British Film Commission Requires Film Crew to Take COVID-19 Safety Training Post-Shutdown

    Twitter

The leaked list of protocols reportedly include provisions for a coronavirus supervisor, who has the authority to stop work if a set becomes unsafe, on every production, and at daily briefings.
    May 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Film crew members will have to take coronavirus safety training two days before a shoot, according to a leaked list of British Film Commission protocols aimed at kickstarting the industry after the coronavirus shutdown.
The BFC’s new Film And TV Production Codes of Practice document, drawn up to provide government officials with details about a safe return to work, has been obtained by Deadline.
It will be subject to scrutiny over the next 10 days, but early guidelines for the filming of big budget movies and TV series like “The Batman” and “The Witcher” include provisions for a COVID-19 supervisor, who has the authority to stop work if a set becomes unsafe, on every production, and at daily briefings.
Set coordinators will also be required to hang posters on walls reminding cast and crew to wash their hands and keep their distance, and extra security has been suggested to manage set perimeters.
Under the new protocols, cast and crew will be forced to undergo pre-shoot health screenings and there will be temperature checks twice a day, while producers have been asked to provide support for heightened stress and anxiety.
Meanwhile, communal food preparation, storage and serving will be banned and communal spaces, such as toilets and dressing rooms, should be cleaned daily. Sets should be locked down when not in use.
Filmmakers will also be asked to cut down on crowd scenes, using computer generated imagery where possible to reduce the number of supporting artists on set.
The official guidelines will be presented by BFC bosses later this month, when Prime Minister Boris Johnson will make his decision on when to end the film industry shutdown.

Robert Pattinson's Batman to Be Depicted as Married Man With a Kid in Future Sequel

    Warner Bros.

Words are Matt Reeves’ upcoming movie, the first installment in the trilogy, will establish Bruce Wayne’s romance with a familiar female character from DC Comics.
    Apr 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Robert Pattinson’s Batman may not be as so-unlucky-in-love as Michael Keaton’s version in 1992’s “Batman Returns”. Words are Bruce Wayne will be depicted as a married man with a kid in a future “The Batman” sequels.
We Got This Covered, which first broke the news about Batman’s alleged love story arc in the upcoming movie, claimed to have got the scoop from a reliable source who has in the past shared some credible information about other projects. According to the source, the first film in the planned new trilogy will establish Batman’s romance with none other than [SPOILER ALERT!] Catwoman, who will be portrayed by Zoe Kravitz.
Apparently, the sequel to Matt Reeves movie will feature its version of the Joker (or Jokers) taking center stage, along with the beginnings of a full-on love story. The site adds that future sequels will see the pair getting married and having a baby.
It’s further said that the plot will be familiar to readers of the comics, though it remains to be seen if this will adapt the storyline straight from the comics, in which their first rooftop wedding plans were scuppered when Catwoman jilted Batman. In “Batman” #85 which was released in 2019, the pair eventually tied the knot in a low-key ceremony.
In 1992’s “Batman Returns”, Batman and Catwoman’s romance ended with Catwoman apparently dying in order to get revenge on her former boss.
Meanwhile, filming on Reeves’ “The Batman” has been halted due to the coronavirus outbreak. The cast and crew had shot around a quarter of the film in the U.K. when production was halted in March as the country was hit by COVID-19.
Reeves recently said that he planned to resume the production in the country once the crisis is over, but hasn’t ruled out moving production elsewhere. “It’s way too early to say,” he told Deadline. “I can’t imagine we wouldn’t finish in London. The situation is fluid.”
The movie has been scheduled for a June 25, 2021 launch. It’s currently unknown if the coronavirus pandemic will affect the release date.

'Batman' Director Determined to Resume Filming in London After It's Halted Due to Covid-19 Crisis

    Warner Bros. Pictures

Matt Reeves is keen to finish the production of the Caped Crusader movie in Britain after it came to a screeching halt due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
    Apr 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Batman” director Matt Reeves wants to finish filming the movie in London after the coronavirus outbreak there has ended – but hasn’t ruled out moving production elsewhere.
Reeves and a cast including Robert Pattinson, who plays the titular superhero, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, and Colin Farrell, had shot around a quarter of the film in the U.K. when production was halted last month, March 2020 as the country was hit by Covid-19.
Asked if he would consider moving the shoot to a location less affected by the global pandemic, the filmmaker said the plan is to return – but that nothing is off the table should Britain remain in lockdown for an extended period.
“It’s way too early to say,” he told Deadline.com. “I can’t imagine we wouldn’t finish in London. The situation is fluid.”
Updating fans on the progress he made before the shoot was put on hold, Reeves explained, “We’re not officially editing right now. We’ve actually shot a quarter of the movie and I have been pouring through dailies, looking at takes, and what’s to come.”
The film has also been hit by tragedy as Andrew Jack, a renowned dialect coach and actor who was working on the project, died after contracting Covid-19.
“He was a lovely and special person and it’s one of those things where it makes you re-prioritise and realise how fragile everything is,” Reeves said in a tribute to Jack.
Mulling the tough times brought on by the health crisis, he added, “I’m tremendously focused on the movie and, of course, it’s nice to be able to stop. But the real thing I’ve been thinking about is the state the world is in, and hoping that everyone is going to be OK and that everyone is going to social distance and do everything to be safe, because it’s a very scary time.”

