    WENN/Instar/Avalon

The ‘American Idol’ alum is scheduled to perform at the upcoming all-star basketball game at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois to remember the late Los Angeles Lakers player.
    Feb 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jennifer Hudson will honour the late Kobe Bryant during the 2020 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 16, 2020.
The former Los Angeles Lakers player died in a helicopter crash last month, alongside his teenage daughter and seven other victims.
On Thursday, the National Basketball League announced the Oscar winner will open the game with a special tribute to the sportsman. Hudson previously paid her respects when news of his passing was announced.
“It’s like every time I go to sleep and then wake up somebody else is gone ! This news Hurts my heart so bad !” she wrote at the time.
Other artists are set to perform throughout this year’s All-Star Game broadcast, including Chance the Rapper, who will perform a halftime show along with Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, and Quavo.
Chaka Khan will sing the U.S. national anthem, with country music star Tenille Arts performing the Canadian anthem.

The game will be held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois – home of the Chicago Bulls.

Gayle King 'Embarrassed' Amid Backlash Over Question About Kobe Bryant's Alleged Rape

    WENN/Avalon

The CBS anchor breaks her silence following the outrage over question about Kobe Bryant’s sexual assault case, ‘if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too.’
    Feb 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gayle King has hit out at executives at CBS over a promo clip of an interview with the late Kobe Bryant’s friend, former WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) star Lisa Leslie, about his rape trial.
The NBA legend was killed in a helicopter crash at the age of 41 last month, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others.
He had previously been embroiled in a sexual assault case, which was dismissed as a criminal complaint but settled as a civil case in 2005, an episode which came up in the chat.
“It’s been said that his legacy is complicated, because of a sexual assault charge that was dismissed in 2003, 2004. Is it complicated for you, as a woman, as a WNBA player?” King asked.
Leslie then replied, “It’s not complicated for me at all… I just never see – have ever seen him being the kind of person that would be – do something to violate a woman or be aggressive in that way. That’s just not the person that I know.”
“But Lisa, you wouldn’t see it though. As his friend, you wouldn’t see it,” King responded.
The snippet was part of a wider interview, but was the only part released online, with fans attacking King over the apparent ill-timed question.
Taking to Instagram, she responded, “I’ve been up reading the comments about the interview I did with Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant, and I know that if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too.”
“I am mortified. I am embarrassed and I am very angry. Unbeknownst to me, my network put up a clip from a very wide-ranging interview – totally taken out of context – and when you see it that way, it’s very jarring. It’s jarring to me. I didn’t even know anything about it.”
Honouring Bryant as “warm and friendly,” the broadcaster insisted there will be “a very intense discussion” between her and the network.
However, she also said she pushed the network to keep the segment in the interview, “because I thought it put a nice button on that part of the conversation.”

She concluded, “I wanted you to hear exactly where I’m coming from and how I’m feeling, and to let everybody know that no disrespect intended … I thank you for listening.”

Guns N' Roses Honors Late Kobe Bryant With 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door' at Super Bowl Fest

Prior to performing the classic cover with his band, frontman Axl Rose takes a moment to recall a feeling of foreboding the night before the NBA legend’s helicopter crashed in Calabasas, California.
    Feb 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose honoured Kobe Bryant onstage on Friday (January 31) by dedicating “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” to the tragic basketball star and his daughter.
The rocker took a moment out of the band’s Super Bowl Music Fest set in Miami, Florida to remember the sports icon, revealing he had experienced a feeling of foreboding the night before Bryant’s helicopter crashed in Calabasas, California on 26 January, killing the Los Angeles Lakers legend, his 13-year-old girl Gianna, and seven other people.
“The other night coming home from rehearsal… I was like, ‘Is it just me, or is that really weird?'” Rose recalled prior to performing the classic cover.
“It was this fog bank, like a thunder cloud over the trees,” he continued. “It was really white with a slight pink above the trees… It was really weird. The only word I had for that at the time (was) it looked formidable. By morning, apparently, it was much worse. That’s where (Bryant’s) helicopter flew through. It was pretty scary.”
Rose then added, “I want to dedicate this to Kobe and his daughter and everyone on the flight and everyone in the families and everyone impacted by this terrible event (sic).”

    Feb 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Usher sung a stunning tribute to honour Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant as the team returned to the court on Friday, January 31, 2020 to play their first game since their former teammate lost his life in a helicopter crash last Sunday.
The NBA (National Basketball Association) player was one of nine people killed in the incident – alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, who was also a talented basketball player.
Following the shock news, tributes have poured in for the sportsman, and as his former team resumed business on Friday, after cancelling a planned game earlier this week, they made sure to honour their pal.
For the match against the Portland Trail Blazers, every seat inside Los Angeles’ Staples Center was covered with a shirt featuring one of Kobe’s numbers – 8 and 24 – and two chairs on the players’ row of chairs were adorned with his and his late daughter’s jerseys.

While warming up for the game, the team wore Kobe’s jersey, and Usher made an appearance, dedicating a rendition of gospel classic “Amazing Grace” to his memory.
Kobe’s initials KB were also placed on the edge of the court and his numbers were written out in flower petals.

Following news of Kobe’s death, Usher led the stars campaigning for the NBA to change its logo to honour the five-time NBA champion writing, “Couldn’t be a better time or all around athlete and person for it #changethelogo.”
Meanwhile, his ex-teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis honoured their late pal with new tattoos. LeBron got a snake in reference to Kobe’s Black Mamba nickname, with the words “Mamba 4 Life” on his left thigh, with Anthony opting for a similar design.
