Ariana Grande Finds Lady GaGa's Hands-On Approach to Their Collaboration 'Awesome'

    Instagram

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, the ‘Thank You, Next’ hitmaker talks about working together with the ‘Born This Way’ singer on their new single ‘Rain on Me’.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande had a great time working with Lady GaGa on their new single “Rain on Me”, revealing the “Poker Face” singer was hands-on when it came to all aspects of the collaboration.
The “thank u, next” singer had no idea what to expect when she signed on to work with GaGa and now reveals it was one of the most fulfilling collaborations.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music on Friday (May 22), Ariana said, “She does do a really fantastic job riding that line of being like, ‘Hey, it is what it is’, but also, like, ‘I’m going to give you a f**king show, and I’m going to pick every color that’s on the screen – every lighting, every shot, every wig that every dancer is wearing. Every, everything. I’m going to pick, I’m going to help Ari with picking her make-up and her hair…’ ”
“It’s awesome. I really love seeing her have the point of view, and such gentleness at the same time. And respect for another artist at the same time.”
Grande also admitted she loved enjoying pure pop moments with her new pal, “It feels so fun to be a part of something so upbeat and, like, straight pop again, because I do feel like it’s been a minute since I’ve done something that poppy, and that’s funny because I am a pop person, but it’s just, everyone knows that my heart is kind of rooted in the R&B influence music that I make, and that’s where my heart is, but it just felt so good and fun and happy to dip a toe into her world a little bit, and to try this on for size.”
“The video is so GaGa and so fun. I had so much fun. I was like, ‘I’ve never dressed like this in my life. I’m just having the best time.’ ”

Lady GaGa Admits to Challenging Ariana Grande to Sing While Watching Her Dance

    Instagram

Aside from praising her ‘Rain on Me’ collaborator, the ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker reveals that she sent Billie Eilish flowers after the ‘Bad Guy’ singer won big at one awards show.
    May 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lady GaGa put her “Rain on Me” duet partner Ariana Grande on the spot by asking her to sing, while she performed an interpretive dance in front of her.
The “Poker Face” star admits her new pal had no idea what to expect when GaGa asked her to join her in the studio – and she really tested her.
“I think maybe she assumed that it’d be that she came in and I was like, ‘Here, just sing this and thank you so much for your time,'” Gaga tells Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, “but instead I asked her what she needed, how she wanted to do things…
“I said to her, ‘OK, now everything that you care about while you sing, I want you to forget it and just sing. And by the way, while you’re doing that, I’m going to dance in front of you’, because we had this huge big window…
“She was like, ‘Oh my God. Oh my God. I can’t. I can’t. I don’t know. Oh my God. OK, OK’. And then I did it and she sang, and she started to do things with her voice that was different. And it was the joy of two artists going, ‘I see you…’ We create things that make us feel comfortable. We put them all around. I do it all the time. We all do things to make ourselves feel safe.
“I always challenge artists when I work with them. I go, ‘Make it unsafe, make it super f**king unsafe and then do it again’. And it was just awesome to watch her.”
During the interview with Lowe, GaGa also heaped praise on Billie Eilish, revealing she sent her flowers after one awards show where the “Bad Guy” singer piled up the wins.

“There was one night where she just swept a whole bunch of awards and I said, ‘Send her some flowers’. I wrote her a note and, for me, it’s healing, because I go, ‘You know what? That hurt me that I didn’t get that, but that’s OK, because I’m going to be that for someone else’. And me being that for anyone is also a gift for me.”