New 'The Batman' Official Set Photos Unveil Robert Pattinson's Vintage Batmobile

    Twitter

The new vehicle to be featured in Matt Reeves’ movie looks to be a modified classic American muscle car, which is unlike any other cars shown in previous Batman films.
    Mar 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – New official set photos from “The Batman” have been shared by Matt Reeves, this time revealing the Batmobile. The director took to Twitter on Wednesday, March 3 to post three images featuring the new vehicle, with Robert Pattinson’s titular character standing next to it in his complete Batsuit.
The pictures give a close-up look and details of the new Batmobile, which looks to be a modified classic American muscle car, possibly a Chevy Camaro or a Dodge Charger from the late ’60s. The car, which is unlike any other cars shown in previous Batman films, has an exposed rear engine with three horizontal red brake lights on each side.

People have since shown mixed reactions to the car design, with actor Elijah Wood expressing his excitement, “s**t yes! cannot wait for what you’re crafting, Matt.” Marvel director James Gunn showed his support with raised-hands emoji, while some others compared it to “The Fast and The Furious” cars. “THE DARK AND THE FURIOUS,” one person wrote. Another added, “The Bat and the Furious!!”

There were some others, however, who think that Ben Affleck’s Batmobile in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has the best design. “This is the best By Far,” one tweeted along with picture of Affleck posing next to his Batmobile.
Echoing the sentiment, another wrote, “Sigh…nothing will ever live up to this again huh.” An apparent Synder fan similarly commented, “Just when you think it can’t get any worse…,” while someone else dubbed the new Batmobile “Serious DOWNGRADE..!!”
Besides starring Pattinson as the titular character, “The Batman” will feature Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Batman’s villain The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright who is said to play James Gordon, and Peter Sarsgaard who is cast in a mystery role. There has been a speculation that Sarsgaard might be portraying District Attorney Harvey Dent, who becomes the villain Two-Face.
The solo movie is slated for June 25, 2021 release in U.S. theaters.

Ben Affleck Dropped Out of 'The Batman' Over Fears of Alcohol Relapse

    Instagram

The Bruce Wayne depicter in ‘Justice League’ reveals in a new interview the real reason why he stepped away from the role, saying that he was told ‘you’ll drink yourself to death’ if he did the Batman solo movie.
    Feb 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – A year after confirming his departure from “The Batman”, Ben Affleck has explained the real reason why he dropped out of the movie. Speaking in a new interview, the 47-year-old actor reveals he made the decision out of fear that the role would mess with his commitment to staying sober after several rehab stints for his alcoholism.
“I showed somebody ‘The Batman’ script,” Affleck, who was at one point attached to write and direct the Batman solo movie, tells the New York Times. “They said, ‘I think the script is good. I also think you’ll drink yourself to death if you go through what you just went though again.’ ”
Affleck first starred as the Caped Crusader in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. In the same year, he made a cameo appearance in “Suicide Squad” and reprised the role in 2017’s “Justice League”.
He stepped down as director and writer of “The Batman” in 2017, handing over the duty to Matt Reeves, but it’s not until early 2019 that he confirmed he’s done playing the Dark Knight. Reeves later cast Robert Pattinson as the young version of Bruce Wayne in his upcoming movie.
Stopping by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last year, Affleck told the host that he left the project as he felt he would struggle to do the iconic comic book character justice. “I tried to direct a version of (‘Batman’), (I) worked with a really good screenwriter, but kinda just couldn’t come up with a version,” he said to Jimmy Kimmel. “Couldn’t crack it.”
During the interview with the New York Times, Affleck also talks about his long battle with alcoholism. “The Way Back” star credits fellow Hollywood stars Bradley Cooper and Robert Downey Jr. for helping him on his journey to sobriety and adds, “One of the things about recovery that I think people sometimes overlook is the fact that it inculcates certain values. Be honest. Be accountable. Help other people. Apologize when you’re wrong.”

Zoe Kravitz: Filming 'The Batman' With Robert Pattinson Is Going to Be Such an Adventure

    WENN/Avalon/Nicky Nelson

The ‘Big Little Lies’ actress, who will be seen as Catwoman in the superhero movie, reveals that she and her ‘delightful’ co-star have been training and rehearsing together.
    Feb 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Zoe Kravitz loves working with Robert Pattinson on “The Batman” and described the actor as “perfect” for the role.
The 31-year-old actress, who plays Catwoman alongside the 33-year-old actor’s Caped Crusader, opened up in a new interview with Variety about teaming up with the star on the project, and confessed he’s “just a delightful person and such a wonderful, thoughtful actor.”
“I’ve never worked with him before, but we’ve been together for the last few weeks, I had to camera test with him and now we’ve been training together and rehearsing together,” she said.
“I think he’s perfect for the role and it’s going to be such an adventure,” she added. “I’m excited to have him as my partner in crime and to be there to support each other, because it’s intense. It’s going to be a long shoot and there’s a lot of pressure, and I know he has my back and I have his.”
After Pattinson’s costume was revealed in a clip from a screen test shared online, Zoe opened up on the pressure she feels following in the footsteps of stars including Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry, who also played the role.
“It was a little scary, but also whenever I get nervous about something, I feel it pushes me to a better place anyway, so I welcome the nerves,” she reflected. “If you start focusing too much on what people are going to think you’re doing yourself a disservice, it’s almost like you’re putting your energy in the wrong place.”
“Of course, I want to honor the fans and hope they like what I do with the role, but in order to do what I think I need to do with Catwoman I have to go internal and forget about the rest of the world.”

The image shared in late January featured the film’s clapboard sitting on a brown leather chair, which somehow fits the imagery of Wayne Manor.
“The Batman” will focus on a younger Bruce Wayne than he was in previous movies. Reeves has shared his vision for the new Batman movie, saying, “It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.” He added, “I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
Joining the cast are Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Batman’s villain The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright who is said to play James Gordon, and Peter Sarsgaard who is cast in a mystery role. There has been a speculation that Sarsgaard might be portraying District Attorney Harvey Dent, who becomes the villain Two-Face.
