder Woman in the 2017 movie – said, “I know that they’ve done a very thorough investigation, even just by how much time I spent with them.”
WarnerMedia recently confirmed it had concluded its investigation and that remedial action has been taken. However, the company refused to elaborate on what action had been taken.
Speaking to “The Big Ticket”, Gal confessed, “I don’t know what that means either. I’m curious to know what’s going to be the outcome.”

Earlier this year, Ray alleged that racial issues played a role in determining the film’s final cut.
The actor – who played the part of Cyborg in the movie – suggested the decision to give his character a diminished role in the film “was neither an accident nor coincidence.”
Speaking about his experience of making the movie, Ray explained, “The erasure of people of colour from the 2017 theatrical version of Justice League was neither an accident nor coincidence.”
The Hollywood star also blasted the director’s attitude on Twitter, writing his “treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.”
“He was enabled, in many ways, by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg… Accountability >Entertainment. (sic)”
Meanwhile, Ray confirmed earlier this month (Dec20) he’d received a statement from WarnerMedia about the investigation, but stressed there are “still conversations that need to be had and resolutions that need to be found.”

Ray Fisher Grateful for Fans' Support as 'Justice League' Investigation Concludes

    WENN

The Cyborg actor thanks fans for their support as movie studio Warner Bros. has concluded inquiry into his accusations of director Joss Whedon’s alleged misconduct.

    Dec 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Justice League” star Ray Fisher has thanked fans for their support after Warner Bros. announced it had concluded its enquiry into accusations of abusive conduct by the film’s director Joss Whedon.
Back in July (20), Fisher aired his grievances against the filmmaker during reshoots for the film, accusing him of “abusive and unprofessional” behaviour.
The Cyborg actor’s claims prompted a misconduct investigation into Whedon, Geoff Johns, and Jon Berg, producers of the 2017 flick.

And months after he spoke up about alleged abuse during 2017 reshoots of “Justice League” and aired claims that sparked a public row between the star and studio Warner Bros., WarnerMedia has concluded an investigation into Fisher’s allegations.
“WarnerMedia’s investigation into the Justice League movie has concluded and remedial action has been taken,” WarnerMedia said in a brief statement on Friday (11Dec20) night, reported The Hollywood Reporter. No details were provided of what actions were taken.
Fisher shared his own cautious statement on Twitter shortly after, writing, “There are still conversations that need to be had and resolutions that need to be found. Thank you all for your support and encouragement on this journey. We are on our way.”
Last month (Nov20) Whedon announced he was stepping down from “The Nevers”, a series he was working on with WarnerMedia’s HBO, saying in a statement, “I am genuinely exhausted, and am stepping back to martial my energy towards my own life, which is also at the brink of exciting change.”
